...Despite my last order through the catalogues being a while back due to the appalling service provided by La Redoute I do still browse through them when the big heavy books lands on the doorstep. Last week that book was the Great Universal Spring Summer 08 edition allowing you until the 17th August 2008 to make your purchase. "Spread the cost with affordable payment options," screams the green circle of text on the lower left hand side of the page. Flicking through I am amazed at how expensive catalogue clothes have actually got compared to the same items in the high-street. Never the less I systematically fold over the corners of any page which shows an item I wish to purchase, but my bank balance refuses to allow, something I do with every catalogue, just in case someone else happens to flick through it and wish to buy me something...

...Fancy having a 5 floor shopping store in your front room with access to everything from your favourite armchair, well get a load of this. I am sure that if it exists it is available from this catologue but, while many other home shopping catologues may be able to make the same claim, the service that you get from Great Universal is what makes it the best for me. Catologues are seasonal plus lots of interim smaller ones. Ordering. For a start I have been with them for 8 years and I have a free phone number for ordering. I can place an order 24 hours a day and have actually tested this by placing an order just before midnight with no problem. Delivery. ...I have been a customer with Great Universal for at least 12 years now, I have several catalogues, but this is by far my favourite. Mainly because of the customer service I have received over the years. In all the years I have been shopping with the company, I don’t think I have had a single complaint to be made against them. Not a single item has got lost along the way, unlike other catalogues I have shopped with (though everyone is entitled to their mistakes). They do take roughly 4 -5 days to deliver, which is slower than some catalogues, which offer a 2 day delivery, but maybe that is why they have yet to make a delivery error with me. Though I can’t comment for other people’s experiences. They offer 20 or 40 weeks interest free repayment scheme, but regularly offer me not only 50 weeks interest free, but...

...So there I am, about to start a new job with 4 days notice, when I get my eye on a Great Universal catalogue on the doorstep. I flick through, and find a marvellous 4 piece suit for £89 - skirt, trousers, dress and jacket, all matching. Ideal, I thought to myself, so I rang up adn ordered next day service. Having never ordered from a catalogue before, I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was - one 2 minute phone call. So the next morning, I get out of the shower at about 7.30 am, and hear the postman banging on the door. SO I run downstairs in my towel, open the door a crack and take the post from him. When I came into the kitchen, the Great Universal delivery man walked through my back door, put the parcel on the dining table and walked out again. A great University

Advantages: Great people, small campus feels like a little villager.
Disadvantages: Not highly rated accademically...

great home shopping

...i have used great universal for a few years now.Ech year they issue 2 catalouges (sring/summer & autumn/winter) and occasional special booklets with extra offers and different goods. now as a busy working mum i love home shopping!it means i can try things on at home in my own time - without the ques and the hot and stuffy shops! it also means i can ponder my purchases befor i decide as the goods are on a 14 day home approval.This is very good at reducing those 'impulse buys'!! they have a good selection of ladies wear (however i have noticed that the last few books have larger sections for the more 'mature' lady - which is not quite where i am at yet!) a reasonable selction of mens wear, the childrens wear i persoally think isnt quite big enough - lots of choice for little/young ones but quite limited on the older/teenager side...

Lazy lazy days

...Great Universal, Trafford that was is one expensive way to shop. My wife first used Trafford in the early 70's when we needed to furnish our first home. I was at sea at the time and credit, unlike today was difficult to obtain, even more so if you were a serving member of Her Majesties Armed Forces. So we were happy when we stumbled across an advert for a Trafford catalogue which we promptly applied for and used and hurray a free gift on receipt of the first order became ours. The catalogue has stayed with us over the years and is now in its current form, Known now as Great Universal. It has been extremly valuable to us as it has helped us to spred the financial burden of a large young fast growing family. I cannot fault the catalogue which is a full colour glossy publication for its content which is very comprehesive...

A great university, with a brill social life.

Advantages: The city. Good reputation.
Disadvantages: The library could be better equipped.

..., and had a brilliant time at Uni. (Any of the Wighton lads from 1995 reading this?) Strangely everyone I know who was born in Leicester is eager to leave the place, but everyone I know from outside loves it. All in all, there is very little to complain about if you go to Uni here. There are loads of societies, a thriving university drama group and student newspaper, a very friendly RAG society.and loads of different clubs and organisations to get involved in. All in all, a great university, and a friendly and welcoming city. Come to Leicester....

...Yet another stop on my tour of Florida's theme parks with three of my friends was Universal Studios. Universal is linked to Islands of Adventure and we did both parks in one day due to limited time, although I'll review them separately. LOCATION: Universal Studios is in Orlando, Florida. As with most Orlando attractions it is fairly well signposted. You just need to get onto the I4, the main road through Orlando, and it is signposted off this. There is a ridiculous amount of parking available. Make sure you remember which character and which number you are parked in otherwise you'll be searching for that rental car for hours! Each section is named after a Universal character such as Spiderman, the Cat in the Hat and ET. PRICES: This is a theme park in Orlando so don't be expecting a cheap day out! You can buy lots...
