The original music by David Buckley is replete with dark arrangements that are meant to set our nerves on edge. He favours dark strings and ticking percussion, minor key piano and eerie synthesizers, burring strings and brass. But the music suggests a level of suspense that is otherwise absent from the movie and I doubt it is sufficiently original to listen to out of context of the film. ?Gone? is a slow-moving, suspense-free stab at a thriller that suffers from myriad plot holes and lacklustre direction. GONE BABY GONE

Advantages: deals with important issues, good plot
Disadvantages: disliked ending

...Gone Baby Gone is directed by Ben Affleck and brother Casey Affleck stars with partner played by Angie Gennaro. Being that it was the first film he has directed he did a great job. This film centers around a missing child case. After being confronted for help, Cassey Affeck and Angie Gennaro are hired as private detectives alongside FBI/police to help find her. This film deals with important issues and leaves you pondering over what could have been. The mother of the missing child has a drug problem and did not give her child much thought until she was gone. I thought it added to film when it focused on the town and the people in it briefly. Better Off Gone?

Advantages: Dark & mysterious, yet emotive and quite touching, original and strong cast
Disadvantages: Not always very lively, can be a bit slow in parts

...Gone Baby Gone was released in 2007, and I remember wanting to see it at the cinema; because I didn't get the chance, I looked forward to catching it on DVD and it was worth the watch. Directed by Ben Affleck, this film was actually made by Walt Disney strangely enough. Based on the novel by Dennis Lehance, Gone Baby Gone is about the disappearance of a girl in South Boston. In searching for her, we're taken through the backstreets and dark truth of the working-class Dorchester area, casting a dark shadow over the 109-minute long film. Patrick Kenzie, a private eye asked to investigate the case is obviously in turmoil and fights until the end to solve the case and reunite the missing girl with her mother, though all it not as it seems.
