Great golf clubs at a great price!

...I have recently taken up the sport of golf, but whenever I have played be it at the driving range of the local 9 hole course I have always borrowed a friends clubs. The more I have played the more I have enjoyed the game so recently decided to purchase my first set of golf clubs. I was always given the impression that clubs were expensive, but when trawling through numerous internet sports equipment sites soon realised this was a bit of a myth. I had pinpointed 3 sets of clubs that I was considering purchasing all of which were between £55 and £100 - very cheap I thought. Advantages: Challenging but accessible course for mid handicappers
Disadvantages: Not hard enough for better players and not the best course in the area

...Niddry Castle Golf Club is a 9 hole course at Castle Road, Winchburgh, West Lothian, which is approximately 10 miles from the centre of Edinburgh and 45 miles from Glasgow. It is a parkland course playing around Niddry Castle with an 18 Hole length of 5518yds (Par 70)(4612yds Par 68 Ladies). It is fairly tight in places with water coming into play on 5 of the 9 holes. Another 9 holes are currently being built with a completion date of Spring 2003. Niddry Castle itself dates from 1490 and it is known that Mary Queen of Scots sought refuge there in 1568. It is not an attractive building but it has recently been restored as a private residence and is not open to the public. Disadvantages: Narrow tree-lined fairways, Irons must be accurate

...Boat of Garten truely is one of Scotlands hidden gems, and without doubt deserves to be recognised as the finest Highlands course. Starting out, the golfer is not too enthralled by the first hole, which is an unremarkable par-3. But from the second hole onwards, one becomes aware of the majesty of 'The Boat'. The second has a lovely meandering fairway leading to a wide green, and a drive to the left handside of the fairway offers the best chance of getting the ball close. The third hole is a tricky par-3 with danger both short and long. Under club and you will be hacking out of heavy gorse, over club and you will be down near the tracks of the delightful steam train that runs alongside the first 4 holes. I found it well thought out and certainly very different from what I was expecting. It was a good mystery that leads the reader down an avenue you would not expect, certainly when you read the summary of it. The wee lass was in tow, not to play herself, (the course was just a tad too difficult for her) but to drive the ride-on buggy that her old dad had booked to conserve his energy in the roasting temperatures you can get in Rome at this time of year. This was another reason for the early start. At 7.30AM the temperature was a very pleasant 25 degrees centigrade, although it rose to a stifling 40 degrees by the time we finished the round!
