Get Ready

Advantages: Some superb tracks with very thought-provoking lyrics
Disadvantages: A couple of slightly 'iffy' tracks

...carefully I can?t really find anything wrong with it. There must be something however because this just isn?t a track that I go back to. The track itself is an easy-listening one and the vocals are strong and consistent throughout. They do however sound less polished at the higher pitched notes in the track. 7/10 Track 8 ? Soul Man The up beat feel of this track really lifts the mood of the album and is one I really enjoy listening to. Before getting this album this track was always one I enjoyed and Russell Watson really does it justice. The vocals are polished and consistent and seem to suit the overall feel of the track. 9/10 Track 9 ? In The Midnight Hour This track again has an upbeat feel and the backing track isn?t completely dissimilar to the previous one. The vocals are once again very well suited to the track as...

Graphic adventure game for the Wii - And Then There Were None

Advantages: Good to see games of this genre back!
Disadvantages: Bit difficult, not as polished as the game could be

...an item, which adds some fun to the game, but this feature isn?t used as extensively or imaginatively as it might well have done. The challenge though is arguably a little much, as I am myself stuck in the game. Although at the beginning the game is very addictive and is fun to explore, after a while, it gets less interesting once it becomes hard to make progress. Certainly I?m not that inclined to return to the game to be able to progress, suggesting that for me at least, it?s too difficult. I understand though that there are numerous different endings to the game, so there is some reason to replay the game for those that do complete it. The graphics in the game are adequate, as is the sound, but nothing more. This game is though the sort of challenge which involves the careful reading of the clues, exploration around the hotel and lots...

Get There With A Garmin 760

Advantages: good battery life and good instruction manual
Disadvantages: sometimes slow software and have to pay for camera feature after 30 days

...I bought a Garmin 760 GPS receiver for my car I had not had a satellite navigation system before this but had been borrowing my brother in laws for when I went on business trips. These are a brilliant devise you just put the postcode, town and other information in as to where you want to go and it will voice guide you there and also show you your route on the screen. It also shows other useful information such as time, how long it is going to take to get there, what time you will arrive and how many miles it is to your destination. So you will never be late for a meeting again and can plan routes with this amazing device. The Garmin 760 that I have came from Halfords and cost £250 the sales people in Halfords got it out of the display cabinet and showed me how to use it and all of the features it has, they also offered to install it...

Dear Claire, is my penis too small?

Advantages: Interesting and informative, has photos
Disadvantages: Not really a page-tuner, some views you might not agree with

..., particularly for those who experienced time in hospitals. I think that nursing students (or anyone in the healthcare profession) would find it interesting to read. It is also interesting to read from the point of view of how things have changed regarding attitudes to women, childbirth, and also to issues relating to sex. Claire Rayner is clearly a highly intelligent woman, and she is also very opinionated. I can't say I agree with all her opinions (it gets quite political towards the end of the book), but I like the way she stands up for what she believes in, and clearly she has contributed a lot to society. Her writing is (I think) accessible to all levels without being patronising, and there is humour and several laugh out loud moments (generally when talking about her agony aunt days). Along with humour though, she is also sensitive...

There will be Oscars

Advantages: An immediate classic
Disadvantages: As it never doubts its viewers' intelligence it's not for everyone

...Ostensibly 'There will be Blood' is a film about oil, what it's actually about is much harder to define. The bare bones of the plot are taken from a 1927 novel, straightforwardly titled 'Oil!', and at its simplest it's the story of Daniel Plainview (Daniel Day-Lewis) and his rise to wealth and power in that business over the first thirty years of the 20th Century. The bulk of the narrative takes place in the California community of Little Boston, which Plainview descends on after a tip they're sat on top of an ocean of oil. Here he meets resistance from Eli Sunday (Paul Dano), the local self-styled church leader, and competition from larger oil companies. As its title suggests 'There will be Blood' is concerned with religion, and fittingly its themes are large and biblical. It is a film about fathers and sons, about duelling brothers...

'There's a feeling I get...'

Advantages: A spectacular, lofty peak overlooking one of the fairest of scenes...
Disadvantages: Well, unless you're lazy, none, really

...north of here that gives easy access to the hydro-electric road leading into Coomloughra (but you might want to get there early in summer: I'd imagine the parking space goes very quickly). The hydro road is not accessible to cars, but provides an easy, if steep, start to the day. As one ascends the views over Dingle Bay become progressively more pleasing, and help make the climb more palatable than it would be otherwise. You'll arrive at the dam staunching the outflow of Lough Eighter soon enough, and the mighty headwall of Coomloughra confronts you. To the left is Beenkeragh, then the serrated edge of the Beenkeragh Ridge leads the eye to the slightly subdued (because it's the furthest away) knob of Carrauntuohill, before the huge blunt pyramid of Caher completes the scene. Crossing the dam and pressing on in the same direction will soon...

Getting there slowly..

Advantages: Not very damaging, lifts hair colour considerably, cheap, worked well on my dark hair
Disadvantages: can be hard to get ratio correct

...sucess i gave up and decided to go into town to take a look at what boots had to offer. Skip forward a few hours and i'm in boots looking for my hair colourant, i almost settled with nice 'n' easy when i spotted Jerome Russell B Blonde high lift powder bleach, i really didn't expect to find it there as it isn't a household name, so i picked up a pack of the powder bleach which cost around £3.50 for 4 sachets (1 sachet required per full head application) and a bottle of B Blonde 40% peroxide cream for £1.50 (1 bottle per full head application). The bleach powder states on the box that it is for light to dark brown hair and that with dark brown hair the result will be a warm blonde colour. When i finally got home i decided to try it out straight away (with a box of medium brown hair dye near by in case of any incidents). Since I only...

There will be blood - oh yes there will!!

Advantages: Spooky, mad movie
Disadvantages: A bit long

...There Will be Blood - I think this title is very fitting for this movie. It's like a warning, there will be blood and oh my gosh, how definitely true this statement was. There Will be Blood is a 2007 film staring Daniel Day Lewis in the lead role. He actually went on to win the 2007 Academy Award for best Actor for his portrayal of Daniel Plainview. Overall the film was nominated for eight Academy Awards. The film is set in California at the turn of the 20th century and follows the fortunes of oil prospectors. Daniel and his son begin a ruthless quest for wealth and oil field domination and are determined that nothing will get in their way. The film starts out quite eerily in setting the scene. In fact for the first 15 minutes or so there is no talking and the only sounds we hear is from the spooky cello and piano music...

Get Smart - Much Better Than Expected!

Advantages: Very funny in parts - Steve Carrell
Disadvantages: A tad too long

...smile and there were alot of laughs (most of which came in the first half of the film I thought). The stunts are well executed and I particularly enjoyed the one where some agents escape from a tall building only to be a few inches from the ground; Max hasn't realised this and is still panicking about how to get down! There is also quite a good stunt involving a train. There are a few nods to Bond here and there as you might expect, including a really big bad guy, which also adds to the fun. I have heard some people compare it to Johnny English and I can see where they are coming from. The music is edgy and spy like in a Mission Impossible kind of way, but again in a kind of spoof like manner. If you go into this film not expecting much then I think that you will be pleasantly surprised. Oh and there is also quite a funny scene...
