...this blaupunkt car radio has an excellent radio front end at both FM & (mostly) AM! Its ability to receive AM (MW) radio broadcasts with the usual very short FM whip antennas that are commonly found at newer cars, is a real plus! And the sound on AM isn't bad at all. It does have a good AM IF bandwidth filter probably, that allow you to listen good sounded AM stations, with a quality (at least an AM quality that most newer radios doesn't provide for the forgotten ? MW band), while keeping the selectivity needed for first adjacent channel intereference out. A better noise blanker filter, or a faster AGC wil help a little at city terrains where the manmade static noises are higher! For FM the sound is good (take in account the overcompressed FM modulated signals that most stations have now) and its sensitivity is good enough to get...

In a couple of seconds it was displaying "Ready to Navigate" Since then, about 10 days ago, I have covered over 2,000 miles and have not lost reception once, including the wooded section of the A350 just north of Shaftesbury in Dorset, where I always lost signal for about 2 miles. I have noticed some of the plating wearing off the plug, exposing bare plastic. This is because It is not a good idea to leave the SAT NAV in the car when parked, so I have to take the cable out if I park somewhere dodgy, like city centres. Excellent GPS package at great price

...When I decided too buy this product, I wasn't specifically looking for a handheld computer, I was after a decent (but inexpensive) GPS satellite navigation system; and the Acer n35 is not only the cheapest GPS-equipped handheld, it's actually cheaper than most dedicated sat-nav systems, so the fact that this device functions as a computer with numerous other facilities is a pure bonus! You can easily pay £400 for a dedicated portable sat-nav system like the Tom Tom Go, and similar amounts for sat-nav equipped handhelds, but the Acer can be had for as little as £240 brand new with full guarantee. You see already the main economic advantage, especially when you compare it to the four-figure sums that car manufacturers charge for built-in sat-nav systems.... The Acer n35 is basically the n30 without BlueTooth capability...

To try this system out, over a period of three weeks, and a total of about 600 miles, entirely within my home county of West Yorkshire, i ran the TravelPilot alongside my own local knowledge of the area built up over 17 years of driving around the area. To enter a destination it is necessary to go through a menu and a series of entries not wholly unlike entering a text message on a mobile phone. There is a form of predictive texting, which can be quite useful. The problem I found, though, was that before I could find the way to, say, Huddersfield Police Station I needed to know what road it is in.
