The Mustek GSmart Mini - Small in size and price!!

Advantages: Incredibly small, good quality pictures
Disadvantages: No flash, unable to view photos straight after taking

...I'd been looking for a good, small, and more importantly, cheap digital camera for quite a while. I decided I'd have a look round a few websites and the first one to catch my eye was the Mustek GSmart Mini. The size was small enough to fit in my pocket, infact you could most likely fit quite a few of these in your pocket it's that small, and the price was even smaller (EDIT: £39.95 to be exact, it was £29.95 when I bought it but it seems to have gone up). I ordered it straight away and when it arrived (with a bag of fried egg sweets thanks to firebox) I took it straight out of the box and started snapping away... Size/Style - I got this camera mainly because of the size, its just so small, you can take it everywhere! The actual design of the camera is nice enough, mine is grey (unlike the purple one shown on ciao) and has the GSmart...

It's got a hard nipple

Advantages: No battery needed, small in size
Disadvantages: No preview screen, no flash

...When I logged onto ipoint one day, a message on the web site struck me, ?You can afford gSmart Mini Digital Camera?. Although I?ve already got a decent digital camera, a small inexpensive camera would be handy for me to carry anywhere. So, I ordered it straight away. The camera was supplied by Firebox; as you may expect, it also came with third party software, PhotoExpress and PhotoExplorer, for viewing and editing digital photographs. gSmart range of digital cameras is manufactured by Mustek, better known for their scanners (Digital camera probably has a closer relationship to scanner than optical camera). The gSmart Mini is measured 4.7cm x 6.9cm x 1.1cm, and it?s weight is 39g. It is so tiny like a toy that you probably won?t take it seriously at first. Picture this... the camera that's almost great!

...The GSmart LCD3 is one of those products that it?s hard to draw a conclusion on ? it?s impressive but can also disappoint. If you?re considering purchasing it, don?t discount it altogether ? but be clear about what it can and can?t do for you. Of course, the major selling point of this camera is its tiny size. At less than 3" × 2½" with a thickness of just ¾" to 1" it?s the most compact camera around that also has a built in LCD screen. So naturally, this would appear to be perfect if you want a camera you can carry around more often for those impulse shots, or if you fancy taking pictures on a night out without being too weighed down. Certainly, this was my intention as I was fed up with the whopping size of my old Kodak. As I?ve said, this is a really tiny camera. It?s very easy to carry on you and it?s extremely light too...

Is that a matchbox in your pocket ...

Advantages: Very small, True 1.3 Megapixel
Disadvantages: Camera freezes regularly, loosing all pictures

...BEWARE OF SPENDING TOO MUCH, some of the cameras are packed full of features and therefore quite expensive but one Megapixel is never going to give you a great picture. Anyway, I still had my shopping list to consider – lightweight and cheap. After looking at the specs of a couple of other contenders (the Nisis Quickpix Digital Pen and Konica Revio KD100) I decided on the Gsmart because it is just so darn small. I was impressed when it first arrived. It is VERY, VERY SMALL. It doesn’t feel too cheap (I only paid £50 for it so I wasn’t expecting quality). It also had that gadget-snobbery appeal, as demonstrated by the gasps of astonishment when I took it out of my bag to take photos. It does however have failings. Firstly, there is no flash. This camera takes clear pictures when in the right light, and like all camera you have to have a steady hand in order to take blurred free pictures. The camera is very small which you can take anywhere and is not noticeable; it can fit in your shirt pocket and forget it is there, with it having not much weight to it. The one I have is blue in colour, with a silver moon shape band on it.
