quite easy to find from the motorway

...We decided our road trip to the south west could not be achieved in one swallow and so we booked an evening at Gloucester's Holiday Inn. Our main reason for choosing the hotel was the ease of travel from the motorway. Four and a half hours on the road does make me crave convenience. “Spotting Old Gloucester”

old pubs, timberd buildings, the cathedral

does not feel like a city,

...th century building but behind it there's a 15 medieval wooden building that was the home of the Whittington family. The Dick Whittington was undoubtedly my favouurtie pub in Gloucester due to the atmosphere. The bar staff were friendly and welcoming to locals and visitors alike. There was a nice selection of reals ales with at least a couple of local ones. I can heartily recommend Cotswold Way...
