...I love this country. not only because i was born there but mainly because it is what the bible says it is : Paradise. for me being in london right now indoors (raining again) is like putting a lion in a box just a bit bigger then the lion and expect it to be happy. i am that lion and i miss lots of things in israel but i'll only share one trip i have done (a track) with some family members about two years ago (just before coming to london). well, i have been in the israeli army for 3 years and learned a lot from it and one of the things i took with me from being there is the love for survival skills, navigation, and the ability to be in the wierdest situations and come out alive. and so one of my biggest hobbys became nature trips (with not too much aquipment and lots of skills). this time we went to the south of israel, to the dead sea...

Atlantica Golden Beach Hotel - Golden all the way

Advantages: All inclusive with great food, no kids, great staff
Disadvantages: None

...We wanted to have a break away just the two of us without our kids and knew we wanted an all inclusive break. After much deliberation we decided to try the Atlantica Golden Beach and were not disappointed. This is a Thomson Gold Hotel and we received Gold service from the minute we booked. Everyone was so friendly. When we arrived into Paphos airport we were quickly shown to our bus and because it is a Gold hotel you are dropped off first. The Manager and staff were there to greet us with drinks and a short information session about where restaurants, bars, facilities were. We had upgraded our room to a Double Superior and this meant that we were guaranteed a sea view along with a bottle of wine, fruit, bathrobes, slippers, television, cd player and canopy over our large double bed. Atlantica Golden Beach ,Pathos, Cyprus

Advantages: No children under 16 allowed, a great place for adults only
Disadvantages: Not much to do in the local area

...My wife and I decided that we neaded a holiday. We wend down to the local Thomson Agent and after a couple of hours deciding where to go, we decided to visit Cyprus. We have never been to Cyprus before so it was a new venture for us. Thomson offered us a "last minute deal" where the hotel was aloceted on arrival. After the four and half hour flight to Pathos from Gatwick, we were told that we would be staying at the Atlantica Godern Beach Hotel. The hotel wasabout a twenty minute ride from the airport, which after a long hot journey, was welcome. On arrival, our bags were immediately taken to our rooms. The manager rushed us up into a room upstairs and to our surprise, a welcome party of sandwiches, cakes, tea and coffee awaited us. Outspan in Israel

Advantages: relaxing, friendly, clean, lots to do
Disadvantages: long flight, guns in view, airport politics

...We went to Eilat for our honeymoon in March 2006. I was 7 months pregnant at the time so knew I would be limited to do all activities, but this wouldn't stop my husband. I found booking the holiday hard as their are only a few operators that go to Israel, but it is getting easier to find them. I went through a travel agent to get some brouchers for pictures and ideas, and looked through the internet for more information. We eventually booked through a specialist Israel operator, and they were extreamely helpful. As we live in the East Midlands we had to travel to Luton to get a very early morning flight, as again, not that many airports fly to Israel yet. But it is getting more popular. A Real Peach of a Beach!!

Advantages: A beautiful clean beach with something for everyone!
Disadvantages: It's so far away!!

The taxis were very cheap, probably just a cheap as the bus and most of them were estate cars so you were able to put all you towels, inflatables etc in the back of the car and the taxi drivers were always more than willing to take you just so long as you weren?t dripping wet and most preferred you to have a top on. If you have hired a car for your holiday then there is also a large car park situated at one end of the beach. As you walk or indeed drive down the hill to the beach the view is stunning, beautiful golden sands with clear blue waters. The Golden Compass

Disadvantages: Boring shallow characters

...souls are called daemons and these walk beside them in the form of animals. Children's daemons can shape shift till they find their true form adults cannot. The gobblers are an unknown entity (the film's bad guys) that are kidnapping children, for what reason we don't know why until later in the film. Lyra's friend Roger gets taken by these which lead Lyra on a quest to find him she is given the golden compass to help her . The other thing I found weird about this film is that the girl Lyra is supposed to be the chosen one but not much is really said about this so it seems to make no impact on you as an audience. One of the villains - Nicole Kidman Mrs Coulter is an evil woman whom we find out is Lyra's mother , usually I am a fan of Kidman ,however I personally found her performance weak and character shallow in this film. With the help of a golden compass only a select few are able to read to guide her on her way Lyra sets off on the adventure of a life time. . Acting/Characters ************* Dakota Blue Richards - Lyra As you watch Dakota on screen, you forget she was only 12 years old at the time of filming, and you certainly see no signs of this being her very first acting job. She commands the viewer's attention with her performance and she challenges us to feel her struggles and triumphs as she experiences them. It is a testament to her talent that, when sharing camera time with the likes of Sam Elliot or in fact Nicole Kidman, she steals the focus.
