...I like to read books from various genres and sometimes there is nothing more appealing than a nice, easy-to-read chick-lit book, especially if I am going on holiday. It was searching for holiday reading that had me in Tesco, perusing the shelves for something light and entertaining. I spotted The Beach House by Jane Green and thought it would probably be ideal. It was part of an offer, 2 for £7. The cover design is simple with the title set against a metallic turquoise background with small nautical illustrations. The Author Jane Green is an English born author who now lives in America. She is synonymous with the chick-lit genre and I have often seen her books about. I only recall reading Mr Maybe and Babyville and both of those were a long time ago but I was sure I had enjoyed them so had not qualms about buying...

...Recently I have been swapping DVDs with my friend ; I've been borrowing her 'up-to-date' movies and she's been watching my 'rom-coms'. Staycation not Vacation? Here's some Escapism!

Advantages: It's the perfect light summer read
Disadvantages: may be a bit too chick lit for some

...There's something alluring about the idea of living by the seaside, I always wonder what it would be like to be able to stroll to the beach whenever you feel like it. My only experience of doing so was, briefly, off-season Morecambe which wasn't, sadly, quite as halycon as the world the characters in this book are drawn to. The story here is set in Nantucket, an island off the New England coast, where days are a little more sunnier than in our Northern seaside towns, and real estate prices a little higher no doubt. I Want A House With A Pink Roof!

Advantages: excellent price, comes with furniture and doll's, good quality for what you pay!
Disadvantages: tiny hinges make assembly a bit faffy.

My first port of call was my old trusty, ELC. They do stock a beautiful doll's house, unfortunately it's £100 price tag was really pushing my budget, especially because the doll's and furniture weren't included and had to be bought in sets ranging from £15-£25. ...House is a fantastic series and I missed the first one but got in to watching this in the second series, so I rushed out to buy the first series box set and I could not stop watching it, it is so addictive. If you love medical dramas then this is one for you as it's not all your normal diagnosis, each episode goes through a new medical dilemma they have to try and solve and they are not your usual colds and virus's. House is a medical programme with a diagnosis to be made, so each episode has you playing doctor trying to figure what has caused the patient's medical condition. House is an American drama and is about Dr Gregory House played by Hugh Laurie he is a fantastic doctor, unfortunately he does not seem to have the patience for patients, and Dr House is a Doctor who says what he wants and does what he wants regardless of other...

A Wooden Album by Crowded House?

Advantages: 'Woodface' includes some of the most sublime love songs ever written
Disadvantages: It's all a bit much and much the same; the tracks that do dare to be different, don't fit

...Although I will always consider Crowded House to be one of my ?Dad?s bands? I have to say that I?ve developed strong feelings for many of the groups songs over the years. Teenagers are funny like that; we?ll go off on our own tour of music, claiming that Eminem and Dr. Dre are ?da bomb? before realising it was The Beatles and folky bands like Fleetwood Mac and Crowded House that vied for our earphones all along. The Greatest Days of Green

Advantages: Some terrific tracks are included in this collection.
Disadvantages: The two new tracks recorded for this release are not very good.

The Green Gem

Advantages: Great movie, wonderful performances, brilliant direction and a terrific script
Disadvantages: The DVD extras are almost none existant

...By most people?s standards, I am quite a little movie buff and will generally watch anything and everything when it comes to the movie world. My favorite genres are most definitely the 'Horror/Sci fi' and 'Action' films and the 'Drama' section is my least favorite, I do prefer films that go crash, bang, wallop to something you have to sit and listen to. It may come as a surprise then, that I am about to give such high acclaim to a drama movie. The Green Mile staring Tom Hanks is an exception to my fast paced standards, the movie has just about everything in the mix to suit almost everybody's tastes.
