ABIT NF7-S V2.0
Review of ABIT NF7-S - motherboard - ATX - nForce2 SPP by leeclark8

Advantages: Second to none for overclocking
Disadvantages: errrrrrm.....

...based on nForce2 chipset, the NF7-S supports the latest AMD Athlon XP processors with 200/266/333 FSB, and features dual 400MHz DDR controllers that can deliver up to a 50% increase in bandwidth. The advanced memory architecture means that the latest 3D games and multimedia applications are able to run smoother and faster than ever before, giving you unparalleled system performance. It comes with 3 DDR DIMM slots to support up to 3GB of DDR memory, and optimized 128-bit architecture reduces memory latency. With the nForce2 MCP2-T, it delivers Dolby Digital 5.1 cinematic-quality sound. I chose to use a mobile Athon 2500 cpu, which coupled with 512Mb of quality pc3200 DDR Memory, this machine will overclock to speeds of close to 3 GHZ!!! Choose a good quality video card and your machine will be one of the best on the market for gaming... Read review

Abit delivers again
Review of ABIT NF7 - motherboard - ATX - nForce2 SPP by Speedy156

Advantages: Good quality board, great features, easy to set up
Disadvantages: None that I can think of

...I have been using Abit boards for five years now and have always found them to be high quality and easy to set up. Manuals are clear and comprehensive, which is a bonus when confronted with ever more complicated BIOS's. The NF7 is based around the nForce 2 chipset, which is extremely stable. The version 2.0 board I have is the basic one without onboard video, though I prefer to install my own video card anyway, so this suits me. It does, however have excellent onboard 5.1 sound, including optical out, though if you have an old non-USB joystick, you will have nowhere to plug it in! You can, of course, get round this by installing your old soundcard and disabling onboard sound, but this seems a bit yestertech! The board will support all the latest Socket A processors and can take up to 3Gb of RAM, so you will have no shortage... Read review

Gigabyte this
Review of Gigabyte GA-7NNXP - motherboard - ATX - nForce2 Ultra 400 by bad_bob00

Advantages: Supports fast CPU's (upto Athlon 3200+), Crammed with features
Disadvantages: None really

...for high-speed computing thanks to the NVIDIA nForce2 Ultra 400 platform, allowing for the Athlon XP Barton 3200+'s to be used to their full potential. Thanks to the dual channel DDR controller your computer has a lot more power (and if you wish to you can have 3GB of fast memory!!) the AGP8X graphics interface means you are able to use the best graphics cards on this, and will be able to enjoy thrilling games such as Doom3 in all their glory (or gory!). 5 PCI slots are included, which allows plenty of room for other cards to be inserted. This is quite a high number, especially as the motherboard is already crammed with so many other good features. Dual LAN is included, so is IEEE 1394 (Firewire), and the latest USB 2.0 allowing fast transfer of data and enables the use of the latest peripherals. Serial ATA and IDE RAID allow you to have even... Read review

GigaByte 2000 Dual bios ATX Mother Board
Review of Gigabyte Slot 1 GA-BX2000 - motherboard - ATX - i440BX by m.holmes

Advantages: Very well built with good range of features
Disadvantages: none really - but it's not cheap !

...I bought one of these motherboard for a business system build. It was a joy to install and use. This really is the Rolls Royce of motherboards. It has a ‘Dual Bios’ that ensures that even if the first bios fails – usually a total disaster – the other one takes over. Brilliant! There is loads of room for expansion and its has several PCI and ISA slots along with an AGP slot. The manual is excellent and installing the drivers is very straightforward. The motherboard has many useful features that you won’t find on a cheaper board. Push the boat out and buy one if you want trouble free computing. Keep an eye out for any new models that will replace this model also.... Read review

Super Deluxe
Review of ASUS A7N8X Deluxe - motherboard - ATX - nForce2 SPP by googoos

Advantages: cheap
Disadvantages: none

...The ASUS A7N8X Deluxe is really intended for the hardcore gamers out there. I build my gaming pc with an Athlon XP 3200+, a 1GB of kingmax DDR400 and Radeon 9700 pro. This motherboard has a built in 6-channel SoundStorm Dolby Digital soundcard, 4 usb ports, printer port, 5 PCI slots and 2 firewire ports. Unlike the other motherboards that have a built in video card, this one has none so you have to buy a separate video card and plug it on the AGP slot (8x). The motherboard holds 3 memory slots which accept DDR RAM (PC 2100, 2700 and 3200). If you have two 2 memory sticks with the same capacity and speed, you can enable the dual channel capability of the motherboard to be able to increase the performance. It supports all the Athlon Xp and Duron CPU models of up to 3400+, plus the socket A version of the new AMD Sempron up to 2800... Read review

