Caledonian is a good university.
Advantages: Central location, good facilities and good choice of courses
Disadvantages: Only two cash machines (ATMs) for 15000 students
...I am a level four student on the Building Surveying course at Glasgow Caledonian University.
HISTORY & BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Glasgow Caledonian is located on one campus on Cowcadden's Road across from Buchanan Street Bus Station in Glasgow. The University is quite young as it was Glasgow Polytechnic until 1993 when it became a fully fledged university.
The university has 90 undergraduate courses and 40 post graduate courses with over 14,000 students currently studying with 1500 staff.
It comprises of a number of 'schools':
School of Built and Natural Environment
School of business
School of Computing and mathematics
School of Engineering, Science and Design
School of Health and Social Care
School of Life Sciences
School of Law and Social Sciences

University of Glasgow you know you want to!
Advantages: Great city, great people, great choice of courses, high quality teaching
Disadvantages: moving around classes can be a trek depending on your course(s)
...Having studied at the University of Glasgow for 5 years I can honestly say you are highly likely to have a fantastic time studying here.
As well as the young ones fresh out of school, Glasgow University also attracts many 'mature' students and over my 5 years there, I found the camaraderie and banter among young and old alike second to none! With the exception of courses like medicine, dentistry and veterinary medicine, students are required to select 3 subjects to study in their first year. Furthermore, these subjects need not be from the one faculty - i.e. your primary interest may be physics for example but you could also select English Literature and Biology to study in your first year too! While at first this set-up may not seem too appealing, I guarantee that if you choose wisely, you may find that you end up enjoying another...

Glasgow Uni, the best choice of all
Advantages: Choice of Honours subject
Disadvantages: Popular courses oversubscribed
...I first went to Glasgow University from England, eleven years ago as a mature student and loved every moment of the undergraduate course. Glasgow University has many advantages for a mature student, as the first two years are the introductory years. During this time you take 4 ‘level one’ courses and 2 ‘level two’ courses. Its can be difficult to chose as there is such a wide range of subjects particularly in arts or social sciences. You don’t necessarily have to choose the subject on your UCCA form. Its possible in theory to cross faculties as long as the student is capable of doing the course. The advantage for a mature student is not only the wide choice but you can get into the learning /taking exams business more slowly.
During the third year students can either opt for further level one...

Café Hula - Great Homecooked Food in the Heart of Glasgow
Advantages: Great food, good value, handy for Theatre Royal, relaxed atmosphere, excellent service
Disadvantages: None really. But you might get undercharged!
...We first went to Café Hula because of its proximity to the Theatre Royal - it is literally across the road - and we wanted a quick bite to eat pre-show. We went back because the food and service were so good.
Café Hula décor is rustic; with its rough hewn wooden tables and chairs and plentiful foliage it is perfect for relaxed and casual dining. They have a couple of large farmhouse kitchen-style tables, ideal for dining with a larger group of friends. There is a glass-fronted mezzanine level with additional seating upstairs - this restaurant is larger than first impressions might suggest.
They are close to the University and mindful of this they offer lunchtime deals and an extensive made-to-order sandwich and salad takeaway service. However, they do attract the pre-theatre crowd in their droves too and we have even...

Abode hotel glasgow.
Advantages: Fantastic hotel. Trendy. Perfect place to stay when you visit glasgow.
Disadvantages: NOT A THING.
...Well i must say what a wonderful hotel.
Me and my girlfriend booked a night at Abode glasgow on new years eve and loved it so much we booked a second night in the morning just after we enjoyed the best breakfast we had for years. We both live in glasgow but wanted a nice hotel to go back to after enjoying the new year celebrations in george square. We just could not be botherd with the hasle getting home. It is bad enough getting a taxi on a normal saturday night, think what it would be like with ten thousand all trying to get a taxi at the one time.
I loved the way the hotel has been decorated. It is very modern but they have kept alot of the old features. Including a very old life in the centre of the hotel, with a very modern water feature flowing right down the lift framework. I think it is fantastic that they have kept all...

