Reviews of glitter lava lamp
Another one of my boot sale bargains
Review of Lava Lamp Model TM 20-85 by
sue26
Advantages: Great to watch, very relaxing
Disadvantages: The base get very hot
...meals and such or as an aid to relaxation.
Most lava lamps don`t vary a great deal in design, although you can buy some wacky ones such as ones shaped as skulls, but mostly they are just like the one I have. Where they do differ though are the colours and designs of the bases, and the colour of the goo inside the globe, and now you can also buy ones that have glitter inside as well. The good thing about these lamps though is that you can buy the bases and the globes separately, so there no need to panic if you accidentally smash your glass part, or just become a bit bored with the base unit, and because most globes are the same width and shape at the bottom you can mix and match most variations. The base units and the globes start at around £20 each, but once you look at the fancier end of the market they can become quite pricey. Apart from...

Really BIG lava lamp.
Review of Giant Grande Lava Lamp by
drewish
Advantages: Huge. Soothing. Good value.
Disadvantages: Takes forever to heat up.
...A lava lamp is, in principle, very simple. It consists of a lamp, which heats up a glass bulb filled with a waxy solid and a liquid. These cannot mix together and must have very similar densities. As the solid heats up, its density is lowered, so it rises. This cools it down and it then falls to the bottom of the lamp, creating a strangely soothing effect. In practice, making one yourself would involve messing about with expensive and perhaps flammable chemicals, so I wouldn't bother trying. It is much easier just to buy one yourself.
The Giant Grande Lava Lamp comes in two colours yellow and blue or yellow and violet. It is truly enormous at 27" and is guaranteed to be a focal point in your room. It is not called "giant" and "grande" for nothing!
My lamp is a yellow and blue model. Although the product description says "yellow...

Lava Lamp
Review of gadgetshop.com by
Mikew79
Advantages: Relaxing good colours
Disadvantages: Only six hours at a time
...What a relaxing thing. Bought for approx £30. It's really great and comes in a variety of colours. I chose blue and green. A lava lamp is simply coloured water with blobs moving around inside! Mine took about two hours to warm up. It looks really good in the dark and glows brightly. The good points about it are it looks really soothing and comes in different colours. It never seems to repeat the same patterns. The only bad thing is that you can only keep it on for six hours at a time. It was really simple to set up all you had to do was put it together and plug it in....

Hippychicks Happy Wednesdays
Review of Top 5 Things I Do When Home Alone for the Night by
Hippychick54
Advantages: Perfectly planned.....
Disadvantages: Watch somebody spoil it!!!!
...As readers of my 'quiet night in' will remember my evenings do not always go as planned - so I have decided to sort my Wednesday evenings out!
My one night in alone - I do believe that we should all experience time with ourselves - its good stuff and you can learn to like yourself!
But back to Wednesdays......
1 - The house.... tidy and softly lit! Anybody that knows me will realise that when alone I have my lamps lit in every corner of my bungalow ...lava lamps, glitter lamps, fibre optic jobbies - I have them all - tastefully placed and emitting a soft glow to my lounge and bedroom. The bathroom, with my bath towels and white cuddly bathrobe warming near the radiator....a large vanilla candle is the only lighting I allow.
2 - Dinner... I cook myself a meal - something I like without having to make sure others like it too! I plan...

Fun Fun Fun-look at the pretty mouthwash!!!
Review of Dentyl pH Mouthwash by
DC-DanielColeflax
Advantages: fun to use, works well, efective, pretty
Disadvantages: expensive, prettynes has no point
...in this respect. The idea is that you rinse your mouth out with it, then gargle with it and spit it out. Pretty simple really.
As mentioned above the mouthwash looks pretty cool, two colours add a novelty affect, the sort of thing you could make a glitter lamp or lava lamp out of, perhaps. I do not know what the purpose of the two tonal lours are, but what the heck, they are there, and you are not supposed to use the mouthwash until you have shaken it and the two colours become one.
To me, the major setback, is the price. It costs almost £2 for a 500ml bottle, which compared to other products on the market is quite expensive, about 3 to 4 times the price of the supermarkets home brand. Amongst other brad names it is reasonably-ish priced, but still pricier than most for the amount you're getting.
All in all, it is a good mouthwash to use, and works...

