However, if I missed both showing of that episode on U.K. Gold, I can be rest assured that I will get to see it repeated that same day on U.K. Gold 2 later in the evening. U.K. Gold 2 offers us - The Bill, Neighbours, EastEnders, Knotts Landing as well as the Brittas Empire and Dads Army. ...I recently got married. This demanded the purchase of gold rings which is really the first time that I have ever purchased gold in any shape or form. Being a complete novice in this area, I didn't fully understand the carat system ie 9K, 14K, 18K etc. I recognised that that the higher the number the purer the gold but I had no idea what that equated to. In my ignorance I went ahead and purchased 2 rings for me and my wife. They were 9K gold. She was eager to get 18K gold but I couldn't understand why. I thought she was being extravagant and unnecessary about it all. Anyway, we purchased the rings and it wasn't long before I developed an allergy to the gold ring. I queried this with a number of shopkeepers but was surprised to be asked if I was allergic to gold. Gold is actually an inert element and very rarily causes allergies... Read review

...When I went to Dubai I was very fortunate to have stayed in a hotel that was just a 5 minute walk for the Gold Souk. With the intention of maybe buying one piece of gold jewellery I actually ended up buying a whole lot more! GOLD SOUK EXPERIENCE The thing about the Gold Souk is that there are lines and lines of gold shops, the gold in the showcases resembles a candy shop window, from bangles to necklaces the choice is endless. Designs can be traditional or modern, bold or conservative, chunky or delicate if you have it in mind then its definitely on display. You can even have the type of design you may be looking for made if you are staying for a longer period, although the jewellers do aim to get you your piece of jewellery before you return back home. ...After the Sports Channels, UK Gold is my favourite Satellite channel. From the name you would expect a lot of old repeats which would not be a hit again on terrestrial TV. However, although this is the case for some shows, many programmes on UK Gold are also shown as repeats on terrestrial TV. The following programmes show the quality and variety of UK Gold:- >DRAMAS includes BBC hit DANGERFIELD and HOLBY CITY. >STAND UP COMEDY from BEN ELTON. >FILMS like THAT RIVIERA TOUCH (I have never seen it but I am sure that it is good!) >SOAPS include re-runs of EASTENDERS and NEIGHBOURS. >The strength of UK gold is the number of good SITCOMS. These include ONLY FOOLS AND HORSES, ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS and more recently MY HERO. If this variety of programmes can not make a good television channel then I don't know what will.... Read review

...The Olympics are going to be held in Beijing for the first time in the history of the event. There have been quite a few protests taken place because of the human rights violation record of China but once the games begin all eyes would be focused on the athletes. Their performance would be what counts. There are a few countries that would be vying for the total medal counts. This would include the US, Russia and China, the host nation. To try and figure out who would end up with the most medals, I am just going to got back and look at the record for the number of medals counts for the favourite countries to lead the medal count. The last three Olympics were held in Athens, Greece (2004), Sidney, Australia (2000) and Altanta, USA (1996). ...I have been a UK gold fan since its beginning, but I am slightly dissappointed at the change of focus over the past few years: although they have (at least in theory) the entire back catalogue of the BBC & Thames TV (Carlton's London franchise predecessor) to chose from, they seem now to lean heavily into repeating sit-coms again and again. Nonetheless, there are still a few gems, and the Bill being my only concession to soap addiction, is a welcome daily fixture (but only if there is nowt better on!).... Read review

...Since i first got digital Tv i've been hooked to this fantastic channel, the channel combines comedy and drama to make it most entertaining. I'm not really into drama shows but uk Gold gives a huge helping of comedy, from about 5 onwards you can see such shows as 'Allo 'Allo, Red Dwarf, Blackadder, Only Fools an Horses and many more, it submits shows from different eras, and the good thing is if you miss a show on BBC TV, you're sure to find it on UK Gold sometime. ...Uk Gold (or you could call it BBC 3) is a channel on satellite and cable which shows repeats of classic BBC series including Eastenders, Jonathan Creek, Thin Blue Line, Blackadder, Porridge, Red Dwarf and many other classics. UK Gold is the most watched channel (after the main Sky channels) on satellite and cable and it is easy to see why, some of these shows are still repeated on the two main BBC channels and still attract huge audiences. When shows are this good this channel will always be guaranteed an audience.... Read review
