...This is Rachel Stevens' second solo album since leaving S club 7. It's pretty much the type of music I expected from her - Poppy, something to have on while your getting ready to go out or something. I had heard a couple of her songs on the radio (Some Girls, Negotiate With Love, So Good) and was quite surprised to find that I actually really liked them so, I thought I'd give her album a go, as let's face it, buying the three songs that I liked on single would probably cost more than just buying the album. Overall, it sounds like a cross between Kylie, and Goldfrapp. Catchy pop tunes that you just can't help but sing along to. This does have a Goldfrapp feel to it, it's the glam rockiness and the additional guitars we don't expect in a Rachel Stevens song. ...As Good As It Gets is one of those comedies that doesn't try to hard to sell every joke. It certainly doesn't resirt to slapstick visual gags either. No what you get here is a great script with good characters, acting and some excellent one-liners. Jack Nicholson plays Melvin Udall, a novelist with an obsessive-compulsive disorder. Melvin is not a nice man, he doesn't mix his words as he offends everyone he comes into contact with. He has a gay neighbour Simon with a dog, the dog is a creature he loathes but when Simon is hospitalized he has to take the dog in after some intimidation by Simon's friend. The dog somehow mellows Melvin and when he starts getting involved in the life of his breakfast waitress Carol he really starts to be a decent human being although it's a struggle. Get over It

Advantages: Easy on the brain, enjoyable
Disadvantages: Cheesy, not a classic

...Since I like romantic comedies, I thought I would enjoy this film, and I did, to a certain extent. Firstly, it lasted a neat hour and a half, and so it was not overly long and thus boring (good for me since I am easily bored). The acting was fairly good, especially, I thought, by Kirsten Dunst who played Kelly. The storyline was enjoyable if a little predictable (guy - Berke - gets dumped, wants his girlfriend - Allison - back, and in so doing falls in love with another girl - Kelly - who has liked him for a while. They get together just as Allison realises she wants Berke back). The characterisation is another plus point, because Kelly is a much more likeable character than Allison, so as an audience we feel what we are supposed to.
