Good eating in Great Yarmouth

Advantages: Cheap adn cheerful, vast menu, serves more than edible food, great staff, great clientele
Disadvantages: Toilet situation is a bit gross, drinks are expensive

...Getting stuck in Great Yarmouth during dinnertime my other half and I decided that we would venture down the sea front to get some dinner. Even though I have been to Yarmouth more times than I care to remember neither my other half nor I had ever eaten in the town so we were at a bit of a loss where to go. For those of you who have never been to Yarmouth the sea front is predominantly made up of arcades and restaurants so there was no shortage of places to try. With so much choice and no knowledge we decided to take a look at all menus, which are outside all the restaurants as a tool to pull people in. All the restaurants serve the same dishes at the same price so the only thing that sets them apart is the ?look? of the establishment. So What's So Great in Yarmouth?

Advantages: lots to do for both kids and adults
Disadvantages: can be expensive

...lovely from the outside and had awards galore, and there are a number of hotels as well as caravan sites around so whichever way you want to spend your holiday there is plenty of choice. We stayed in Caister at the Haven site there which cost £280 for a 6 berth chalet which was very comfortable and roomy and included on site activities and entertainment. There is another Haven site on the north coastal route out of Yarmouth called Seashore near the race tracks where I stayed 5 years ago and that was lovely too. Shopping The best bit about the shopping in Great Yarmouth is on market days which are run all year round on Wednesdays and Saturdays and in the summer have one on a Friday too. ...NAME OF LOCATION: Great Yarmouth, a coastal town in Norfolk that has been popular for generations with day-trippers and longer stay holidaymakers alike. BACKGROUND: I went for a week with Gee Vee Travel (see separate article) to Great Yarmouth staying at the Swanvale Lodge Hotel, 6 Standard Road, Great Yarmouth Norfolk NR30 2EZ (Tel/Fax: 01493 331442) with my parents. Advantages: Fun for all the family. Lots to do for everybody.

...I recently had to stay in Great Yarmouth for one night so that I could attend a course. I chose to stay at the the 20 roomed 'All Seasons Lodge Lodge Hotel', which is in the Gorleston area of Great Yarmouth. It is called a hotel, but Im sure its more of a B+B (but to be honset Im not quite sure what the difference is!) great yarmouth at half term

Advantages: great for kids

...After having pondered what to do with the kids during half term week we had decided to book a long weekend in great yarmouth.we travelled down on friday 19th oct after having booked a three bedroom caravan at the popular hopton haven site which is around 3 miles out of yarmouth.The journey was good apart from the good old tractors which love to come on the raods at rush hour anyway back to the hols,when coming into yarmouth you begin to notice the flat marsh lands the surround both sides of the roads,and loads of windmills they are scattered all over. HOPTON HAVEN CARAVAN SITE im not one to be picky we got a good deal so i thought at less than £110 for the caravan for the weekend but i couldnt believe that for a silver rated caravan the only heating they had was in the living room,may i say it was so so cold at nights you woke up...

GETTING AROUND GT YARMOUTH

Advantages: Good public transport
Disadvantages: Confusing to drive around

...I've been living in Great Yarmouth for 13 years now, and have been driving for the past 5 years. Although I'm a driver, it's not often I drive around town. There's many 1 way roads, and drivers can easily get confused if they are new to the town. There is only 1 main way into Yarmouth, and that's on the A47, locally called the Acle Straight, because it is a long stretch of road. There are other, longer ways to get into town, but that will really take you round the houses! As you enter Yarmouth, you will see the new bridge on your right and a roundabout, which will take you into town and seafront etc. Although it can be difficult to find your way around Yarmouth if you are new to the town, everything is pretty much well sign posted.
