FREE DVDs
Advantages: Free trial, large choice, post included, new realeases
Disadvantages: see review
...I like movies and I like freebies, so when you get offered both in one swoop you?re bound to accept! I used my two week free trial with this company and remained with them for a couple of monthsbefore moving on to try many other companies free trials (and winning a new DVD player on Tesco DVD rental site on their free trial offer). I then had an email from DVDs 365 asking me to go back, and offering me a free DVD if I did so. I had just left Tesco (with my new DVD player) so I chose to go back with them.
∆◊◊ THE SERVICE THEY OFFER ∆◊◊
Basically it?s like going to a video shop and hiring films on DVD, except you don?t pay for each film you chose ? rather a monthly fee for which you can watch as many movies as you can fit in, for us this is usually around 8 a month (2 a week usually weekends...

Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54
Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.
...At first I wasn't convinced by up-scaling DVD player technology but was persuaded after reading an article in "What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision" magazine. Unable to afford a Blu-Ray player my sister and I bought the Panasonic DVD-S54 to match our parents brand new Panasonic TX-32LZD80 LCD television as their Christmas 2008 present. Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied.
On Christmas day when opened we found a relatively small box tightly packed with the player in polystyrene packaging. All the components such as cables, remote and manuals were well presented in their own protective plastic bags, to keep them protected. The player...

Martina Cole - Close
Advantages: another cole classic
Disadvantages: not as good as some of her previous work
...Martina Cole - Close
I couldn't wait to buy the new book from Martina Cole, Close and even though I cant stand to read hardback books, when I saw it in Tesco's for a discounted price I snapped it up and rushed home with a big bar of chocolate to begin the read.
Unlike most Cole books this particular one seemed to take me a little while to get into the plot. For those who have yet the pleasure of read a Cole classic I will tell you that all her books are about the crime and gangster world of the London streets. The books are often filled with plenty of violence and skulduggery.
The main two characters of this book are Lilly and Pat Brodie. You begin the book with them as a young couple just starting out in life and as the book progresses we follow their complicated lives through the tough world that is the London crime...

Close to the knuckle (duster)
Advantages: A detailed story with good, strong characterisation written in true Martina Cole fashion
Disadvantages: Same old, slightly tired, plot and definitely not as gripping as previous Martina Cole offerings
...I am a very recent convert to the draw of Martina Cole novels. I think I read my first of her novels sometime last year, and since then I've worked my way through all her books from the earliest to the latest. "Close" is her thirteenth novel and most recent blockbuster, hitting the shelves sometime in mid October. The sort of genre she writes under could be loosely described as crime/thriller fiction, with a hard, gruesome edge. She tends to mainly write about East End villains, their wives and families. There is no exception to this pattern with "Close". Again, it's set in the East end of London and tells the tale of the rise and fall of a gangland family. It's graphic and it's violent - everything you expect a Martina Cole novel to be.
Lily Diamond is our "heroine", a 16 year old factory worker, who meets and falls in love...

A Close Subject
Advantages: Convenient and easy to use
Disadvantages: Lower quality than a macro tube lens.
...Close up lenses are designed to be screwed onto the front of your normal camera lens in order to change the closest focusing distance. The Canon 500D Close-up Lens is a small double-element lens that screws onto the filter threads on a standard (non-macro) lens. Such close-up lenses result in higher magnification when used with longer telephoto lens.
In essence they allow you to get close up to your subject matter and are ideal for macro-photography. It allows your normal lens to be focused at a much closer distance- resulting in a higher magnification of the subject. The Canon 500D Close-up Lens is intended to be used on lenses with a focal length of 70mm-300mm and is designed to be used with most Canon EF lenses on the market.
The Canon 500D is a doublet type close-up lens that gives a correction for chromatic aberration. What...

