Navman ST raight through

...Having recently purchased my Navman PiN 570 and having used it for a few months I discovered that some streets were missing from the mapping software. A quick visit to Navman's website soon remedied this problem. I simply followed the easy instructions to update my Navman ST software to the 2005 version. After a few clicks and a few minutes the software was installed on my PC. After running for the first time I was asked to complete some simple questions and to connect my Navman PiN to the PC. Once this had been accomplished it was just a case of re-entering my original software serial number to verify my details which I had previously registered with Navman. ...I dont have a 20 channel receiver however I do have a 12 channel receiver which came in the box with my Tom Tom Navigator 5 for PDA, whichi I use in my Treo 680 Smart Phone. The whole thing works perfectly and I couldn't ask for more as Sat Nav goes. The GPS receiver looks identical to the 20 channel one shown here and if this one works as well as mine does then you can't go wrong. It has a matt cover which makes it stay put where ever you place it on the dashboard and in use I've found that it picks up a signal very quickly and once linked to the PDA by bluetooth it keeps the signal so long as it can see just a tiny bit of sky. Once linked I take the unit off the dash and place it on the floor of the car in between the seats and it keeps the signal through motorway tunnels and even during a traffice halt under a bridge! ...and I have never had any problems in receiving a GPS signal both on foot, in the car and at home. ON activating the GPS signal is attained within 30-40 secs and if you ever lose the signal is regained very quickly giving very little interruption to its operation. I have had no problem in setting up both TOMTOM and Navman software with both of them easily recognising the receiver. The power usage is very low for this product and I have seen less than a 10 % reduction in the running time for my IPAQ PDA when using the receiver which is very impressive. ...The Navman 530 is the successor to the ICN 520 Sat Nav that I own. Buying this was a present for my parents that I landed up keeping myself and buying another for them. Originally I was looking for a simple yet quality packed Sat Nav. As per its predecessor, the 530 is a simple Sat Nav to use and not one of the many PDA's with a Sat Nav function. Navman have been making Marine navigation for a long time and have used the advances they made for sea navigation to make this a great in car solution. Mapping is provided by Tele Atlas and are regularly kept up to date with a website where an anomaly can be report by users and corrected for future releases.
