FREE DVDs

Advantages: Free trial, large choice, post included, new realeases
Disadvantages: see review

...I like movies and I like freebies, so when you get offered both in one swoop you?re bound to accept! I used my two week free trial with this company and remained with them for a couple of monthsbefore moving on to try many other companies free trials (and winning a new DVD player on Tesco DVD rental site on their free trial offer). I then had an email from DVDs 365 asking me to go back, and offering me a free DVD if I did so. I had just left Tesco (with my new DVD player) so I chose to go back with them. ∆◊◊ THE SERVICE THEY OFFER ∆◊◊ Basically it?s like going to a video shop and hiring films on DVD, except you don?t pay for each film you chose ? rather a monthly fee for which you can watch as many movies as you can fit in, for us this is usually around 8 a month (2 a week usually weekends...

George's Marvellous Medicine

Advantages: see review
Disadvantages: see review

...?George?s Marvellous Medicine? was the first of Roald Dahl?s stories which we read to our eldest son. It?s the story of a little boy who has a real stinker of a grandmother. She?s rude and scary and bosses him around all the time. One day George?s mum and dad have both gone out, leaving him alone with his Grandma. George has had enough of Grandma bullying him and so decides to cure her of her cantankerous behaviour with a special potion, which he?ll give her instead of her usual medicine. He finds an enormous saucepan in the kitchen and lugs it all around the house, essentially putting in a bit of everything he finds [lipsticks and canary seed included!]. He even makes sure he adds some brown paint so that it is the same colour as Grandma?s real medicine! He then boils it up to make sure that everything?s nicely mixed together before...

George A Romero eat your heart out

Advantages: free roaming game with literally thousands of zombies
Disadvantages: flawed save system and hard to read text on SDTVs

...Someone over at Capcom must be a big fan of George A Romero because Dead Rising is clearly inspired by his classic 'Dawn of the Dead', although the disclaimer on the box says otherwise. Although the setting is the same though the storyline is totally different. You play Frank West, intrepid photojournalist, sent to Willamette to investigate by a mysterious phone call and upon arrival you find the town cordoned off by the military. After a ride over town your chopper pilot is forced to drop you off on the roof of the towns mall by some military choppers. This is where the game starts off and shortly after your arrival the zombies brake through the barricades and invade the mall. The game is a free roaming open ended game, much like Grand Theft Auto, only with zombies as far as the eye can see. What is different though is the weaponry...

George and the dragon

Advantages: Great re take on a well known tale
Disadvantages: None

...George and the Dragon An amusing spin off from the story of George and the Dragon as we know it?ie knight with sword killing a dragon. This book, however does indeed have a scary dragon, but the hero, far from being a knight in shining armour, is a mouse called George. ~~Story and Illustrations~~ The scene is set as we enter a landscape of high and rocky mountains and move into a "deep, deep valley in a dark dark cave"" (ooh!! The suspense). In this dark cave, lives a mighty dragon. Yes, he is big and very red. So big, in fact, that he takes up a whole double page spread, and there he stands amongst the rubble, blowing smoke from his nostrils. This mighty dragon can fly higher than the clouds and faster than the birds. He can burn down forests and smash castle walls and with a brush of his wing, he can foil and destroy whole...

Large George Foreman grill and griddle for healthier food

Advantages: quick, healthy food
Disadvantages: weak instruction guide

...I bought this George Foreman 6 person indoor grill about two months ago. I would rather say it is for 4 persons. It is quite big when you have to bring it home or you have to find place for it, but is perfect size when you grill on it. First impressions I saw it on Internet on www.argos.co.uk site, it was on offer for 44.99 pounds. I reserved it and went to pick it up. It was in a huge box. When I arrived home with it I opened and found that the grill is really big. I had to put some household appliances away to have enough place for it. There were the grill, a drip tray and two spatulas in the box. The grill was in one piece there was no need for assemble anything. Features Non stick grill and griddle: the vegetables need a little oil because otherwise they stick to the griddle. So before I spice them, I pour a little oil on them...

