In this bat they, once again, manage to get a good pick up and balance, something I find quite hard to find, especially on slazenger and newbury bats. One also has the option of being able to customise where you want the middle, for example, lower down if you intend to play on damp soft pitches, or higher up if the grounds are harder and somewhat bouncier. ...In my experience of Gray-Nicholls bats there has been a mixed bag, Gray Nicholls rate all their bats with stars and the rating is from one to 5 (5 being the best) now I have used a 3 star bat right up to the 5 star ones and i'll tell you now that if you want to be the batsman of the season and hit 100's of runs then the bat to get is a Gray-Nicholls with a 5 star rating. Many top international and county players use them and they perform time and time again. Most of their bats are made in England with premium english willow anyway which automatically makes them a cut above the rest. The bat is the trademark bat of Michael Atherton remade and is perfect for guiding the ball around the ground for 4's and can also be used by the more attacking batsman to hit that ball for six. ...**Introduction** I need to start off by categorically stating that I am not a fan whatsoever of gray nicolls bats. I believe they are very average and are made to look so good because matt hayden and andy symonds use these bats, hence the publicity, as these two players are some of the worlds greatest! However, I heard that the bat had a good middle, so I purchased one at a reduced cost and starting using the bat for a few nets! **Preparation** I prepared the bat very well, knocking in throughly and oiling well. This process took me a long time, but I hoped that by the end, I would have a good bat! ...Well, well. I’ve just stumbled across this site and noticed a pair of Nicole SD522 active speakers that I have been using happily for over 5 years. Haven’t seen these units (or the manufacturers/suppliers name) mentioned anywhere else on the web which is a shame because they’re extremely good little speakers. Seeing as they’ve given me such good service, it’s only fair I review them and I feel as qualified as anyone to do this, as I’ve been involved with top end hi-fi systems for longer than I care to admit. When I bought a computer 6 years ago, I needed decent speakers because the supplied set was pretty dire so I visited a local computer fair. I wasn’t expecting much and the sounds that hit me when I walked into the exhibition hall were dire - nasty plastic box speakers being driven well into distortion. But the back end of the hall... ...to go very loud!!!! A dial on the speaker sees to controlling the volume, which you can turn clockwise to make it go louder. To turn them off, you can turn it all the way anticlockwise until it clicks. When they are on, on the speaker with the dials, a red light is lit up. This is handy incase you forget to turn them off at night, as the red light will remind you. ~~~DURABILITY~~~ As I have had these type of speakers for such a long time they have certainly been through their share of tear and wear! They have been dropped off the table countless times and one speaker has a dent in the blue materialised section to prove it! Unfortunately Nicole's beginning to show her age, and the speakers do have some problems to go along with it (bear in mind this is after approx 8 years of working perfectly). ...Gray's 3rd album sees a culmination of styles he introudced in his first album 'A Century Ends' and his follow-up 'Flesh'. It is arguably a better and more rounded album, that shows off Gray's many musical styles and talents. 1 - 'Faster, Sooner, Now' The opening track is a lively and upbeat number. For Gray fans who are more used to his calmer and laid back works, the initial drum roll opening is quite a shock and instantly grabs your attention. The lyrics are sublime, and would have been a far better title track than the disappointing 'Sell,Sell,Sell' (but more on that later) This song is annoyingly short though at under 3 minutes, and you end up screaming for more! ...With his familiar head-nodding during live performances, David Gray is becoming more familiar, not least for his ‘sheep-style’ voice, which, in my opinion, is one of the most distinctive in recent years. White ladder starts with the familiar ‘Please Forgive Me’, which, being a very easy going, yet uplifting tune eases you into the album itself The more familiar ‘Babylon’ follows, which follows the trend of the previous track, both feeling very chilled, whilst his distinctive voice continues to lift the mood. The album ten moves into the more obscure tracks, which, although relatively unknown, more than live up to the standard that you would expect from this talented artist.
