Laying the ghost?

...I knew I was taking a bit of a risk reading ?A Ghost at the Table?, as it does not fit in with the usual books I read. However, I like to extend my reading horizons at times, the blurb on the back of the book was quite intriguing and it had received a number of good reviews so there was a good deal of promise. I?m not going to say that I disliked the book, because I didn?t, but it just didn?t grab me in the way that lots of books do and as a consequence, I admit to finding it hard going. I hate to give up on a book though so I did stick with it but it was a bit hard work at times! The Ghost at the Table is set in the US and is written by Suzanne Berne, who has won the Orange Prize for another of her novels. It takes place one Thanksgiving and focuses on a highly dysfunctional family as they get together to celebrate. The story is told...

Ghost Sweetheart

Disadvantages: Quite girly, not to everyone's taste

...I first tried this perfume as I wanted a fragrance which was light and fresh but not too citrus-y as I have found this scent turns sour after a while. I tried a number of perfumes before I found Ghost Sweetheart. It was quite different from what I would normally try as the packaging is very girly and feminine. The box is a soft pink colour and the perfume bottle is tall and slim, a light pinkish peach in colour with a frosted glass effect. The bottle is quite elegant and a handy shape to put into a makeup bag or handbag. As for the scent itself, it is light and floral and sweet-smelling without being sickly. The scent is not overpowering and makes for a great feminine summer time fragrance to wear during the day or at night. ...This is anothor one of my favourites. Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore in Ghost. This is a very touching story. Sam (Patrick Swayze) and Demi Moore (Molly) and Whoopi Goldberg who won Oscars for this film They are on a night and out sadly sam is stabbed, but they his ghost immediately appears and you see him running after the thugs that killed him. Not too strong but strong enough to be noticed. It is available in 30ml, 50ml and 100ml. I brought a 30ml bottle and it cost £19.00 in Superdrug. It comes in a light blue box, the bottle is simple yet stylish. A misty blue bottle with a silver lid. ...This was a film that I had seen the previews fir and wanted to go and see it but i never managed to get around to it. I was lucky enough to catch this film on my flight to New York and this film kept me highly entertained throughout the flight, if you like Ricky Gervais you will love this film. ..."He Sees dead people?and they annoy him" Bertam Pincus is a dentist. During an operation he "dies" for seven minutes but then comes back to life with the ability to see ghosts. You'd think that it would be pretty cool to see ghosts and be able to talk to them when no one else could see or talk to them. A Political Ghost

Advantages: Good twist at the end, enjoyable read
Disadvantages: Not as full of suspense as previous work

...I picked this book up as it was a political thriller - something that Robert Harris tends to excel in. The book is about a ghostwriter who is called in to help write the memoirs of the British ex-prime minister. His predecessor was found mysteriously drowned and the ghost eventually starts to realise that all is not as it seems with the ex-prime minister and his entourage... This novel is quite a dig at the pro-American sentiments of our own previous prime minister and is quite scathing at times. The political situation provides a great backdrop to the sinister goings-on in this story. The character of the ghost is fairly engaging and Harris presents the ex-PM well - a charming man whose former ambition was to be an actor. The ex-PM's wife is always a bit of an odd figure throughout the book and is not particularly likeable...