Glasgow's Alive
Advantages: Vibrant, City of Culture
Disadvantages: None
...eating, drinking and shopping. What else is there to do in Glasgow, I hear you ask?
Museums and Art Galleries
---------------------------------
One of the best things about Glasgow is that many Art Galleries and Museums are free to enter. The Hunterian Art Gallery is situated near Glasgow University, and contains paintings by Hunter, but also a replica of Rennie Mackintosh?s Town House. The University is located beside Kelvingrove Park. You will also find the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum here, and this is Glasgow?s Main Gallery.
The Museum of Transport, is dedicated to ?err, Transport, whether it be car, motorcycle or train. There are plenty of restored carriages and the like in here, and it is definitely worth a visit.
Glasgow Green is a park which is adjacent to the Clyde on the East Side of the city, and it is here...

...**** Argyll Hotel****
**Location/Getting there**
This hotel isn't dead central in Glasgow as you have to walk for quite a while down Sauchiehall street but it is a great budget hotel to stay in if you are planning to go to the SECC.They even have maps to help you get from the hotel to the SECC and it only takes about 15 minutes to walk it.
**Reception/staff**
The hotel isn't that glamourous or anything but the staff are always very helpful and friendly. You get the feeling that they like their job which is nice instead of having a scowling member of staff.
**Hotel/Room**
Pretty much every time i have stayed in this hotel i have had the same room. Its pretty standard as rooms go .It is always very clean and tidy,it has a kettle and some biscuits. The shower is okay. They always give us plenty of pillows .
**Other**

My strange night in Glasgow
Advantages: Reasonably priced, good location, breakfast ok
Disadvantages: The staff, lack of digital TV
...~~~Intro~~~
Back in August everything was going fantastically, I'd been on a great barge holiday with friends, work was bearable, things with hubby good, and my self-injury charity work going amazingly.
I became aware of a self-harm conference in Glasgow on 18th October, and thought that it would be a great networking opportunity. After booking a place. I spent some time while bored at work searching on the Internet for a reasonably priced hotel in Glasgow within walking distance of the train station and the conference venue. There was quite a selection, but it seemed that the Merchant Lodge hotel would suit me nicely in terms of location and cost (£50 B&B).
A couple of weeks prior to the event, disaster struck in our charity (perhaps a year down the line when everything is sorted I will review what can go wrong in small...

Glasgow - excellent
Advantages: culture, beauty and all you could want
Disadvantages: weather, rains all the time
...Glasgow uni been around since 1451 and well it's good. One of the best in Scotland at least. Comparable to Edinburgh, although us Glaswegians will never admit it. The selection of cources is as good as you can get. Glasgow being the biggest city in Scotland is also in my opinion the best. I'm originally an Aberdeen man and have family in Edinburgh so I've been round them all. Edinburgh is beautiful, Aberdeen is rich but Glasgow has culture! And who needs money or beauty when you have culture. You will never get bored, the uni campus is beautiul in itself and, as is so rare, all courses are in the same area of the city! A great benefit leading to a concentrated student area full of pubs, clubs and eateries. And last but not least the teaching seems to be damned good. What else could you ask for?...

Hot and spicy in Glasgow
Advantages: Great food
Disadvantages: Not a huge selection
...A recent trip to Glasgow resulted in a couple of meals out, one of which was in The Wee Curry Shop along Byres Road in the West End of Glasgow. The Wee Curry Shop has three outlets in Glasgow: Ashton Lane, which is the West End's bar street and Buccleuch Street, which is near the Glasgow School of Art. I didn't visit either of the other two outlets, but friends who have claim that they are similar, with some differences in the menu.
Location:
41 Byres Street
Glasgow
Tel: 0141 339 1339
Website: http://www.weecurryshopglasgow.co.uk
This is near Hillhead underground station and is within 20 minutes walking distance of Hyndland overland train station.
Decor
First impressions weren't all that brilliant. Going straight in through the door takes you directly into the restaurant and it seems really small, with the bar to...
