Secrets of the Gower Peninsula.

Advantages: Stunning views, pristine and clean beaches, never too busy.
Disadvantages: The Gower is a fair way from most other places

...I lived in Swansea for three years between 1999-2002 while I was an undergraduate student. Clearly it wasn't all work and alot of my 'play' time was spent exploring the Gower Peninsula. A stunning and relatively unknown little gem tucked away in South Wales, The Gower was the first place in Britain to be designated as an 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty' in 1949 and it truly lives up to this honour. Getting there and Away. ************************** You can get to the Gower in between 20 minutes and a hour from Swansea, if you're driving, depending on which bit you want to go to. Buses also run but these are sporadic and unreliable. You'd really be much better off in a car. The roads are good, although they are generally single track and wind back and forth which can make for slow progress should you get stuck behind...

Gower Holiday Village

Advantages: Wonderful beaches, and countryside and great food.
Disadvantages: Some beaches are inaccessable to some people due to steep climbs down, and back up cliffs.

...I have to disagree with Walshies comment and agree with LJJames. There are many bungalows on the Gower Holiday village, about 70 I think. I believe you can book directly with the holiday village, which may well be what Walshies did, to get his poor accomodation, but there are many bungalows that are privately owned, one of which we booked. See www.number62.co.uk. No. 62 was very comfortable indeed. The beds are the best I have every slept in away from home, like marshmellows! The crockery and pots and pans were the quality in any normal home, and not junk bought from a thrift shop. The whole ambiance was modern, clean, functional and welcoming, and it truly was a pleasure to stay there. Jules (the owner) has dogs and very much welcomes dogs (there are thows on sofa's and dog bowls and stone and wooden floors...

Street Lurvin'

Advantages: Lots of big tunes
Disadvantages: A couple of tunes lack energy

...The Atlanta R&B singer Lloyd (Polite) released his second album in 2007. The record, ?Street Love? featured some of his most well-known tracks, and although he broke through with his debut, this is the album which had him really come up with some of his highest-quality work. 1. ?Lloyd? (Intro) 2. ?You? Samplign Spandau Ballet?s ?True?, this one finds the artist doing a banger of a collaboration with Lil? Wayne, in the time when Weezy started off his streak of featured tracks designed as a build-up to his ?Tha Carter III? album. It gets this thing underway well and shows off his incredible vocals form the get-go. **Five Stars** 3. ?Certified? It is Jazzy Pha who is seen to behind this one, and it appears that he really knows what to do (based upon his Crunk & B work with other Atlanta R&B singers, and so in order to bring in that...

The word on the Street

Advantages: Triumph name, price, looks, handling, engine etc etc
Disadvantages: No fairing so lack of weather protection

...Bit of background: ------------------------- I already own a Triumph Daytona 995i, which I am happy with. Time will come some day when I may have to change it, or simply buy another bike for regular running. After the news that my local Triumph dealer is closing their franchise, I decided to look for the next nearest one. This led me to Team Roberts Triumph in Conisbrough (near Doncaster). Test ride Sir? ------------------ Arrived at the shop with just the intention of having a look round, really to see where it was and what it was like. Got chatting to the owner and after casual conversation the question came up: "Have you got your licence with you?" "Yes why?" "Can take that out for a blast if you like" -pointing to the gleaming black Street Triple, which was looking at me through the window. "Errrmmm no.. No its...

Street Survivors for the music

Advantages: Great material. That Smell
Disadvantages: Deaths three days later

...I doubt Few album releases in History have ever been like the release for Lynyrd Skynyrd's fifth album Street Survivors. The reason is just three days after the release the band were involved in a Plane crash that killed the following Ronnie Van Zant, New guitarist Steve Gaines and his sister Cassie Gaines as well as the pilot, co pilot and the bands assistant road manager. Guitarist Gary Rossington's injuries were so severe that he had steel rods fitted in his right arm and leg. He suffered broken bones to both arms, both legs, both wrists, both ankles and his pelvis, **Street Survivors** The original cover you see with the review was replaced out of respect for the deceased members of the band due to the flames around the band in the picture. This album was the first and only Lynyrd Skynyrd album that Steve Gaines featured on after...

An Introduction to Coronation Street

Advantages: Good drama even though classed as a Soap
Disadvantages: can get boring some times

...Like many others of my age, we have been brought up on Coronation Street. In the 60s Granada TV was given a license to operate and it would depict the people of the North West. Tony Warren wrote the script and submitted it and it was to be called Florizel Street. However as this was a well know name of disinfectant it was changed to Coronation Street. (Actually the set is in Granada Studios in Quay Street, Manchester) Now Coronation Street lies between Rosamund Street and Victoria Street and is no longer than a mere 150 yards with only a handful of properties in the Street. Here I will give you a quick introduction to who lives were and at what number, then I will go into the current plot, but be aware that this could be out of date very quickly as it is a fast acting soap. The Rovers Return - The hub of the soap, I have...

Streets ahead

Advantages: Wonderful, thought-provoking and gripping
Disadvantages: None

...I had a horrific day today. In work, one of my customers said he hoped I died - and quickly. The cash machine swallowed my card. So... made penniless and sentenced to death - just an average day really. Still, I can withdraw money tomorrow, and I doubt Mr. Atzel will be able to track me down and murder me, so all's well that ends well. Sometimes, there is a happy ending. Which brings me on to 'The Street', written by the legendary Jimmy McGovern, where there is generally a happy ending in each episode. How well do you know your neighbours? I like to think I know mine fairly well. Bill and Vera on one side, who I got pissed with my home-made Bailey's cheesecake; Derek on the other, a writer who tells me to turn my music down if I throw a party. But I don't know what goes on inside their houses - do I really want to? Yes, if its...

Green Street [Hooligans]

Advantages: Violence
Disadvantages: Elijah Wood, Bad Cockney Accents, Ridiculously Unrealist

...Hot on the heels of The Football Factory  comes another attempt at understanding the British thug sub-culture. This time (in an obvious attempt to increase American awareness) Elijah Wood is cast at the centre of it all, playing a Harvard journalism student turned hard-edged football hooligan. Sound ridiculous? It pretty much is. Green Street is not a hugely terrible film, but it is difficult one to take seriously. Matt Buckman (Wood) is wrongfully expelled from College, and jumps abroad a plane to London to visit his sister (Claire Forlani) and husband Steve (Marc Warren). Soon Matt starts hitting the local pubs and going to "Soccer" games with Steve's bad boy brother Pete (Charlie Hunnam), and becomes involved with the GSE firm (a supposed imitation of West Ham's notorious Inter-City Firm). As an actor, it is understandable by...
