GigaByte 2000 Dual bios ATX Mother Board
Advantages: Very well built with good range of features
Disadvantages: none really - but it's not cheap !
...I bought one of these motherboard for a business system build.
It was a joy to install and use. This really is the Rolls Royce of motherboards. It has a ?Dual Bios? that ensures that even if the first bios fails ? usually a total disaster ? the other one takes over. Brilliant!
There is loads of room for expansion and its has several PCI and ISA slots along with an AGP slot.
The manual is excellent and installing the drivers is very straightforward. The motherboard has many useful features that you won?t find on a cheaper board.
Push the boat out and buy one if you want trouble free computing. Keep an eye out for any new models that will replace this model also....

Quality Motherboard
Advantages: Speed, Ease of installation
Disadvantages: None obvious
...I purchased this board approximately two months ago, after many hours scouring the internet for reviews, ratings and opinions about which was the best motherboard for my newly purchased Pentium III 550.
A number of factors swung the decision to the Abit, including the ability to change all bus and multiplier speeds from the bios without having to fiddle with jumpers. On receiving the board I was pleasantly surprised to see the amount of documentation which accompanied it, having bought boards in the past which come with a few sheets of badly translated english. I had no problems installing the board, and it fired up first time with the PIII 550, a Creative GeForce DDR, a sound blaster live 1024, an Adaptec 2940 scsi adapter and a cheapo bnc network card. I also slotted in 256MB of PC100 SDRAM memory. Having enjoyed such an easy...

Very stable
Advantages: Stable, feature rich
Disadvantages: None
...The Asus P2B is a stable and feature rich motherboard. It replaced a TMC motherboard I had which had ?issues? with Nvidia graphics cards. Since the swap my computer has been more stable in general use, as well as when the graphics card is working hard. Asus support the board well, a recent BIOS update added APCI power saving support. You get onboard USB, two EIDE channels, floppy disk controller, two serial ports, one parallel port and two ps/2 ports and the option to connect an infra red port. Wow! There?s lots of setup options to keep the tweakers happy and even the option of an Asus network card, which adds wake on LAN capability. Asus even have free motherboard monitoring/trouble shooting software available for download! If your slot 1 computer crashes a lot, try changing motherboards ? you could be pleasantly surprised....

I've had the ABIT BE6 motherboard for over a year and it's worked great with the Pentium III 450 MHz CPU overclocked to 558 MHz (front side bus at 124 MHz).
Recently, I've upgraded the CPU to Pentium III / 800 MHz (front side bus at 115MHz) and I've encountered many problems with the onboard HPT366 ATA/66 hard disk controller and my IBM 20G Deskstar ATA/66 hard disk.
I've never had any problems until I upgraded to the P3/800 CPU. This required downloading and installing the new ABIT BIOS (TH) and the new HPT366 drivers. My troubles began then...

Motherboard by Gigabyte
Advantages: cheap, does the job
Disadvantages: graphics card obscures one of the pci express slots
...Having no idea which Motherboard we needed to buy, we looked on the internet to see what was going for what price.
Having used Gigabye Motherboards in the past and never had any trouble with them the wisest thing to do was to keep to Gigabyte.
We decided on the Gigabyte GA-945P-DS3 purely on the features it offered.

Very good upgrade possibilities
Advantages: Lots of upgradability and CHEAP!
Disadvantages: No flip-chip(newest CPUs)
...The abit BP6 is overclockers and computer tweakers paradise. Not only can you have 2 Socket 370 chips on one board (against Intels rules) but you have loads of overclocking facilities too. You can change the bus from 66Mhz upwards with very small steps, which makes it perfect to tweak your computer setup. The board is ATX so supports the usual power-saving etc. facilities. I have used this board for quite some time and the only problem I have noticed is with the bundled "cpu-monitor" which has a very strange bug which seems to make the computer powerdown. If you replace this with a monitor from the 'net you can resolve this problem.
Great upgrade possibilities, especially due to the 2x IDE and 2x UDMA IDE ports (ie. 8 IDE drives) and the number of PCI slots. AGP is also on the board.
Comparing my dual celeron 466 to my dual pentium...

Happy Birthday to my BE6 II
Advantages: Probably the best board ever to come out of ABit
Disadvantages: Try finding one now :(
...My BE6-II is one year old, one year of solid use and a degree of abuse! It's the best board i've used by a long shot.
My old Celeron 333 (slot 1) ran at 475mhz on this board and I grinned a big grin. Then a 633 fc-pga went in (on a socket convertor) and it's been running at 855mhz since December 2000.
I've got 2 hard-drives, cd-drive, cd-rewriter, network card, modem, agp graphics card, sound card, scanner, printer, usb mouse and a host of other toys plugged into this thing and it is rock stable no matter what i throw at it.
ABit's install manual was, as usual, chock full of diagrams and step by step instructions, even a first timer could build a machine from their manuals without any worries....

Apple iPod shuffle 1 GB Silver
Advantages: So light you dont know your wearing it
Disadvantages: You cant go to a specific song without flicking through thelwhole playlist
...Apple iPod shuffle 1 GB Silver
I have never really been into MP3 players, walkmans and all other portable music gadgets but i have recently started training to do a half marathon and to reduce the risk of me dying of boredom (rather than me just keeling over through lack of fitness)whilst completing numberous long training runs i finally decided to buy the ipod shuffle.
Oh my god, this product has changed my entire opinion on hi-tec gadgets. The sound quality is crystal clear and it holds that many songs that even at my padestrian pace i will never get through all the songs before finnishing my run. Because its so light weight including the earphones, i dont even notice im wearing it and although i was concerned that the wires for the headphones might become annoying whilst running you dont notice them either.
You have...

Apple Ipod Shuffle 1 GB - Silver
Advantages: Small, stylish
Disadvantages: Have to use itunes
...When I upgraded my mobile phone, with the upgrade I also got 2 free tickets to see pirates of the caribean (sorry can never spell that word!) and a free Ipod Shuffle. I thought this was great, I was getting the new phone I wanted with freebies, it was even better because I needed a new Ipod as my previous ones were forever breaking, but to tell the truth I didn't have much hope for the Ipod Shuffle either.
At 1.62 inches long and weighing half an ounce this tiny ipod is the worlds smallest music player! Although it is so tiny it holds 1GB, which is about 240 songs, which is more than 120 that the old ipod shuffle could hold. The amount of songs that it can exactly hold depends on the size of the song you are uploading to it. If you are uploading bigger files then you will fit less on and vice versa.
It comes with ear phones...
