Goodmans
Advantages: Lots of Features
Disadvantages: None
...This is a good quality product that offers good value for money in the very short term. Although as with most products of this type, the value will deteriorate over time and should be able to get a cheaper version next year. It's a great device with plenty of features that I would highly recommend. This really is a wonderful piece of kit that should go well with many accessories because it really looks good. After using this product for a few months I have not so far come up against any reliability issues but only time will tell.
Main Features:
Stereo speakers.
Programmable CD player.
Battery or mains powered - includes mains adapter. (batteries not included)
CD-R/RW Playback
Preset equalizer.
Headphone socket.
Remote control requires 2 x AAA batteries
Single Cassette Player
Digital Audio Broadcast (DAB)
Digital Tuner...

Goodmans CDMP352 CD player
Advantages: good sound quality
Disadvantages: poor anti-shock, bass system muffling
...The Goodmans CDMP352 CD player is an attractive-looking CD walkman which provides ease of use and the ability to play MP3s which these days is always helpful. The sound quality is generally very good, however I was a bit concerned at the mega-bass feature which when turned on, seems to have the effect of "clouding" the treble frequency and causing a certain amount of distortion with some music which is already bass-heavy.
Probably the most annoying issue with the device is the failure of the anti-shock to work properly. Like many people I have the CD walkman with me when I go jogging, and it can be quite annoying when the music plays in fits and starts even when held as securely as practically possible.
All in all I probably wouldn't recommend this to potential buyers. It does play mp3 files, but then again I hope to be getting...

Wow Good...man!
Advantages: Compact, light, plays home-made disks
Disadvantages: If using battery-power, not long-lasting.
...In my home I have my main stereo downstairs. The trouble is, I often like listening to music at night before I go to bed. I did have a (really old) personal cd player, but I was sick of replacing the batteries. I went into Argos and spotted the Goodmans GPS222 on display, so I bought one.
~Design~
The Goodmans GPS222 is 13 inches long, 9 inches deep (at it's widest) and 6 inches tall. It weighs around 4lbs - not very heavy - but it might feel quite weighty if you were carrying it around for a while. As you can see from the picture the Goodmans GPS222 is quite modern looking and I was pleased with the design of it. The buttons are laid out symetrically on the top of the player, which makes everything easy to find, and makes it look nice too.
What you can't see very well from the picture is that the panel on the front, over...

Goodmans gracious me!! (UPDATE -PANTS!!)
Advantages: Good price, attractive system, good sound
Disadvantages: Doesn't last 12 months!
...We treated our youngest to a new CD/radio for her birthday. Her old Sanyo one had broken ? the CD just died after 13 months! So we had a good look around and not wanting to spend a fortune we went for the Goodmans 1002 micro system from Argos. It cost us £64.99, not a bad price I feel. Now available for £59.99!!
The unit its-self is very attractive, being primarily silver in colour. The main unit is 16cm x 17cm and 26cm deep with the speakers 22cm x 14cm x 19cm. The speakers are a pale wood colour with silver covers for the front, which can be removed if you wish and are both 12.5w. It now sits quite unobtrusively at the back of her little desk and seems to take up very little space. This micro system, however, is only a CD/radio, IT DOES NOT HAVE A TAPE DECK. We took the decision that really cassettes are a bit old hat now...

Good value from Goodmans
Advantages: Good value - long playback time
Disadvantages: Perhaps lacking some of the features of more expensive models
...I got this CD player mainly for playing on long boring coach journeys but it has proved useful at home too. There was one that was £10 cheaper (also Goodmans) but what attracted me to this was that unlike the cheaper one, it had 20hrs playback time. I figured the extra that I spent on the CD player, I'd more than make up for it in buying less batteries. The player also came with a AC adaptor, 10sec anti-shock, bass boost and a facility for recharging rechargable batteries. It's also pretty nice looking - blue & silver. You can also buy a car kit to convert it for use in the car. There are players with alot more features but this has proved very good value for money, especially as I already have a mini system at home....

