...I have found that many razors are fairly inexpensive, as are the blades, but then the blades dont last long and I end up with cuts and scratches. A friend suggested buying a Gillette Venus razor, so I thought I'd give it a go. I was a little shocked at the price to begin with, almost £6 for the razor (with one blade) and then £5.20 for a pack of 4 blades. This is much more than I have paid before and hoped it would be worth it. Once in the bath I soon realised it was money well spent. Attaching the razor blade was very easy and as simple as clicking the 2 parts together, with a clear click noise so I knew it was attached and not going to fall off in the bath. Review of Gillette Venus

Good at first but typical of a wet shave razor

Advantages: Good first time use, 5 blades
Disadvantages: Wears out easily, expensive and overpriced

...After my old Wilkinson Quatro Titanium razor lost much of the of the blades sharpness, I decided it would be time to get a new razor, only this time, I would try something new. The design of the Gillette Fusion caught my eye the most, and I thought that having 5 blades may be better than the 4 on the Wilkinson and offer a more comfortable shave. Upon trying it for the first time, I did find that it was more efficient in cutting the hairs, whilst at the same time more comfortable. The only real difference between the Wilkinson and the Gillette was the extra blade and the design, as the Wilkinson razor was very simplistic in terms of design and colour, whereas the Fusion razor featured more colours and a funkier shape, which was also easier to hold. Gillette Fusion extravagance

Advantages: Very comfortable shave, actually even relaxing to use, you can shave in the shower, its waterproof
Disadvantages: shaving under the nose can be tricky because of the blade size, easily clogged precision trimmer.

A great, girly razor!

Advantages: Gives a close shave, pink, hard to cut yourself
Disadvantages: Not too keen on the vibrating function

...I bought this razor when they first came out. I have had other Venus razors and have thought they were the best razors I had ever used, so when I went on holiday and forgot my razor it was a natural choice for me to get another one. The Venus Vibrance razor is different to the normal Venus razors as you can put a battery in it so that will vibrate as you as shaving. This is meant to exfoliate your legs as you shave and give you a closer shave. The razor comes in a pink colour (which I really like!) and has a white rubbery grip around it so that it is easier to hold so you won't drop it (it can get quite hard with a smooth plastic razor in the shower - I am quite clumsy!) ...front of the mirror!!! The razor head can twist around to fit the contour of your body and get a better grib when shaving. Removing hair from the armpit has become so much easier and I no longer have to use the mirror-as I have confidence that the product can fully do the job of leaving no hair behind!!! While being able to do the job, the razor does not cause much irritation to the skin which is another plus. It is another good quality product from Gilette and I would recommend to those who do enjoy wet shaving....

Gillette Fusion - the ???? a man can get.

Advantages: Good to start with.
Disadvantages: Watch out for those awkward curves!

...I got handed a couple of these as samples at various events over the autumn. Now I've used them both and feel I can give a comprehensive opinion. They are Rubbish. So here's the detail. Its a 5 blade razor, manual, with disposable heads which are really quite expensive (glad I didn't buy mine!). The head also has a single blade on the reverse. The blades are very sharp, and as you expect from Gillette give you a great shave as long as your face doesn't include any curvy bits (Great razor for Max Headroom. Oops, showing my age.) Once you get to those confounding curvy bits (like the jawline, neck or chin) you had better be very careful. I nearly shaved my top lip off first time. The problem, I think, is that the head is just too big. In order to fit the 5 main blades and the extra one on top (more on that in a minute...

Advantages: Durable, good quality of shave, easy to use, good movement

...I had always previously used electric razor and creams but decided to go for a change and try the Venus. The Venus has been highly advertised on the t.v, so I decided to give it a go. I was alarmed however at the price, at a rather expensive £4.99, it came with two replacement blades and a neat holder which can be attatched to the shower wall or unit. I had also paid £1.99 for the "Gillette Satin Care Shaving Gel" which is recommended to be used in conjunction with the Gillette Venus, according to the information on the packaging. The actual razor itself looks very nice and ergonomically is very effective, it has a head which is flexaible and movable- good for ankles and knees. The razor is best for legs, it keeps them smooth and sleek for a good couple of days. The only downside to the product is the expense...
