...Playa Del Ingles in Gran Canaria.....what a place! i love it there, even though i've only ever been twice in my whole life if i could afford to go every year this is the place i'd go, well here and Salou ;) I recently went to PDI (short for Playa Del Ingles) in July 2007 for 2 weeks, with my young daughter who's 6 and my mum (don't ask lol), we were booked into the Jardin Del Sol appartments, obviously i did abit of research beforehand as i like to know what to expect when traveling with my daughter and the reviews i read were ok, like with most reviews you'll get some great ones and some not so great, where ever you stay it all depends on the person and what you yourself make of the place, but here's my 2 pence worth anyway. A Grand Time In Gran Canaria

...I have just come back off my holiday to the amazing resort Playa del Ingles. I walked along the Dunes at Maspalomas. I would differently go back there again. There is something for everyone at Gran Canaria for example mini-golf, swimming, go-karting for kids and for others windsurfing, sea fishing, scuba diving, jet skiing, golf, tennis and squash. They also have waterparks and camel safaris plus zoos. Three of the main zoos are Palmitos Park, Reptilandia Park and Parque De Crocodilos. First of all there is no time difference. You need no jabs. The buses are very cheap and come regularly. Car hire is available and petrol is 31p per litre. Tempratures on average are between 65-75F. The coolest months are from December to April, but even then the lowest it gets is 70F. Summer tempratures are from 75-80F. This...

...As it's that time of year when everyone starts flicking through the brochures to find their summer holiday destination, so I thought I'd review Puerto Rico in Gran Canaria which was our destination last September. Gran Canaria is the third largest of the Canary Islands (after Tenerife and Fuerteventura), and although owned by Spain, is just over 200km from the north coast of Africa, which explains its climate. A Grand Time In Gran Canaria

...a beautiful harbour there and you can see the fish swimming in the crystal clear water. In the other direction you've got Maspalomas, it's got some sand dunes that have been imported and a tall lighthouse. There are also some fine hotels there that are worth a look at, beware of the nudists, not a pretty site, believe me. Just past Maspalomas is the large resort of Playa Del Ingles. I found this resort to be a bit disappointing, it's very spread out, it is also quite built up. We took a boat trip to see dolphins from the harbor, it cost 15 Euros each and lasted two and a half hours, we did see some dolphins, not many though and they are very quick so very difficult to photograph. ...Went to Playa del Ingles last year,we were there for gay pride and it was absolutely amazing.The Yumbo center has a lot to offer,in the day time it has tons and tons of shops from tobacco shops to electrical,fragrances and tons of fashion shops.In the night the yumbo center is filled street performers and cabaret bars my favourite rickys bar a must see show.there is a water park just a short bus ride away make sure you wear sun lotion as i got burnt so quick there.The beach is satisfactory.I just want to make people aware when you go into the town center be careful there are loads of people promoting there pubs offering you free bottles of champagne and buy one get one free drinks once inside they charge you full price for everything we were only in the pub for about 20 minutes and only had two drinks they tried to charge us nearly 200...

Gran Canaria, NEVER go to Vennesol Bungalows

Advantages: gorgeous weather, plenty of things to do and see
Disadvantages: Place I stayed was full of cockroaches, beaches are too full & not that nice, people trying to force you into their restaurant.

...with lots of different animals, especially crocodiles and aligators! brilliant crocodile show, and parrot show, nice location in mountains so some good scenery! open all day and cheap entry fee, perfect for families! All of these are deffinetley reccomendd if you go to Gran Canaria! RESTAURANTS: The restaurants were reasonably priced but some of them were VERY PUSHY when you walked past which was a real pain. PUERTO RICO AND PLAYA DEL INGLES: I would not go back to Gran Canaria again, we went to Puerto Rico and playa del Ingles on some days and out, but no better. We just couldnt stand it, there were people who push to try and sell you things in their shops and on the streets one man actually came into a restaurant and was tryin to sell watches he would not leave people alone. OVERALL: I would not go back to Gran Canaria again...

...I went to Playa del Ingles in July of this year. I am 19 and went with my boyfiend. We chose this resort because it promised to be lively-and it was! We travelled with Just holidays and stayed self catering in the Liberty Apartments. The cost of the holiday was reasonable and the apartments were centrally located though quite a walk from the beach, and although quite basic was very pleasant and quite a 'young' hotel with a poolside bar and small convenience shop. I would recommend the nightlife to any age. It is typical of a large resort such as this which claims to be the second biggest in Europe. The English centre seems more catered towards families with numerous pubs and restaurants, as opposed to the Plaza and Kasbah Centres which cater for people like us with even more clubs and bars.