George Michael - Twenty Five - A Masterpiece!!

Advantages: Great songs, lots of choice, two albums.
Disadvantages: Doesn't include one of my favourite ever songs.

.... The lyrics talk about being unsure as you dance with somebody and wanting it to be just you and them on the dancefloor and how you'll never dance again the way you did before you felt guilty about things you have done. The music is lovely, so soft and slow with an absolutely beautiful saxophone riff which is then joined by George's gorgeous voice. Rating: 4/5 2. Last Christmas - Wham! This song was released by Wham! in 1984 as a double A-side with 'Everything She Wants' and reached number 2 in the UK charts. The lyrics to this song are probably so well known all over the world by people of so many different ages and backgrounds. It sings about giving somebody your heart for Christmas and them giving it away the very next day and how this year you'll make sure you give it to someone special. The music is very festive, it is always...

Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54

Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.

...At first I wasn't convinced by up-scaling DVD player technology but was persuaded after reading an article in "What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision" magazine. Unable to afford a Blu-Ray player my sister and I bought the Panasonic DVD-S54 to match our parents brand new Panasonic TX-32LZD80 LCD television as their Christmas 2008 present. Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied. On Christmas day when opened we found a relatively small box tightly packed with the player in polystyrene packaging. All the components such as cables, remote and manuals were well presented in their own protective plastic bags, to keep them protected. The player...

George's Medicine Making Morning

Advantages: Fun for small children
Disadvantages: Lacked a certain sparkle that other Dahl books have

...An extract for George?s Marvellous Medicine was in a Roald Dahl Anthology that I was privileged to own when I was younger and was one of the things within it that I really liked reading. Because of this I was quite pleased when I discovered that my brother had the book in his Roald Dahl box set. The book is like most of Roald Dahl?s offerings rather simple and easy to read. The story is rather vibrant and entertaining and the covers of the book can merely contain the colourful characters bursting to get out. The book itself was first published in 1981 and is not too long a read, coming in at 104 pages long in my copy, which is a Puffin edition, published in 2001. Despite saying that this book is 104 pages in length, not all of these pages contain writing and some contain only a minimal amount, as the story is accompanied by some...

Diamond review  You, Me & George

Advantages: Build Quality, Price, Discount & Service
Disadvantages: Poor Base Specification - Options Could be Better

...The concept of reviewing things is a sound one, tell people your thoughts (good or bad) about products or services you use or buy - anything from a tea bag to a hotel room. Well, this time I'm returning to Ciao to write a review of our most expensive ever purchase. I'm talking brick and motor. I'm talking a quarter of a million pound's worth of brand-spanking-new George Wimpy real-estate. Be warned, there's so much to tell you this is a really long review - but there's a gold star in it for anyone who makes it to the end! WHERE IT ALL STARTED The post Christmas blues seemed to appear this year about the 1st December (26 days earlier than normal!) and I just wasn't happy. I needed something new to focus on, my feet were getting itchy and the guttering needed replacing. So the logical thing to do is move house! To be...

By George! Great Food, Great Decor

Advantages: Great food, nice staff, beautifully decorated pub
Disadvantages: Not cheap and the Sunday menu is a little restricted

...The villages that lie to the north of Northampton are some of the prettiest in England and some of the least well-known. Tucked into the triangle formed by the A14, M1 and A45 is beautiful countryside that few people even know exists. We have villages so cute that they can easily hold their little heads up against the competition of the Cotswolds and they have the added advantage of not being full of camera-wielding Japanese tourists. When my husband and I needed to move to the area 5 years ago we had to think long and hard about where we wanted to live. We chose Brixworth, one of the larger and slightly less snooty villages, mostly because it had facilities. Many of the smaller villages have no pub, no shop, no school, maybe a church and possibly a phone booth but that's about all. By contrast Brixworth has schools, a doctors...