Good quality, good value, Goodmans
Advantages: Cheap and complete. Everything in one box
Disadvantages: Not as good as sytems twice as much
...them, and being the bunch of hoarders that my family is I soon had a bedroom full of bits, old record players and a rather super (super?) gramophone the size of a sideboard. I stripped out the guts, built some new speaker cabs (using the doors off my wardrobe, I under estimated how angry my mum could get) and a ?receiver? (using an old valve amp and tuner, rewired into a new case) which sounded great. I rigged up a multi input interface (switch) to play other things through the system, like the tape deck I wanted for Christmas. I was however stuck with a crappy record deck until my cousin turned up with his old Goodman?s. This was brilliant, it had a moving magnet cartridge made by ?Audio Technica? ( I had to build a pre-amp, remember those), a light alloy arm, no auto changer, too high quality for that, I was chuffed (my god! I do sound...

Goodmans, Good Luck!!!!
Advantages: Good memory
Disadvantages: scrolling display makes a clicking noise during music
...I was reluctant to buy the I-Pod because it keeps changing so much so I decided to go for the cheaper option which is the Goodman GMP38G6. It's got really good quality sound and the headphones are very comfortable. The menus are very difficult to navigate and Goodman's should work on this. One glitch I noticed is that when you're listening to music you can hear the screen display scrolling the artist and song name. It makes a very faint clicking noise as it scrolls. I phoned the helpline which is detailed on the back of the device but they weren't any help at all.
It's definitely no-where near the quality of the I-Pod but is better than most mp3 and mp4 players. You can record voice but you can't easily use it to store other types of files like photos or MS office files but with some effort it is possible. You get a mini CD with it that...

Fairly Goodman
Advantages: More tracks than a 64mb mp3 player and cheaper!
Disadvantages: Small buttons, plastic feel, not much more than functional.
...I'd heard that mp3 cd players were being developed a while back and thought what a good idea that would be - 200-300 songs (700mb) on a cd. I also expected them to be very expensive, but when i saw some online i was suprised to see them starting at only £50, which is just a little more than you'd expect to pay for a cd player with similar functions and without the mp3 capabilities. This price however is for the low end, basic players, which is what the CDMP 352 is...
When i went to buy a cd mp3 player i was looking to pay as little as possible for something decent that would do the job. In this category there were very few players. At the £50 mark there is this player and a Hewlett Packard. Above these, from £60 upwards the players obviously start improving, with the better players coming in at around the £100 mark. These ones often...

How the hell do I play an MP3 CD ...
Advantages: Range of features, reads CD-RW audio CDs, anti-shock, built-in battery charger
Disadvantages: Tricky to set up an MP3 CD to work with it, no backlight to the display, unresponsive buttons
...This Goodmans unit comes in a casing that's just a little bigger than my hand. It has several controls spattered around it, with most of them on the top lid, surrounding a text display (not backlit).
The unit comes complete with a set of in-the ear headphones with in-line volume control, and a power supply unit.
The buttons on the top cover a variety of functions and uses, some dependent on whether you're playing an MP3 or audio CD. The standard features include track skipping, play/pause, stop, play mode (e.g. Random), resume and programming (manually setting up your favourite tracks). For MP3 CDs, the buttons also allow you to type in the name of the track you want to search for, to clear the display and so forth.
On the front of the silver, blue and black case is the latch for the lid, which flips up to reveal the CD spindle...

Still going strong
Advantages: excellent quality product
Disadvantages: none
..., dubbing speed (if you’re pinky & perky fans), function selector for CD/Tape/Tuner options, speaker balance knob, volume knob and 5 amplifier settings to adjust and set as you wish
Cassette Deck
As exciting as decks go this one has the usual features of a double cassette deck. Deck 1 on the left for recording/playing and Deck 2 for simple playing
Although now nearly 9 years old this system is still going strong and will continue to play my favourite dance tracks to it’s full capacity until it should breakdown and be retired. I’m not sure if this system is still in circulation being that technology moves so fast but I would definitely recommend anything made by Goodmans as it’s not once broken down and the only part I’ve had to replace are the batteries in the remote control....
