...I'm not big on religion, in fact you could go as far as to say that, as far as religious stories go, I don't know my Curé of Ars from my murder of Abel ..... (you'll have to think a bit about that one but I'll wait, I'm not going anywhere.) Anyway, Someone who was big in the bible was GOLIATH (not that it did him much good), and I guess that's where Wychwood got the idea for naming this beer. God knows (he/she/it is omniscient, remember?), the bottle's big enough. Not wishing to risk retribution (you never know) I'll gently veer off this mildly blasphemous track and ease us into the beer review......... Review of Wychwood Goliath

Goliath is a big hooking ball

Advantages: Hook potential, colour, price
Disadvantages: Discontinued

...The Brunswick BVP Goliath is part of their 'Value Performance' range of bowling balls together with BVP wizard, BVP Ambush, BVP rampage and the BVP punisher. The BVP is now a discontinued bowling ball replaced by the BVP Mammoth. The BVP range of bowling balls are supposed to give high end performance at value prices which they seem to do very well. The BVP Goliath has a high-load particle cover-stock (400 grit sanded) which up until the mammoth was the highest hook potential ball in Brunswick's history with a hook potential rating of 160. The two piece core of the goliath is a inverted bell core which gives a medium RG of 2.590. This gives a ball that hooks through the oil. The ball comes in a deep purple colour which is almost black which I think looks good. It isn't noticeably purple which is what I was after cause I'm not too...

It's a "true" story

...I really enjoyed this one! Especially as it?s a ?true? story (I?m a sucker for these). I thought Julia Roberts played her character really well ? the right amount of feistiness and determination. It smacked of a John Grisham book and I wondered whether he had had anything to do with it ? apparently not. If you like a good ?small town lawyer beats large bent corporation and the little people benefit? story, then this one is for you. It?s funny too. The characters are well played, all quite 3D and fleshed out. The acting is great and it's a wonderful triumph over adversity and David and Goliath story, really entertaining....

...Made in 1988, The Beast is a war film set in 1981 during the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, following the crew of a Soviet T-62 tank that gets seperated from its unit and ends up in a barren desert valley, pursued by a group of mujahadeen warriors who are out for revenge after the tank unit mercilessly slaughtered the inhabitants of their tiny village. Indeed, the film opens with the attack on the settlement, in which one prominent village leader is mercilessly crushed under the wheels of the T-62 at the behest of its unhinged commander, Daskal. The film is part anti-war film, part psychological thriller, the focus being split between Taj- the new Khan after his father and brother were brutally murdered- and his men on the one hand as they pursue the tank in the hopes of destroying it with a lone RPG, David and Goliath style...
