Have Wilbury Will Travel
Advantages: The best supergroup that never was
Disadvantages: Can?t buy it any more.
...?ve never heard the Wilbury?s for goodness sake send in one of they email things to support it?s re-release. You?ll find an address at http://www.geocities.com/nelsonwilbury/faq.html. Apparently Nelson Wilbury has now the rights to the recordings and may agree to a re-issue. I?m told you might also find second hand copies at www3.gemm.com
TRAVELING WILBURYS VOL.1. ? The Traveling Wilburys (1988)
WILBURY RECORDS CD 925796-2
(Recent bid price for second hand used copy - $ 63.95)
WHY THEN IS THIS REVIEW FILED UNDER THE HEADING OF GEORGE HARRISON?
Well, I offer this review as a tribute to a great musical personality (singer, guitarist, songwriter) and I admit that I asked the management at CIAO to open up the category specially.
O.K.: So who are the Traveling Wilbury?s?
As I said above this is probably the greatest supergroup...

The quiet man & his classics
Advantages: Quality of music, well packaged
Disadvantages: Only 19 tracks
...The biggest part of the 1960s music scene was dominated by the Beatles, some of the best songs of that era were written by them & they have become classics & will probably remain so for generations to come.
Of the four members of the band, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison & Ringo Starr, it was Lennon & McCartney that wrote the vast majority of their music. Often described as the quiet member of the band was George Harrison who also made contributions to many of the classics.
When the band split in 1970 it just a matter of time before they all went their separate ways writing their own material & the quiet one, George Harrison, wasted no time in writing what became classics of his own.
?Let it roll? has just been released & contains the best of George Harrison with material he is responsible for dating back to the late...

He's the Dark Horse
Advantages: Member of the Beatles
Disadvantages: Overshadowed by the Beatles
...70's rock groups that served as the bands to formidably influence and immortalize Rock music in general and fulfill the saying that Rock N Roll will Never Die; and perhaps Frank Zappa might’ve wounded up as a plumber instead.
And yes I wonder what would've happened with Hendrix! For little had it been ever recognized nor hardly even noticed that if it weren’t for the Beatles there wont be any slingshot guitar playing that would've came into being that plays along on a single guitar string.
And hearken who would've invented the idea or presented such a perverse manner of guitar playing but the Beatles' own guitarist, the mostly highly unsung George Harrison – who’ve innovated the guitar playing which Chuck Berry initialized, as it is evidently met on those Beatle songs.
This is the very same observation that I would present to my...

"Something" In The Way He Sings
Advantages: Great Songs That You Know & Great Songs That You Don't
Disadvantages: It Is Music Of A Certain Era
...George Harrison, the quiet man of The Beatles, left behind a tremendous legacy as a song writer, a member of "The Fab Four" and as a solo artist when he tragically died aged 58 in 2002.
On this best of album you will herar him sing solo some of the songs that he wrote for The Beatles that they had hits with, songs such as Taxman and Something. Something may well be one of the best love songs of all time.
Something has been covered more than 150 times with perhaps Frank Sinatra's version being the best version ever. However hearing the composer singing it is a close second.
When you hear Harrison sing these songs you will hear much more meaning and deliberate feeling inflected into them because they are his songs from his mind and his soul.
His voice is not as distinctive in style as that of John Lennon or Paul McCartney but it does...

Stuck Inside A Cloud.....
Advantages: Gentle and full of thoughtful lyrics and the odd catchy melody
Disadvantages: There are one ot two tracks that don't make the grade
...On a cold, windy day, the twenty fifth of February 1943. Mrs Louise Harrison gave birth to the youngest of the clan and named him George. Born at 12 Arnold Grove, Waretree, Liverpool. Harold and Louise had been married thirteen years by now, and it would be almost another fourteen years to the date that George nervously picked up his guitar and went shakely with his close friend Paul McCartney, to see a group at the lesser know Wilson Hall in Garston known as the even lesser know QuarryMen. It was of course here, that he met John Lennon, and after occasionaly 'filling' in for them when they were a guitar short, John finally gave in to both George and Paul's persistance, and George was officially allowed to join the band. After years of endless badly paid gigs at schools and village fetes and shortly before a trip to play...