the glenn miller orchestra uk
Advantages: great big band music
Disadvantages: none
...The Glenn Miller Orchestra UK was founded by Ray McVay in the 80's . This was done after talks with the Glenn Miller Estate, who had listened to many of Ray McVay's tracks.
Who is Ray McVay?
Ray McVay was born in the late 30's in Scotland. He became a professional musician at the tender age of 13 as a rocking sax player. In the 50's he became a music director for many big names such as Gene Vincent, Eddie Cochran, Conway Twitty and Billy Fury.
As Rays name got bigger and better known in the music industry, and fronted his own show band known as the Ray McVay Orchestra. He started to play for the Mecca Organization playing around the country before headlining at Mecca's big venue, the Lyceum Ballroom in London's west end.. Ray McVay then became a household name in the UK when he was featured on the TV...

Too close for comfort?
Advantages: An absorbing storyline which is easy to read
Disadvantages: Over too soon
...Linwood Barclay has been writing for years, both as a journalist and an author, but recently his popularity has grown considerably mainly due to his best seller: No Time for Goodbye, which won Richard and Judy's Summer Read Competition. I thoroughly enjoyed reading that book, so I was automatically drawn to his latest novel: Too Close to Home.
Too Close to Home is the story of what seems on the face of it, an everyday American family. The Cutter family consists of a Mother (Ellen), a Father (Jim) and a teenage son (Derek), making a satisfied yet modest living, living in a comfortable home and generally getting on with life. This all falls apart in dramatic style very early on in the book when their neighbours (also Mother, Father and son) are all slaughtered. No spoilers here, it's on the back of the book. Questions soon arise as...

Avoid Close Brothers
Advantages: Spread monthly payments for insurance etc.
Disadvantages: If something goes wrong you'll be charged high fees for all sorts of minor things.
...I have come across Close Brothers twice where they have backed the finance on insurance and on a Home Information pack. In both cases I did not realise the front company were using a finance company till after I'd arranged the product.
I think they are pretty disgraceful. For setting up a direct debit payment plan of 10 monthly payments to pay a house insurance properties they threatened charges of £12 if the application was returned later than 14 days, £30 for a missed payment and they even said they would charge administrative charges if I called them to query anything.
Franky, for someone who avoids debt, pays of credit cards every month and was merely looking for a convenient way to spread payment of an insurance policy, I felt that I'd inadvertently come close to letting a loan shark through the door.
Immediately I...

BEHIND CLOSED DOORS - A CHILD'S NIGHTMARE
Advantages: a compelling read, but awful to read
Disadvantages: none
...I purchased this book from The Book People. I realised that it was written by Martine McCutcheon's mother so I wanted to find out more.
Behind Closed Doors is the story of child abuse. Abuse suffered by three girls at the hand of their father. Their mother does nothing to protect them, neither does anybody else.
Jenny, Kim and Laurence are the three Ponting children. The other kids taunt them with cries of "smelly ponting" and sing about them to the tune of the Adams Family theme.
The kids are dirty and malnourished. The parents do not wash them or feed them. The father does not work as he has "fits" usually brought on by a trip to the job centre. The mother can only earn money by sleeping with the men that her husband brings home to her.
The only ray of sunshine in the kids lives is that of their Auntie, who adores...

Naturally close and easy to buy.
Advantages: Great choice and ease of ordering.
Disadvantages: None yet.
...I don’t know if you are like me but I can never find the right underwear and I hate shopping so when this supplement came flying out of my magazine whilst shopping, instead of lobbing it back onto the shelf I kept it and made a mental note to read it later. I am glad I did.
Naturally close is the name of this mail-order catalogue and has a great choice of underwear from sexy-to thrill you’re your man (although I look like a baby hippo in a ballerina skirt, but the thought is there) to damn right Grundy and comfy (but my ol’e man prefers that (?)
From fashion to swimwear there is a wide range to cater for every taste.
They have all the big names to the names that aren’t so widely used but still underrated till you actually see the styles!
Starting with these ranges in order that they appear in...
