Remember Baker Street
Review of Baker Street - Gerry Rafferty by
the_mad_cabbie
Advantages: See opinion
Disadvantages: See opinion
...~ ~ So what’s this, you may well ask?
A music review from the “mad cabbie”!!!! Am I seeing right?
Well, believe it or believe it not, the only reason I have never written in this category before is because no matter how hard I try to attempt to get across what I want to convey, it all seems to come out all cock-eyed.
But listening to one of my favourite singers on the CD-Rom last night while I surfed around the Web, I realised that I couldn’t put off the evil day any longer.
~ ~ Some of you will probably remember a song from the late 1970’s called “Baker Street”, by a Scot’s singer called Gerry Rafferty. If you listen to the radio at all you can hardly have missed it, as even now there is hardly a day passes that it is not played at some point.
I believe there was even a cover...

Gerry Marsden keeps on rolling
Review of Gerry & the Pacemakers by
Gardenex
Advantages: a quality entertainer
Disadvantages: nothing
...Gerry & the Pacemakers are still touring and packing out venues as they finish their tour of the UK.
I had the privilege of going to a concert by them called an "evening to remember "on ( 2/2/01) at the Whitby pavillion.
This venue might only be classed as a small hall but nearly a thousand people packed the pavillion to witness what I can only describe as a fantastic performance by the group.
The pacemakers themselves are not the originals from the sixties but that did not matter a jot. The main man himself Gerry Mardsen singer and songwriter is very much an original and he's still got that golden voice he's always had.
The other pacemakers had according to Gerry all gone they're seperate ways with Marsden's brother now running a driving school and another of the originals now living in Australia where the band are heading very...

British Justice stinks
Review of Proved Innocent - Gerry Conlon by
jo1l
Advantages: a book that will make you both angry and sad
Disadvantages: it's a true story
...If there is one op I am truely proud of then it would be this one. It was written a good year or so before it was posted on Ciao and was the first serious op I ever wrote.
"I've spent 15 years in prison for something I haven't done, for something I knew nothing about. I watched my father die in prison for something he didn't do. He's innocent, the Maguires are innocent, the Birmingham six are innocent. Lets hope they're next."
Gerry Conlon uttered these words outside the Court of Appeal - the same court building that had 15 years earlier seen him, Paul Hill, Paddy Armstrong and Carole Richardson sentenced to life imprisonment in one of the biggest miscarriages of justice this country has seen. They were to become known as the Guildford Four.
Proved innocent is Gerry Conlon's account of his life before and after the trial...

makes Lennox Lewis look like a spice girl
Review of Sundissential Vol.2 (Harder Faster/Mixed By Charlotte Birch/Nick Rafferty) - Various Artists by
super_stevo
Advantages: fast and furious hard house music
Disadvantages: only for people into this type of music
...Alright to all you fine people out there howz you all diddling ? Just a small warning before we get the ball rolling .To anyone who doesn't like this type of music either put your fingers in your ears or stop reading now because this one is loud folks !
Sundissential is a hard house compilation compiled of 34 tracks brought to you by charlotte Birch and Nick Rafferty , who are hot property in the hard dance scene. Me being a huge hard house fan when I see this in the shops back in the summer of 2002 I made
this a top priority on my cd's to get list and I certainly wasn't dissapointed.
Listening to hard house is a bit difficult to chill out to so its only reccomended if you have had a few and want to get into the mood to party hard all night long.
So if your still reading and dieing to find out what this cd offers bear with me...

Gerry Anderson the string man
Review of Thunderbirds by
JeffTracy
Advantages: Good cast, excellent characterisation, perfect casting!
Disadvantages: none
...Thunderbirds is a well known cartoon, sponsored by Supermarionation, who is a string company. All Gerry Anderson programmes are made using Supermarionation, which is puppets using strings.
My opinion on the programme is they should remove the string and put in computerised characters, to make the programme more exciting! But this programme was made in the 60's.
I have nearly all the episodes on video! Tracy Island is among one of the many expensive Thunderbirds toys! I think they should lower the prices of the toys!! LOL! At the momment, the island and the thunderbirds together cost around £65!!
I dislike the way Gerry Anderson does not use more computerised things in Thunderbirds!! The sound on the programmes is not as good as it is in the movie and videos.
I really enjoy watching Thunderbirds at 8:00 pm at night...

