Premier Travel Inn Hamilton
Advantages: has everything you need for a good night's sleep
Disadvantages: servie station location
...First of all, I have to say that i do appreciate this hotel being at a motorway service station however, other service stations I have been to have coach stops whereas this hotel is only accessible by car (or if you like to splash the cash, by taxi). The hotel has everything you come to expect from the Travel inn/Travelodge type of hotel with a decent bed, a pull-out sofa, decent bathroom, tea and coffee making facilities, and a few satellite tv channels. My husband and I thought we should give this hotel a try as it is located pretty much bang in the centre between Edinburgh and Glasgow, with Edinburgh around 50 mins away and Glasgow 40mins away taking traffic into account. The hotel is also an OK price, coming in at 47pounds a night.
One area i was disappointed in was the fact that despite it being in a service station, our...

Café Hula - Great Homecooked Food in the Heart of Glasgow
Advantages: Great food, good value, handy for Theatre Royal, relaxed atmosphere, excellent service
Disadvantages: None really. But you might get undercharged!
...spotted the odd thespian here too (including John Savident (Coronation "Ashley, I say, Ashley" Street) who was starring in HMS Pinafore).
I am lead to believe that Café Hula is run by a husband and wife team, both of whom operate mainly back of house, although it has one of those fairly open dining/kitchen areas. It is a bustling and busy place but with a relaxing buzz; it has been busy on each occasion that we have eaten here (although that has been either Friday or Saturday early evening) and I would definitely recommend booking at the weekend to avoid disappointment.
We have only ever eaten here pre-theatre and each time it has been a very positive and enjoyable experience.
The staff are mainly young, and are enthusiastic, friendly and efficient. Some are from overseas, possibly students in Glasgow, and their...

Abode hotel glasgow.
Advantages: Fantastic hotel. Trendy. Perfect place to stay when you visit glasgow.
Disadvantages: NOT A THING.
...Well i must say what a wonderful hotel.
Me and my girlfriend booked a night at Abode glasgow on new years eve and loved it so much we booked a second night in the morning just after we enjoyed the best breakfast we had for years. We both live in glasgow but wanted a nice hotel to go back to after enjoying the new year celebrations in george square. We just could not be botherd with the hasle getting home. It is bad enough getting a taxi on a normal saturday night, think what it would be like with ten thousand all trying to get a taxi at the one time.
I loved the way the hotel has been decorated. It is very modern but they have kept alot of the old features. Including a very old life in the centre of the hotel, with a very modern water feature flowing right down the lift framework. I think it is fantastic that they have kept all...

Budget accomodation gem
Advantages: Location, Price, parking
Disadvantages: Breakfast
...hotel and here's why. Charing cross is not far from the end of the famous sauchiehall (Soggy hall) street which is the Glasgow equivalent of oxford street. This means that you are within 5 mins walking distance of the very center of glasgow.
In addtion to this the location means that from a transport perspective you are also very well siutated with easy access to the M8, the charing cross train station right next door and glasgow airport just a few miles away. If travelling by car there is a multistorey car park which only charges you £1 for over night parking which can be far more if you stay in one of the other city hotels.
TOP TIPS
Don't eat the breakfast
Ask for a room higher up in the building as if you get a room on the wrong side and low down you can hear the train announcment until late at night.
Don't eat at the hotel...

My strange night in Glasgow
Advantages: Reasonably priced, good location, breakfast ok
Disadvantages: The staff, lack of digital TV
...charities!), and I didn't know whether I should still attend or not. Being able to cancel the hotel up to 48 hours before (the conference wouldn't have been refunded but I didn't pay for that) I had time to decide, but in the end I thought the trip would do me good, and I had never been to Glasgow before.
Wednesday 17th was my last day at work before the conference and then a week's holiday, so I boarded the 17:30 from Carlisle to Glasgow (rather than the 17:27 from Carlisle to home in Workington) in a happy holiday mood. Even happier with my little bottle of wine and Walkers crisps - Virgin trains do have some advantages.
~~~Finding the hotel~~~
I arrived at Glasgow on time at 18:46. I was aware that the hotel was within walking distance (and didn't want to waste money on a taxi), but other than turning right out of the station I...
Glasgow's Alive
Advantages: Vibrant, City of Culture
Disadvantages: None
...Gosh, I am bored this afternoon. It?s a holiday, and I feel I should be doing something, however my hubby is working all afternoon, and so I have been a little lazy. I even watched the Brazil Turkey match this morning, without being forced to. Anyway, continuing in the theme of Travel reviews, I would thought I would write about a town that is a little more closer to home that my last few opinions!
I live on the West Coast of Scotland, and it is about 45 minutes drive on a good day, to reach the town of Glasgow. I first moved to Scotland in 1993, and so I have had plenty of opportunity to sample the shopping, nightlife and culture in this town.
Getting to Glasgow
-----------------------
Well, if you like you can fly in. Glasgow International Airport is about twelve miles west of the city, and has great links via the M8...
Excellent travel system
Advantages: Folding down, multifunctional
Disadvantages: Slightly heavy
...Being a first time Mum, I searched around all the high street shops for a functional and attractive travel system. Out of all the prams this one had the easiest folding down system, even tho it was slightly on the heavy side I could fold it down with 1 hand! The carry cot was great for the first 4 months fitting in to the pram snuggly as the seat folded flat (which I found alot of other prams didn't do) The car seat had a base that made it so easy to take the baby in and out of the car (no messing around with seat belts every time!) It is also very well padded, however it didnt come with cushioned protectors on the straps. When we were taking baby home for the first time, the midwife told us it needed them which were only £5 extra to buy. She's in the buggy part now which has three postions and harnesses which is great. Overall fab...
cheap hotel in glasgow
Advantages: -
Disadvantages: --
...**** Argyll Hotel****
**Location/Getting there**
This hotel isn't dead central in Glasgow as you have to walk for quite a while down Sauchiehall street but it is a great budget hotel to stay in if you are planning to go to the SECC.They even have maps to help you get from the hotel to the SECC and it only takes about 15 minutes to walk it.
**Reception/staff**
The hotel isn't that glamourous or anything but the staff are always very helpful and friendly. You get the feeling that they like their job which is nice instead of having a scowling member of staff.
**Hotel/Room**
Pretty much every time i have stayed in this hotel i have had the same room.Its pretty standard as rooms go .It is always very clean and tidy,it has a kettle and some biscuits.The shower is okay.They always give us plenty of pillows .
Hot and spicy in Glasgow
Advantages: Great food
Disadvantages: Not a huge selection
...A recent trip to Glasgow resulted in a couple of meals out, one of which was in The Wee Curry Shop along Byres Road in the West End of Glasgow. The Wee Curry Shop has three outlets in Glasgow: Ashton Lane, which is the West End's bar street and Buccleuch Street, which is near the Glasgow School of Art. I didn't visit either of the other two outlets, but friends who have claim that they are similar, with some differences in the menu.
Location:
41 Byres Street
Glasgow
Tel: 0141 339 1339
Website: http://www.weecurryshopglasgow.co.uk
This is near Hillhead underground station and is within 20 minutes walking distance of Hyndland overland train station.
Decor
First impressions weren't all that brilliant. Going straight in through the door takes you directly into the restaurant and it seems really small, with the bar to...
