A Long Weekend in Blackpool @ the Grand Metropole

Advantages: Clean and generally friendly hotel, very reasonable prices

...Are you seated comfortably? This is a long review of my stay at Blackpool?s Grand Metropole. WHAT AND WHERE? The Grand Metropole Hotel, Blackpool boasts that it is the only hotel in Blackpool located between the sea and Blackpool promenade which is certainly the truth. From the hotel there are fabulous views of the Irish Sea. The hotel is fairly close to both the North Pier and Blackpool Tower and is within walking distance from many of Blackpool's attractions. There are numerous bars, restaurants and nightspots within a few minutes walking distance of the hotel, some even less than a minute away. Advantages: None that I saw
Disadvantages: where do I start?

...I'm probably being a bit naughty comparing this hotel with the De Vere Grand ( the hotel next door), but after spending a fabulous night costing £165 for evening meal ,bed, and breakfast, which included a room with a sea view, a proper menu to chose from for the evening meal, luxury toiletries in the luxury bathroom, excellent service etc, etc, we stupidly didn't go back there, we decided to give the Metropole a try instead....WHY, oh WHY? We opted for a similar package, ok at £120, it was a little cheaper, but I can honestly say you got at least £100 better service from the Grand. Right forget the Grand, forget the beautiful three course meal served at the table, the free wireless internet access, and let's talk about the Met. Advantages: Great place to stay.
Disadvantages: Slightly pricey, but still worth it.

...and helpful. They seemed to be mostly made up of Australians, which I assumed were students earning their way. Well I've always liked the Aussies, so I was happy there. Only a very short walk away, was Baker Street and the Sherlock Holmes House. If you're a fan, you can pop in to actually meet them! Also there were some great little shops and lots of Starbucks. These are all great reasons to stay at the Metropole. So, if you're in London, consider staying at this beautiful Hotel. The foyer is very welcoming, there are a few places to eat in there, and it has a swimmingpool and gym if you're into that sort of thing. All in all, a pleasurable and relaxing place to stay! The Grand is truly Grand

Advantages: A comfortable hotel and great restaurant
Disadvantages: Quite a walk up the hill or steps if escalator is not on

...I had a very hectic Christmas last year cooking for the family and generally doing far too much eating and drinking, so when it came to New Years Eve I was worn out, and to be quite honest just could not face another knees up to see the New Year in. My husband came up with the idea of going for a pint at tea time then back home for a night in front of the television. I agreed with that idea and then he piped up that we would have to go to bed early because we were getting up at six in the morning to drive to Scarborough and staying over night in the grand Hotel. Grand facilities at the 'Grande'

Advantages: Lots of facilities and good choice of restaurants
Disadvantages: Rooms are more basic than you'd probably expected

Grand Theft Auto IV - Grand Fricking Awesome!

Advantages: Fantastic Graphics, Amazing Story, Realistic Gameplay

...I have been a fan of the Grand Theft Auto Series since the first 3D version came out (Grand Theft Auto 3) on PlayStation 2, I remember buying it and spending a good week or two playing it none stop as I was simply addicted and I?ve never experienced such an interactive and open world game that could knock Mario World 64 out of my top favourite. I have prided myself in become a somewhat expert on all the PlayStation 2 versions of the game, I?ve completed them all multiple times and have been dreadfully close to completing them 100%. My heart did a flip off joy when I heard they were releasing a game on the Seventh Generation Consoles, but then my heart did a dreadful landing when I realised I wouldn?t have the funds to purchase a console in time for its realise, so from that day on, it has been a somewhat side goal of mine to get the game...

The MGM Grand is Grand Indeed!

Advantages: A fascinating place to visit and so much to see
Disadvantages: One can get worn out just trying to explore the whole hotel

...I stayed at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas for 3 nights and 4 days in August 2008 and can honestly say I had a great time. Please let me warn you that this is a fairly lengthy review of my experience. We got a taxi from the airport to the hotel which cost about $7 which worked out at less than £4 at the time. The first thing you notice about stepping out of the taxi and into the hotel is the fabulous air-conditioning. Vegas in August is VERY hot, well over 40o Centigrade! So it's really a relief to get out of that heat into the fabulously spacious lobby of the MGM and feel cooler straight away. On stepping inside the hotel (if you arrive by car) you are greeted by the large gold lion in the centre of the lobby in front of which it seems everyone who goes there for the first time rushes to have their photo taken in front of!