Gerry who????????
Review of Maury Povich by
salvolati
Advantages: genuine
Disadvantages: ?????????
...Maury can only be described as a classy Gerry Springer. He has a way with people which allows him to put them at their ease in front of millions of viewers. He covers the usual topics - teens uphappy at school, makeovers etc yet is not monotonous at all. He generally does seem sincere unlike many talk show hosts who seem to manipulate their guests feels to cause a reaction which will make the show more entertaining. Therefore I watch his show and would encourage my friends to do so. This should be on prime time television!...

Jesus Is Dead And Its Your Fault
Review of Billy - Pamela Stephenson by
the_mad_cabbie
Advantages: Funny. Very, very funny.
Disadvantages: Not a whole lot
.... Certainly she uses her expertise to expertly analyse some of the contradictions and strange behaviour that go to make up this incredibly funny man, but more than this, it is so obviously a labour of love, written about a husband she totally adores, and the humour of both the author and of her subject shine through in almost every page.
~ ~ I awaited delivery of this book from Amazon with great anticipation, as Billy Connolly has been a favourite singer/comedian/actor of mine from my teenage years in the late 1960’s.
I first came across him when he was playing in a folk group called the “Humblebums” with the musician Gerry Rafferty. (of ‘Baker Street’ fame, and yet another of my long time favourites)
They used to play the pub and club ‘circuit’ in Scotland, and I had one very memorable boozing...

Review of Gerry McVeigh - Skoda Octavia Car Importer by
alottosay
Advantages: GOOD SERVICE
Disadvantages: NONE
...When I was looking for a new car I did the usual trawl through the ads in the various car mags. But my biggest problem was that I wanted a Skoda Octavia GLXi which is as I know not to everbodies taste. Also I wanted the car at a more realistic price ie IMPORTING.This is when I started searching on the net but came up with the problem of the make availibility so I started looking through the various car forums and came across the name of a broker in Northern Ireland by the name of Gerry Mcveigh.I duly sent him an e-mail asking the availibility of the model I wanted and a reply came back next day stating that he could get one in two weeks delivered to my door for £3300 less than the UK price.Once I had sold my own car also a Skoda Irung him up and true to his word my chosen vehicle arrived on my doorstep. As you can imagine I was delighted...

Strategy - we haven't got time for strategy..
Review of Exploring Corporate Strategy by Gerry Johnson, Kevan Scholes by
helencbradshaw
Advantages: Indispensable for the Strategy Student
Disadvantages: None
....booksites.net/johnsonscholes on which the student of strategy can search, to assist them in their strategic thinking and practice using the models and frameworks that are taught. You can also attend a one day workshop which is taught by the two authors in the UK and complements the book. It is unfortunate that I missed this, as getting your head around this topic can be difficult at first, and so many managers in business do not truly understand Strategy (myself included ..lol).
Anyway, I bought the book by internet mail order from Pearson Education and it cost £32.99, so not cheap either.
The sixth edition, which is the latest just came out in 2002, eighteen years after the first edition came out, and of course there have been massive changes in the strategies that companies and governments pursue in that time.
The book is written by senior professors. Gerry...

The Most UnderRated RECORD Albums
Review of Top 10 Songs of All Time by
CrutcHead
Advantages: these albums contain lotsa good songs
Disadvantages: Slighted to death by the majority
...my cd copy of Enough Rope on a bargain bin here, where they’ve then sold the bulk of copies for Enough Rope priced for only P100 bucks (that’s about for only US$2 ) a piece. The album copy that I have includes most of the contents for the “Apricot Time” and “Shakespeare In Love” EP cd singles as bonus tracks – which are available at CD Universe and Amazon.com. This album (Enough Rope with its 'bonus tracks') is issued as a double cd in some parts of Europe.

7) GERRY RAFFERTY Sleepwalking (1982 Liberty UK)
One of those albums with only eight songs in them that turned out for me to find as one of my all time favourites (quite similarly the same case with LED ZEP‘s 4th untitled lp, OUTLAWS’ Ghost Riders, and ex-Yardbirds’ ROGER Mc...
