1997 fiesta ghia

Advantages: cheap to run, nippy, the ghia extras.
Disadvantages: limited space in boot and back.

...This review is for a 1997 Fiesta 1.25 zetec Ghia . This is the third Fiesta i have owned, starting with a MK 2 then a MK 3 and to this current MK 4 model. This is also the longest i have ever kept a car over 8 years and still going strong, although i am looking to change to maybe a focus as i need more space. So onto what makes this the best car i have driven. Firstly the 16 valve zetec engine is very responsive and great around town. Very nippy pulling away from a standing position due to the car being so light. Even motorway journeys are a pleasure and recently drove down to Bournemouth which took 3.5 hours, but did not feel like a strain. This Ghia model includes front electric windows, power steering, alloy wheels, metallic paint, alarm, electronic wing mirrors and a Rds stereo. You also get a simulated walnut centre...

A girl's first car - 1995 Fiesta Ghia

Advantages: Tidy, reliable, economical, a lot of character
Disadvantages: Not much space on the back seats; prone to rust

...I have a 1995 Fiesta Ghia (Ghia means it has snazzy extras like electric windows, remote central locking and one of those buttons to open the boot with). It's N reg but I'm quite proud of the fact that it was one of the first Fiestas in the 'new' shape - okay, I know there's another new shape since that one, but you know what I mean. I always feel a bit smug when I see an N reg in the old shape, and like to imagine the owners feeling all awe-inspired when they see me nipping by in my smoother, more ergonomic silver shuttle. So maybe I'm exaggerating, just a little bit. The Fiesta is never going to be a top-of-the-range, desirable model or the envy of all who survey it. The Fiesta 1.4 Ghia

Ford Focus Ghia 2ltr saloon. (Update 22nd May 05)

Advantages: Good all round visibility, responsive acceleration, on board computer, fold-down rear seats.
Disadvantages: difficult removal of rear headrests

Review of Ford Focus 2.0

Fiesta Ghia.....Would definately have another.

Advantages: Reliable, simple, great road holding.
Disadvantages: Very few, perhaps more leg room for rear passengers

...I have been driving for 20 years and until i bought this Fiesta I have always owned and driven medium or large family size cars. However downsizing became the option when we decided to have 2 cars in the family. My husband now drives a bigger car and i have the small typical girly car! My Fiesta Ghia is a P Reg and i bought it with around 40,000 on the clock i have now done 58,000, therefore have travelled 18,000 miles in 4 years....not many miles hey and this car is now considered as very low mileage for 11 years old. So, having decided to downsize i was a bit sceptical as i was led to believe that smaller cars were noisier and less comfortable, however i have been very impressed with this little baby and would most definately choose another Fiesta again. RIDE: The ride is very smooth and the engine idles and runs quietly...

Review of Ford Fiesta 1.25

V6 Mondeo Ghia.

Advantages: Quick, comfortable, value for money.
Disadvantages: Fuel consumption, insurance costs.

...I have owned a v6 Mondeo for over a year now. I find it comfortable and easy to drive. It’s also fun at the lights when you leave unsuspecting BMW drivers in your wake. This car is not a sports car but it is fast enough for a bit of fun. This is a heavy car therefore don’t expect too much. It is also expensive to run in my experience you can expect no more than 34mpg, and when pushed expect that to drop to less than 23mpg. Insurance is also high (group 17) I’m 27 with five years NCB and I pay over £700 per year. If you can justify the running costs the Mondeo offers excellent value for money, the extras you get on the ghia are outstanding. I have not experienced any major mechanical problems, but have had a few minor electrical problems, nothing to put me off buying this car. In conclusion do not buy this...

Review of Ford Mondeo 2.5 V6 

Ford focus Ghia 1.6 VVTI 2005

Advantages: Great handling, comfortable, good specification
Disadvantages: Too costly for main dealer service, noisy on motorways

...is mainly down to the control blade rear suspension. It really is superb. The engine is ok, the 115bhp is acceptable, but for round town it's more than enough, quite economical too. Around town usually returns mid 20's, and on the motorway with the cruise control on you can get mid 40mpg. It's a little noisy though at motorway speeds, even with the Ghia's extra sound proofing. The spec on the Focus is really quite good - all round electrics, cruise control, cd, aircon, self dimming rear view mirror, alloys, velour seats (quite comfortable with the lumbar support adjustment), to mention just the main items. It even has a aircon cooled glove box. It has been quite reliable, but the car is only covering 4,000 miles a year. It needed a coil pack last year, as this was shorting and causing a mis-fire. I was not impressed...

The Ford Focus 2.0l Ghia (Auto)

Advantages: Almost too many to list: interior space, comfort and convenience of seats, driving position, road holding, reasonably economic, auto a dream
Disadvantages: Luggage space limited and slightly awkward shape; not greart for towing due to weight limit..

...The Focus is a great car and has been since first launched. Now available with a huge range of combinations of engine and body style. The smaller engines are reporteds to be a bit underpowered, while the 1.6 seems to be everyone's fasvourite. The review considers the 2.0l petrol auto Ghia. Chosen because I wanted an auto and did not want the slight loss of power this would mean in a smaller engine. The auto is great in traffic and eliminates the thought of stalling. The 'down' side is that this confidence may encourage one to pull out when appraochng vehicles are rather closer than normal. But that is bad driving and not a bad car. Could do with more gears than three plus overdrive although the auto works fine in every road condition. I got a caravan after buying the car and would not have this combination as a first option...

Mondeo 2.5 Ghia X Estate

Advantages: Comfortable, fast and reliable

...The Mondeo 2.5 Ghia X is a really good car - if only it had a BMW badge on the boot then it would get the recognition it derves. Okay, so the 2.5 drinks petrol like it's going out of fashion - but you know that when you buy a 2.5! The engine is smooth and powerful, but does like revs. It'll just about beat 60mph in second gear which makes for great overtaking. The handling is good for such a large estate car; it's no sports car but it is sure footed and consistent. The boot is huge, particularly with the seats down. The interior is roomy all round and there's plenty of gadgets to play with. Mine had SatNav which was good when it was working - two units were replaced under warranty until the dealer realised that the problem was with the aerial... Ford dealers don't seem to be any better or any worse than the rest, but they are...