Old but Strong
Review of MSI K7N2 Delta2 Platinum - motherboard - ATX - nForce2 Ultra 400 by djohan

Advantages: Durable
Disadvantages: Not found, yet

...Though I have just run a new PC-shop, I am still using my old Personal Computer to run my business which is built with an MSI K7N2 Delta2 motherboard. This socket-A (socket-462) motherboard is quite durable as I have been using it for about 2 years! I am using an AMD Athlon XP Processor, an 80GB Seagate ATA Harddrive (it also supports SATA), a 256MB memory, and Nvidia GeForce2 MX400 as my display adapter to build my PC. Microsoft Windows XP (Professional Edition) is my operating system. K7N2 Delta2 comes with an integrated audio chip (5.1 channel H/W audio) and an onboard 10/100 ethernet. Personally, these onboard features are good enough for me to hear music and to connect to my local area network. The Package This Nvidia nForce 2 Ultra 400 / IGP chipset based motherboard comes with a comprehensive user manual, an MSI Driver... Read review

...I have this motherboard for about a year now and it is still a top class motherboard. This was bought in Pc World for about £90 and this borad is still going strong. This would be my third motherboard after 2 Aopen boards failing me within a few monthsof oneanother. It also has: 1 x AGP slot 5 xPCI slots 1x Comminications port. 3x DDR Slots(Dual DDR 400 support up to 3GB) It also has RAID capabilities and S-ATA. ABIT of NForce can go a long way
Review of ABIT NF7-S2 - motherboard - ATX - nForce2 Ultra 400 by RichardSlater

Advantages: Fast, Stable, Reliable, Low Cost
Disadvantages: Fan not so reliable, not cutting edge technology

...of the larger heatsink/fan combinations. The IDE and Floppy connectors are close to the drives, without being up so close that the cables become crumpled. The only flaw with the connectors is the placement of the ATX and the ATX12v connector as it requires the thick ATX cable to be double back under the power supply. DDR Memory can be fitted to the board via the three, DIMM slots, these slots can take up to 1GB DIMMs each totalling a respectable maximum of 3GB (the technical limit of any mother board is 3.5GB) the motherboard supports Dual-DDR mode, which is intended to speed up access to memory by doubling the number of reads and writes that can be made in a clock cycle. However reviews often suggest that Dual-DDR does not provide the performance increase that some expect. As suggested by its name the NF7-S is powered by the NForce2 chipset... Read review

This Motherboards Abit Of Alright Actually
Review of ABIT NF7-S - motherboard - ATX - nForce2 SPP by dfjericho

Advantages: Dual Channel Memory Controller, Sound-Storm with digital output, Serial ATA support, Great Overclocking
Disadvantages: South-bridge can sometimes get a little warm

...feature is the fact that there is what is replacing the IDE connection for hard-drives and slowly optical drives inbuilt into this motherboard - SERIAL ATA. Serial ATA is a new technology designed to give better performance and make drives even easier to install. Instead of having a "master" and "slave" scenario like the IDE channels, Serial has just the 1 Drive allocation, thus removing the need for jumpers and configuration. Serial ATA support is supplied via the Silcon Image SR3112 controller and supports single drives and 2 drives in Raid 0 and raid 1 configuration. Raid 0 is where 2 identical drives - in the case seagate 200 Gb drives "look" as if they are 1 huge 400 Gb drive with the read and write speed increased as the data is written to each drive alternatively - i.e odd blocks on drive A, even on Drive B. Windows does not see... Read review

Review of Gigabyte GA-945P-DS3 - motherboard - ATX - i945P by MAllen400

Advantages: cheap, does the job
Disadvantages: graphics card obscures one of the pci express slots

...Having no idea which Motherboard we needed to buy, we looked on the internet to see what was going for what price. Having used Gigabye Motherboards in the past and never had any trouble with them the wisest thing to do was to keep to Gigabyte. We decided on the Gigabyte GA-945P-DS3 purely on the features it offered. Cost Around £46. For a motherboard this is good. Features Width: 30.5 cm Depth: 19.3 cm Compatible Processors: Pentium 4, Celeron D, Pentium D, Core 2 Duo, Core 2 Extreme 64-bit Processors Compatibility: Built-in Processor Socket: LGA775 Socket Multi-Core Support: Dual-Core FSB Speed: 1066 MHz Max Power Connectors: 4-pin ATX12V connector, 24-pin main power connector SATA 11 with 4 SATA 11 connectors 3 pci slots, 1pci express x 16, 3 pci x 1 takes up to 4 gb of ddr2 memory Has on board audio which is great...
