...The latest in the Alphabet books by Sue Grafton. ~Background~ A bit of background for anyone who hasn't heard of them. The Alphabet books are of the crime/drama genre and A is for Alibi was first published in 1983. The main character is Kinsey Millhone, a ex police officer now turned private investigator. She lives in a flat attached to the house of her landlord and now good friend Henry. Other recurring characters include, Rosie the owner of the local tavern, who serves some of the vilest sounding Eastern European food! William, who is Henry's brother and now Rosie's partner and Lonnie Kingman, Kinsey's friend and legal advisor. Although these characters occur in all the books, and there are some other minor characters who pop up now and then, the books are all stand alone books. Hip and Chic on the Sunset Strip: Grafton on Sunset

Advantages: Hip and trendy decor, good location, great value for money
Disadvantages: Might be too trendy, seems to market itself towards a party crowd

...Pre-visit I had probably heard more bad things about Los Angeles than good so it was with some trepidation that we decided to spend the final three nights of our honeymoon in the city of angels. Furthermore, after having spent the rest of the trip being pampered and pandered to in some of the best five star hotels in the places we visited, this time we decided to try something a bit different. The Grafton on Sunset is certainly not down-market; in fact it is a boutique four-star hotel. However the other hotels we stayed in on honeymoon were elegant, sophisticated and definitely very grown up, whereas this one came across as being younger, funkier and situated in a location known for its nightlife, Sunset Boulevard. ...Grafton Capital Hotel (review) Have just come back from celebrating St. Patrick's Day in Dublin and stayed for three nights in the Grafton Capital, Lower Stephen`s Street, Dublin 2. Myself and two girlfriends shared an ensuite triple room which consisted of a double and one single bed. It had tv, telephone, trouser press plenty of tea and coffee making facilities and the usual hair-dryer in the bathroom. For those that have used these hairdryers you will know that it's very difficult to style your hair properly though it's adequate for drying. The shower over the bath was quite powerful. The room which was roomy enough had a couple of chairs and dressing table with a large mirror. For those that wear make up use the bathroom mirror as the lighting in the room is not very bright. ...The Grafton Centre This is a great place for all your shopping needs. With it’s convenient car parks and many bus stops linked with the ‘Park and Ride’ scheme and other routes. It’s easy to visit and also escort your shopping home. The Centre also has facilities for leisure and eating out. The top floor is dedicated to this, containing an Italian restaurant, fast food chain stores and a ‘Warner Brothers Village’ cinema. There is also a small coffee stand on the first floor where shoppers can just stop for a quick break. The shopping centre has many large chains stores but also contains smaller stalls selling wind chimes, lava lamps, craft jewellery and other small gifts and novelties. Effortless at the Cambridge Grafton Centre

Advantages: excellent facilities, toilets, coffe shops, etc
Disadvantages: cant always find what you are looking for

...The Grafton Centre is Cambridge's latest shopping extravaganza! Containing a good selection of clothing stores, it is a 'must visit area' when shopping in Cambs. It also has plenty of Coffee stops for those parched after the short walk from the city centre! Shops at the Grafton Centre are not only just inside, but outside on all surrounding streets too. This makes your stay at the centre much more fun, as there is more to explore and look around. Some examples of the main stores in the centre are; Virgin, Bay Trading, Thornton's, Heffers, Thomas cook.. and many more including a massive BHS and Debenhams branch that has everything you could possibly imagine and more. ...I had a sneaking admiration for Kinsey Millhone right from the off; the off being A is for Alibi, the first in Sue Grafton?s series of novels featuring the 32 year-old, twice-divorced female private eye from Santa Teresa, California. ...I discovered Sue Grafton at my local library whilst I was browsing for something that took my fancy to read. I first saw 'P is for Peril' and B is for Burgular' and wondered if the series ran through the whole alphabet. After a little reading of the inside cover listing the other titles by this author I was chuffed to bits to see 'The Alphabet Series'... 26 books! And guess what I thought... 26 books = 26 reviews! On that basis I decided to read the blurb on the back of one of the books and decided that it sounded right up my street but wanted to read the series in order right from A through to Z. ...T Is For Trespass is the latest in the Alphabet Series by Sue Grafton. The series started in 1982 with A is for Alibi, and she has written further ones almost every year till now. Sue Grafton also published "Keziah Dane" and "The Lolly Madonna War" in 1967 and 1969 respectively. In 1992 "Kinsey and Me" was published, it is a collection of short stories. Initially publishing her books was slow, and Sue Grafton spent 15 years writing screenplays. During a bitter and lengthy divorce she found an outlet in fantasising about ways to kill her husband.