Dark horse or dark hoarse
Advantages: Tracks 1, 3, 6 and (with reservations) 7
Disadvantages: Tracks 4 and 9
...George Harrison, 'the quiet one' of the Beatles, has recently been in the news for none-too-happy reasons. Time, I thought, to go back into my record collection and refresh myself on one or two of his albums I hadn't listened to properly for a while.
'Dark Horse' was first released in December 1974. Critics had expected the world from him after the high point on which he started his solo career, notably the 1971 Bangla Desh benefit gig, and failure to come up to expectations, plus his outspoken religious beliefs, brought the knives out. This was greeted with a univeral thumbs-down, especially in Britain, and apart from various experimental Beatles-connected projects issued in the late 60s, it was the first solo set by an ex-member to miss the UK chart completely, remarkable given that his previous album had peaked at No. 2 18...

An epitaph from The Quiet One
Advantages: One of his best solo albums - in fact, possibly THE best
Disadvantages: That front cover design (but see review)
...'Brainwashed' was the album George Harrison, 'The Quiet One' of the Beatles, began working on around two years before his death in November 2001. He had already undergone treatment for cancer, and a violent physical assault on him in 1999 had clearly taken its toll. Yet there's a total absence of self-pity about these songs. Occasionally there is anger at the state of the world around him, but on the whole it's a remarkably uplifting collection of work from a man who had been away from the recording scene for several years ? his last previous studio album as a soloist was released in 1987 - and who was determined to leave a real blinder for the world to remember him by.
Left unfinished at his death, it was completed by former ELO man, Traveling Wilbury colleague and honorary Beatle Jeff Lynne, and George's son Dhani, both of whom add...

George's Marvellous Medicine
Advantages: see review
Disadvantages: see review
...?George?s Marvellous Medicine? was the first of Roald Dahl?s stories which we read to our eldest son. It?s the story of a little boy who has a real stinker of a grandmother. She?s rude and scary and bosses him around all the time. One day George?s mum and dad have both gone out, leaving him alone with his Grandma. George has had enough of Grandma bullying him and so decides to cure her of her cantankerous behaviour with a special potion, which he?ll give her instead of her usual medicine.
He finds an enormous saucepan in the kitchen and lugs it all around the house, essentially putting in a bit of everything he finds [lipsticks and canary seed included!]. He even makes sure he adds some brown paint so that it is the same colour as Grandma?s real medicine! He then boils it up to make sure that everything?s nicely mixed together before...

George and the dragon
Advantages: Great re take on a well known tale
Disadvantages: None
...George and the Dragon
An amusing spin off from the story of George and the Dragon as we know it?ie knight with sword killing a dragon. This book, however does indeed have a scary dragon, but the hero, far from being a knight in shining armour, is a mouse called George.
~~Story and Illustrations~~
The scene is set as we enter a landscape of high and rocky mountains and move into a "deep, deep valley in a dark dark cave"" (ooh!! The suspense). In this dark cave, lives a mighty dragon. Yes, he is big and very red. So big, in fact, that he takes up a whole double page spread, and there he stands amongst the rubble, blowing smoke from his nostrils. This mighty dragon can fly higher than the clouds and faster than the birds. He can burn down forests and smash castle walls and with a brush of his wing, he can foil and destroy whole...

Large George Foreman grill and griddle for healthier food
Advantages: quick, healthy food
Disadvantages: weak instruction guide
...I bought this George Foreman 6 person indoor grill about two months ago. I would rather say it is for 4 persons. It is quite big when you have to bring it home or you have to find place for it, but is perfect size when you grill on it.
First impressions
I saw it on Internet on www.argos.co.uk site, it was on offer for 44.99 pounds. I reserved it and went to pick it up. It was in a huge box. When I arrived home with it I opened and found that the grill is really big. I had to put some household appliances away to have enough place for it. There were the grill, a drip tray and two spatulas in the box. The grill was in one piece there was no need for assemble anything.
Features
Non stick grill and griddle: the vegetables need a little oil because otherwise they stick to the griddle. So before I spice them, I pour a little oil on them...
