Advantages: Light, thinner and faster than the old PSP, with some nifty features. Disadvantages: No infrared, battery life lower than usual PSP's.
...The PSP Slim is a smaller and slimmer version of the original, hence the name. Now with a third less weight, at 189g and about four-fifths the thickness (19mm). It costs around the same as the old one, £130.
The new weight is immediately noticeable as soon as you hold the PSP in your hand. It's so light that you might think that it's missing something. Sony was able to slim down the battery size while maintaining the 5hr standard PSP time.
The speakers have gone on the front, the wifi switch is now on the top to stop turning WLAN off and the UMD drive is spring loaded.
The display remains the same, but the slim includes a video output that will let the PSP connect to a TV.
Sony has doubled the built-in memory RAM from 32MB to 64MB, and the new PSP will also be able to speed up game load times with extra memory. The PSP slim...
Advantages: Clear screen, lots of features, easy to use and a large range of games and movies. Disadvantages: Can't be used with strong light and quite easy to damage/scratch
...The Sony PSP is a gaming device made for on the go gamers. There is a very wide range of games you can play on the PSP, and these mainly consist of previous PlayStation 2 games such as Grand Theft Auto Vice City and other classic games. The PSP is set out like a PlayStation controller but with a 4.3 inch screen in the middle. The console itself is a great size and does not weight very much. The screen also is very good - it delivers a clear picture and depending on the game, not bad graphics. The games are stored on a UMD disk which stands for Universal Media Disks which consist of 1.8GB. As well as buying games on the UMD disks, you can also buy popular films such as Spiderman and watch them on the go.
Not only is the PSP a great gaming and video playback device, but it can also be used as an MP3 player, a photo viewer and an internet...
Advantages: The look. The portability. The games. The films. The accessories. Pretty much the whole package. Disadvantages: Not out in the UK yet!!!! Battery life. Loading times
...OK OK OK. How can I review a product that hasn't been released in the UK? I bought it in Japan, I'm lucky - I know. Lots of people want the Sony PSP.
I can see why!
There is SO MUCH you can do with the Sony PSP - it's quite unbelievable. My unit is in Japanese - but I'm fortunate to be able to read and understand Japanese - so I can provide an accurate review.
The Sony PSP is undoubtedly one of 2005's most anticipated gadgets. Why? What can it do? What is it?
It's a slick looking, portable device, tha is a BRILLIANT games machine, and is also a music player, and a UMD (more on UMD later) player. It also has Wi-Fi for playing games against other PSP owners (thrilling - playing multiplayer games is one of the great joys of playing video games - what can be more fun than sitting in a sushi bar at 1am playing Ridge Racer...

...When i bought a sony play station portable (psp) i felt it was one of the best choices i have ever made. I say this because the play station portable is a technological masterpeice.
When i recived my play station portable in the post i wasn't sure whether or not it would satisfy expetation, but IT BLEW ME AWAY with all the games, movies, music, photos and INTERNET. At first i just played on the games completing them as normal but then internet came into the equation and gaming as i knew it changed forever. Ad hoc mode (local gaming) this means that you can connect with friends from a close range, on most games you get more game modes in Ad hoc mode. Then there is the new mother of gaming Infrastructure mode which allows you to play with whoever you want to around the globe.

Advantages: Great shape, Easy to use, Good Functions Disadvantages: Faults with the system
...The PSP was brought as a birthday present, I?m not an Avid gamer and didn?t really intend to become one, So it was without much enthusiasm I opened the box.
I was soon gripped though on playing with the buttons and the games that came with it, Pretty soon the PSP never left my hands, I found it easy to use and all the functions were simple, even for someone as simple as me. The battery life on my PSP was fantastic and it kept me entertained for many hours on long journeys, I found the DVD Quality to be good although the DVDs themselves can be slightly pricey. I owned the PSP For 2 weeks before I found any problems with it, I was in the middle of a standard game, and it stopped working, It came up with an error saying the Disc could not be read. Nothing worked to fix it, It hadn?t been dropped or anything - I was mighty disappointed...
Advantages: Technologically, the PSP has always been ahead of the pack, and the 3000 just takes it further. I Disadvantages: Where are the games? Looking at Sony's PSP website, there are only 5 games scheduled for 2009 - an
...I love my PSP, but I'm still playing games I bought 2 or 3 years ago for my original PSP-1000. For a new user, especially, the lack of new games is enough to make anyone worry about investing in one.
The 4.3-inch LCD wide screen remains, and it's been tweaked. Sony says the new screen now delivers better color reproduction, reduced glare, and reduced "ghosting" on high-motion scenes. When compared with the 2000, the PSP 3000 does, indeed, deliver better color vibrancy (you can toggle between "wide" and "standard" color in the options to see the difference). As for glare reduction: we didn't find there to be a huge difference. Don't expect to play in direct sunlight, for instance. But you might have better luck with fewer distractions from indoor light sources....
Advantages: Graphics, sound, internet, radio(and other features) Disadvantages: none
...I have bought a PSP fat(red) as soon as it came out. I didn't buy it for the games as i already owned a PC and PS2 but for the WiFi and portable music/video player.
I bought it for £200 on ebay(new) and was very staisfied when it arrived. i connected it to my PC and found that it was very easy to use.
I mainly used it on plane- and car journeys .
Now i am still using the psp for watching movies, listening to music, surfing the web and from time to time playing a racing game on it.
About two weeks ago i have bought the new Nintendo DSi and found that even though it is newer the psp still has better graghics and features( eg. radio demo downloads music WiFi etc).
The best thing about the PSP is its internet browser. You can open any website, download movies and videos and even chat with friends on facebook and msn.
The battery holds...
Advantages: Fantastic radio/alarm at a modest price Disadvantages: None
...Just before Christmas my trusty but rather elderly portableradio gave up the ghost. I needed another one. But this was just before Christmas and my mind was on other things. Like Christmas shopping!
Whilst wandering round ASDA in Telford for a number of Christmas presents my wife drew my attention to a small but very attractive silver-coloured radio.
It boasted digital tuning (it is not a DAB radio, however) and three wave bands. One AM and 2 FM. It also has a built-in alarm clock function and a dial light of a rather nice amber/orange colour.
I was amazed at the price. £6.95? Surely it can't be any good for that price? It was actually remarkably good!
Controls are push button on the front and very well laid out, save for the slider switch for the two FM bands and the rotary tuning knob on the side.
The AM band covers...