A bit of a rip off
Review of The Sims: Livin' Large (PC) by
Totally_mad_4000
Advantages: Parts are funny. Good for fans of original
Disadvantages: Some are far too camp. Does not last long.
...This is a bit of a cash in really. I think that it not worth £20 because it is clear that it did not take them long to make. There is little innovation. I bought thias because I thought it would be like as good as all the other Maxis games but alas it was not. If you are real fan of the game you should get this but I don't think anyone else should. It is far to zanny and bits are funny but soem bits are not worth bothering with. I think they have watched to many Austin Power's movies and are juist trying to cash in on people need found love for Lava Lamps and bright colours....

George & Mildred
Review of ITV - George & Mildred by
johnt
Advantages: funny,well written
Disadvantages: none
...George & Mildred is one of the most fondly remembered of ITV's comedy. ITV don't make comedy as good as this anymore, mind you comedy isn't there strong point nowadays.
It starred Yootha Joyce as the housewife with aspirations and her slighlty henpecked husband Brian Murphy. He was one of lifes loosers, not much went right for him. Trying to have a quite time he muddled through life keeping his head down.
Their posh neighbours the Fourmiles looked down on them, at least the husband Jeffrey did. His character definitely summed up the stereotyped estate agent, ideas of grandeur in his own self importance. He hated having the Ropers next door to him, with their smokey motorbike, loud wallpaper and bubbling lava lamp.
Some great laughs from this, very dated now but full of fond memories....

Go Get Yer Gadgets Here
Review of The Gadget Shop (Shop) by
gailmill
Advantages: Lots of gorgeous bits and bobs, interesting items
Disadvantages: Usually very full
...My 13 year old son could spend all day in this shop! Mind you, he has
a very pragmatic mind. He's scientific, loves puzzles, machines,
contraptions and anything gadgetty.
I'm not so mad keen, however, having said that, The Gadget Shop is one
of those that you always visit when you are in town anyway. Stocking
lots of eclectic items, from clocks, 'ornaments', lamps, clockwork
stuff, alien products, lasers and all manner of bits and bobs you are
sure to find something interesting here.
Decked out in chrome and glass, the shop is very contemporary and the
products are too. We are about to move house shortly and we have
already three or four items on our shopping list from the gadget shop.
Although the stuff here is unusual, the prices are very reasonable -
£30 for a lava lamp, £20 for a neon clock for example. There are
always a lot...

Very Wet
Review of Liquid by
siany
Advantages: New, cool interior, good location
Disadvantages: Quite expensive, too small
...Liquid is one of the newer clubs in Cardiff. It is in a central location situated on St Marys Street, 5 minutes away from the central Train Station and Bus Station.
Whenever I visit Liquid there is always a huge queue to get in, proving that Liquid has gained many fans and is the premmier night club in central Cardiff.
Liquid still looks as new as when it was first built and everyone i've ever talked to about it stresses how fantastic the interior design is. Cold air blows from fans and the walls are covered in lava lamps and projected lava lamps on every wall and ceiling.
There are three main parts to the club. Before you enter the dancefloor there is a chilling out part with lots of chairs where you can buy food and get a membership card but I always find this extremely busy. There is a main dancefloor which is round...

Wiz zees Ferrero Rocher you are spoileeng us
Review of Ferrero Rocher by
kamoda
Advantages: Unusual, well packaged, delicious
Disadvantages: Little expensive
...If a Ferrero Rocher chocolate were to be likened to a household ornament, what would that ornament be?
-A lava lamp. Slightly naff, slightly embarrassing to be seen buying, slightly 'looked-good-a-few-years-back-but-should-really-be-relegated-to-a-cupboard'. Not a bad slogan, really: "Ferrero Rocher, the lava lamp of chocolates."
...Or are they? Could it just be that this image is fostered by the infamous 'ambassador' ad? You know, the one where at an elegant soiree hosted by 'the Ambassador', a silver tray of Ferrero Rocher is brought out, to various expressions of delight bordering on ecstacy (most of them, it has to be said, in "'Allo, 'Allo"-type 'foreign' accents). Could it in fact be that this ad has done the product a great disservice?
I think that this is in fact the case: that an otherwise great product has been let down...
