...Firstly I'd like to say that this is my works laptop so it is used daily for many hours a day. All that time it has been totally reliable! I have had this laptop for little over a month now. First impressions is that it looks very expensive and with all the equipment it has it is very slim and light. The quality as with most HP laptops is very good, it has a very nice black finish to it, however this can look greasy after use from sweaty palms. The display - The display on the whole is very good. It can be seen very well from all angles. It is sharp and displays the colours well. The brightness can be changed from the keyboard. The in between setting is just right. The screen has a maximum resolution of 1024 x 768 @ 24 bit colour, which is about right on a 15" TFT. One thing to note, the screen had NO dead pixels. In past... Read review

Advantages: Lightweight, Padded Laptop Compartment
Disadvantages: Looks too much like a normal laptop bag

...I bought a Laptop from Staples, and they had an offer at that point, if you buy a Laptop, you get the messenger bag for half price. So I got his bag for £25. There is a really good padded laptop compartment which easily protects the laptop from knocks and bangs. It is big enough to hold a 17" laptop easily; it has some space at each side so the laptop can not be hit easily. There is also another compartment in front of it that papers could be held in, at the moment it holds my laptop cooler easily, so could hold quite a bit in. This has some padding, but it is only on the side of the laptop. There is also another compartment right at the front. The front zips down to allow easy access to the areas within the compartment. Within this compartment there is a card holder, pen holder, a zipped compartment, and two Velcro down parts... Read review

...The design of this laptop isn’t really anything to shout out about, and in some sense its even quite ugly. I however quite like its design, even though its quite basic and its only a one colour laptop. Its all black, which usually I hate as it makes a laptop look dull and boring, however this one doesn’t come across as dull and boring and I think the reason for this must be how thin the laptop looks, it actually comes across as really thin and sleek and looks really cool, yet defying the black coloured look. The installed ram on this laptop is an average 1 gb. This is ok but could have been dramatically improved if it was a 2gb of ram. The ram can however be upgraded, and it can be upgraded to a maximum of 4 gb so if this is something you think you could do your self then you could easily buy cheap ram off e... Read review

...One thing HP Compaq are good at is making great laptops for business people. This clearly shows in this laptop as it incorporates everything a business man would need in a laptop. This laptop clearly isn’t the best looking laptop iv ever seen, but its not ugly. Its all in one colour, black, which in this case doesn’t make it look so horrible due to its nice square shape structure. There are so many things wrong with this design, yet somehow I do really like it. The installed ram on this laptop is an average 1 gb. ...Ive been using this laptop now for about 6months and I have to say ive been very impressed by it. This laptop isnt perfect but overall Its a nice solid laptop cable of performing the tasks which I require from it. Design Not really much to say on the design front, pretty typical of HP laptops its clean, simple and compact. Its a laptop with the design edge which just gives it that bit of sophistication exactly what you want nothing more nothing less. The Screen This could do with some improvement the lack of brightness on the screen makes the enviroment you choose to work in limited as in bright conditions the screen is difficult. On the other hand working in standard conditions in a normal room there is no problem. Themaximum resolution is supports is 1024 X 768. Characteristic is black and dark grey color and square shape. Design is simple without specialities and extravagancies. Somebody can call this design as a square black boxes, but some people like this design much more than the futuristic new models of a competition. The chasi is exemplary well manufactured. Cover of display and the basis of notebook are very strong and you can suspect that it can whitstand even rough manipulating, so this notebook has not to be the whole time on the desk of a table. ...I bought this laptop early Jan 2004 with much regrets later as the intel centrino came just a few weeks later. Weighing at 3.5kg and with the dimensions of: Width 32.9 cm, Depth 27.2 cm, Height 4.9 cm, it is rather bulky and inconvenient to carry around. I dread bringing my laptop when i travel especially when i have transits because it is rather heavy. Usually, I would remove the battery (if i do not plan to use the laptop during the journey) and the adaptors and place them in my trolley hand luggage to reduce the burden on my shoulder. This lap top has a slow start up and at first i thought it was due to the many programs i've installed. I've reformatted the computer but discovered that it still takes quite some time for startup. ...This is my 2nd Compaq laptop that i have purchased in 4 years. The first one died after a couple of years of constant use and a few knocks and scrapes. Why I chose the Manufacturer... Firstly I would add that I am currently replacing all desktops and laptops in my office with HP equipment. Better to have one manufacturer to turn to that lots of different ones. I chose HP (Compaq) because it was a respected and recognised brand and always found their repair and warranty sections easy to deal with. Anyway, on with the laptop review. Why I chose this Laptop... I would class myself as a power user. This is to say that I demand great performance in my job (IT Manager) and i need long battery life for when im stuck in the server room or mobile for hours on end.
