GHD Ceramic Straighteners *** UPDATED***

Advantages: Quick to heat up, good result, easy to use

I am no expect but i have tried quite a few different hair straighteners by borrowing friends etc!! After a few subtle hints on my part my boyfriend brought me my GHD staighteners for christmas last year and they are my favourite item in my bedroom!! GHD Ceramic Straighteners

Advantages: Heats up quickly
Disadvantages: Takes a while to cool down before you can put away.

...Excellent Straightener, heats up very quickly, no waiting. Has an on off switch on the handle so that you can wait until the last minute to switch on and heat up. It also signals to you when ready to use with a beeping noise and flashing LED. The ceramic plates are hotter than others I have used and very versitile, can be used to make soft curls, tight curls or to add volumn to your style. The straighten effect is long lasting and does not require much effort to use, the beauty of heating up quickly is that you can refresh your style easily later in the day should you need to. Overall I would recommend these compared to others that I have tried....

GHD's - proffessional ceramice straightners

Advantages: Really do work , straightens hair quickly ,
Disadvantages: expensive , really hot!

...you burn your ear or hand. *Effect * Unlike other straightners where you sometimes have to straighten for about 1/2 an hour to get your hair perfect , with these ones it only takes me about 10 minutes and my hair is looking as straight as a ruler! My hair always looks really shiny after straightening it (not sure what the straightners have to do with that but....hey they do the job)They also make my hair feel really soft. One thing that I dislike about these straightners is that they make my hair really dry with split ends.It seems to be worse with these straightners though , probably because the temperature is a lot higher. *Appearance * The ghd's are black with writing in an orange colour that says 'proffessional styler with ceramic technology'. ...Right, these straightners are gorgeous, and hey I must say, they're great, get nice and hot and really do heat up very quickly and straighten heair well and fast. BUT... I have had 5 pairs of GHD straightners in the last few years...each one has blown up after 12 months!! I kept getting them cause of the new colours they brought out...a good maketing technique there GHD....but the only pair which have yet to blow are the pink pair which I have now! I had these white ones for just 6 monhts and they blew up on me, I do use them alot, but, thats no excuse, they should last alot longer than 6 months!! Yes if they're within warrently, they'll be replaced, but for over £100 you expect at least 3 years from them!!!!! Yes they do heat up very quickly but I got a pair of Remington straightners two days ago, which get hotter in the same time...

Worship the GHD

Advantages: great looking sleek hair within mins, also can curl hair
Disadvantages: makes my hair floopy at the front, you might get scared when you see smoke coming out of your hair

GHD - the straight out winners

Advantages: Amazingly straight hair for EVERY hair type!
Disadvantages: They're incredibly hot! Avoid burns by being extra careful during use..

...'re about 30cms long, slim (about 5cms across), light with the actual ceramic iron part being a biscuity ochre colour. This can get chipped but I doubt it makes much difference to the use of the thing, just doesn't look so nice! They have a long black cable which conquers the problem of plug sockets being in awkward places and a tiny on/off switch just below the ceramic plates. A small red light will flicker when the plates have heated up to their maximum temperature - a sizzling 210 degrees - and this process only takes 3 seconds, a bit different to the Babyliss straighteners I battled with all that time ago! The box is long and slim to match the straighteners, predominantly white with the orange ghd logo on the front and four pictures of the same model with four different hairstyles all created by the straighteners - wonderful waves, cute...

...When I bought my Ghd hair straighteners I bought them as part of a kit along with a heat mat and some other hair related things! One of the things in the set was the Ghd Paddle Hair Brush. The paddle brush is quite large. It has a rectangular head which is about 20cm in length and about 12cm wide. Along the head of the brush is rows of plastic bristles, which is what brushes through your hair to detangle it. Each bristle has a little tiny plastic ball on it, which stops your head getting scratched from the plastic bristles. ...button on the straightners themselves so you dont have to always unplug them although if you are not actually using them i would advise you to unplug them as a safety thing. There is a little red LED light which goes on when the GHD's are plugged in and starts flashing once they have reached their optimum temperature of 200celcius (very hot so dont tough the plates). The ceramic plates are the key to these amazing straightners, they conduct heat well and so why such a high temperature can be reached and they are smooth and so your hair runs smoothly through them. Usually you only need to pass them over a hair section once and it will be straight altho sometimes a few times is needed.
