...~~ Purchase ~~ I bought my SP122 at Argos over two years ago along with a compatible and matching Acoustic Solutions SP101 Amplifier, Acoustic Solution SP111 DAB/FM Tuner and a pair of Acoustic Solution AVCS Column Stereo Speakers. I took advantage of a deal that was on offer at the time whereby if you bought the amp, tuner and CD player you would receive the speakers for free. ~~ Set up and Appearance ~~ This is an easy to use and uncomplicated CD unit. It's easy and straight forward to set up and attach to other units. I must admit though, it looked much better in the Argos catalogue than it does now that I have it set up in the living room. SG Special - a Gibson thoroughbred

Advantages: Real Gibson Quality
Disadvantages: Heart Stopping price tag

...A colleague at work has one of these. Having fallen into a conversation about our axes and telling him about my Les Paul it was inevitable that we would end up round his house jamming and trying out each other's instruments. The SG Special is a budget version of the SG Standard but over £300 cheaper. The differences? Chrome hardware, dot fret markers instead of trapezoid, a soft gig bag instead of the hard case, no pickup covers and no binding on the neck or body. Otherwise there is no difference. The build quality, materials, electricals and finish are 100% Gibson. She is a fine looking machine and a dream to play. The SG was Gibson's answer to the criticism that the Les Paul is too heavy. The SG body is thinner and lighter, although later Les Pauls like mine are considerably lighter than the old school ones...

Review of Gibson SG Special Electric Guitar

1 of the elite trio of acoustic brands!!!

Advantages: will last a life time, sounds great, plays great, will not depreciate
Disadvantages: costly to begin with

...After playing for 12 years I had finally found an acoustic that was worthy of being purchased by myself. The acoustic market has an elite trio which consists in my opinion of: Taylor, Gibson and Martin. All offer fantastic tones, comfortable playability, exceptional intonation and superb craftsmanship. They are the bench mark of acoustics that offer outstanding quality which other brands cannot match. To put it quite simply, If you purchase a Martin you will never have to buy another acoustic again, they are the perfect tool for all professional players. In my experience I have never seen one loose any value or sound bad. My advice would be to certainly shop around to find the best deals and Do not just settle on the first that you pick up unless you are instantly happy with its feel and sound. GPS Speculation (Spook Country - William Gibson)

Advantages: fun, stylish, often insightful
Disadvantages: probably for fans only

..."Spook Country" takes place in the same universe as Gibson's excellent Pattern Recognition, and the Blue Ant agency with its mover and shaker Hubertus Bigend who moved stealthily behind scenes in that novel figures prominently in this one as well. Thus, comparisons are almost inevitable. I have to say that I liked the new offering significantly less, although it's still a very enjoyable read, especially for a fan. "Spook Country" brings the virtual reality (or something closely resembling that) out of the confines of the cyber and into the realspace. review of Epiphone Hummingbird Acoustic Guitar

Advantages: very playable

...The Epipiphone Hummingbird is my first Acoustic guitar i have not stolen off my dad. £300 is not a bad deal, seeing as the Gibson acoustics are all around £3000. The looks and finish of this guitar are very nice, i enjoy graphics on my guitar as long as they arent too loud, and this 'mockingbird' illustration is just plain pleasent. The shape of the guitar is perfect so that it can sit on your lap for hours and not ache, partly due to its incredibly light weight. The playability is pretty much perfect, the best you can get for a £300 acoustic, and times I thought I was playing an electric, the fretboard was just so slim, the strings were at perfect distance from the fretboard. The sound is not as good as the playability I must admit, probably because of the lightweight body, it is not hard enough to sustain the notes for a very long...

Gibson SG standard...

Advantages: Stunning looks. Amazing sound (Clean + Distorted). Amazingly Light.
Disadvantages: Newer Models can be weak at the neck.

Advantages: Sound, build, playability
Disadvantages: Rounded back can be awkward at first.

Therfore no collection would be complete without an axe from one of the world's finest and best known acoustic producers. Ovation. I own the Ovation Celebrity Deluxe which i believe is the finest looking in the Ovation range. However, you will also know that from my other reviews, Im left handed with the guitar which narrows your choice in colour. For a Right hander, the choices include, Black, Natural, Wine, Green and a sunburst effect top and also available in vasious mapel finishes. Im afraid to say my only choice was Black. Still it does look rather fetching and contrasts well with the Marquetry effect leaves around the multiple sound holes. Being an Ovation, it does come...

...I bought this product in a music shop near my house for £1399.99 about 4 months ago(Jan/Feb) and have been playing it everyday for about 1-4hours. I'm using a Marshall MG15CD with it and it just sounds .... fabulous. The body of the guitar is made of mahogony wood and comes in either cherry red or ebony- I have the cherry red one. The neck is also made of mahogony wood and of rosewood. I already own a Fender Stratocaster and am happy to say that the Gibson SG is much lighter and has a much nicer sound. The neck has 22frets and the guitar has two humbuckers, a three way switch and two tone and two volume controls. The sound quality of most electric guitars depends on the amplifier you use-but not with this guitar. This guitar sounds great with any type of amplifier -be it a 500w or 5w ,small or big, expensive or cheap etc...
