THE GUARDIAN.
Advantages: A good value, excellent read.
Disadvantages: None.
...--THE GUARDIAN---
When I buy a paper I want one that offers great all round content. I really look forward to Saturday when I purchase the Guardian. It's just really good value. I don't really get much time these days to actually read a newspaper during the week, as I am so busy writing all the time, but I still try to find time to read a few newspapers at the weekends. My newspaper of choice for Saturday is the Guardian broadsheet.
Sister newspaper to the Observer, the Guardian has been in business as a daily newspaper following the early success of the Manchester Guardian. The Guardian is quite simply great news with in depth analysis. What I find useful about the Guardian is its sectioning of content. It's a good value read with intelligent comment and Saturdays just wouldn't be the same without it for me. Awarded...

The Guardian of the left
Advantages: Easily available; good value for money; soon to be in Berliner size
Disadvantages: Quite bulky due to lots of supplements; no "Northerner" section in the newspaper
...I quite like The Guardian. I don't buy it every day - I mainly get it on Mondays when it has the Media supplement - but I certainly try and read the news and features on the website. I sometimes read the newspaper in the library as well.
The Guardian newspaper, which is a national, daily broadsheet, began life as the "Manchester Guardian" in 1821 and it had its roots firmly in the North West until the word "Manchester" was dropped from the title in 1959. In 1961 the newspaper began to print in London. By 1964, its editorial headquarters had moved to the capital. Since then, it's had a very London-centric view of domestic news. Its international news often focusses on human rights issues and equality issues, as well as the day-to-day stories which feature in other newspapers.

The Guardian
Advantages: cheap, well wrote, well sectioned out
Disadvantages: none
...The Guardian is without a doubt my favourite newspaper the newspaper consists of lots of different section. The main section, sport alongside the G2 come in every edition. The other sections which usually come once or twice a week include family, money, travel, technology, education and society sections plus much more. The news section which is obviously the main section of the newspaper is well set out, well written and it has proper news stories unlike other newspapers. The sport section is like all the sections well set out and well written. It also does well to keep a good balance of stories between all the sports wheras many other newspapers have an unbalanced amount of football stories. Aswell as the football stories, which still take up a decet amount of the sports section it usually has two pages dedicated to cricket whether...

Guardian, news for the pinker thinker
Advantages: Generally a good read
Disadvantages: Too London-centric
...The Guardian, bless it! If it didn't exist, someone would have to invent it! Originally this paper was called The Manchester Guardian. A surprise to many readers of that august newspaper, as it does seem far too London-centric these days. It was launched in 1821, by a group of Liberals. It is interesting to note that, 184 years later, it is still, broadly, a Liberal paper.
The paper lost the "Manchester" from it's title in 1959, this was to reflect the "national" nature of the paper. Apparently. This caused some unease amongst some readers. What caused a bigger furore was when, in 1970, the main editorial offices and production facilities were sucked away into distant London. As one long-time reader from the North West told me: "The rot that set in with the name change really took a hold when our paper was stolen by London!"

Thank God for the Guardian
Advantages: good range of views
Disadvantages: does conform to some stereotypes
...The Guardian has a somewhat ambivalent image. The term ‘Guardian reader’ is synonymous with the sort of hand-wringing liberalism that seeks to change the ‘racist’ lyrics of ‘Baa Baa Black-Sheep’. I must admit that in my time I have been a vociferous critic of the Guardian. The purpose of this review is not to refute these criticisms- they have a basis in truth- but to detail why, despite this, the Guardian is the only newspaper that I buy on a regular basis.
The Guardian’s politics are self-consciously liberal with a small ‘l’. It is not aligned to any political party and the common conception of it, as a ‘left-wing’ newspaper is just wrong. It is true that people with less mainstream, more radical views (protesters, pressure groups, radical politicians and so on...

Skin's guardian angel
Advantages: Makes skin beautiful - glowing and more even
Disadvantages: Price (but it's worth it)
...Fed up of a face that looked like a pair of saggy y fronts, I decided my face needed a quick fix. Face masks weren't going to cut it this time. My skin looked tired, grey and dull. I'd heard lots of wonderful things about Origins Skin Guardian from friends and members of Ciao. They gushed about how their skin was transformed. As I love Origins products anyway, I went to the counter and grabbed a sample. I ended up buying the 30ml size the day after.
This product is a serum that is applied before moisturiser in the morning and evening. It's not intended as a substitute for moisturising but as an additional step towards perfect skin. It is based on white tea, which is meant to be even better for your skin than green tea because is has very high levels of antioxidants. Antioxidants tame skin nasties called free radicals, which can...

Not My Guardian Angel!
Advantages: Nice packaging
Disadvantages: Very, very expensive and not that great!!
...I recently attended a Virgin Vie night an when the bag of goodies arrived, inside there was a free sample of their 'Guardian Angel' balm. Not being one to refuse a freebie I have been working my way through the teeny, tiny tub over the last few weeks.
- Price and Packaging -
I thought that I'd warn you as to the cost.... it's an expensive 20.50 for just 15ml.
My sample tub is very small with a clear base and a screw top blue lid, very neat and cute! The full jar is similar in style. Frosted glass based and a large dark blue screw top lid.
- What does it contain and what does it do? -
* Moisturisers and skin friendly lipids - to get rid of any stubborn dry patches on your skin.
* Evening primrose oil - help boost your skin's natural moisture
* Calendula which is thought to cure a range of skin problems such as burns, acne...

Guardian Angel
Advantages: Informative, detailed, non-sensationalist, Varied, Supplements
Disadvantages: Too many supplements, hard to read on cramped public transport
...Evryone has a favourite weekly paper - everyone that is apart from me - until recently. I have purposely given every newspaper a try, from broadsheets to tabloids, and even the Daily Star. Whilst still favouring a tabloid for those cramped tube trips to work, The Guardian has shot to the top of the list and is a must.
Once you've sifted through the piles of supplements which accompany any broadsheet (especially at weekends), The Guardian is head and shoulders above the rest in terms of content and that, at the end of the day, is why we purchase reading material.
The news section is informative, well-written without being sensationalist - there is nothing worse than papers such as The Sun screaming out a catchy headline about a tragic rail crash. The journalists are respected and give good opinion. The sports section is excellent...

Pays to shop around
Advantages: Uses your post code to determine cover
Disadvantages: The calculation for insuring cover
...I joined Countrywide Assured Insurance Services back in July 1999. At the time I was a first time buyer and was looking for a competitive home contents rate to cover me for the first year. I had never heard of countrywide Assured but chose them because I had arranged my mortgage through one of their independent mortgage representatives and wanted something less complicated while I sorted myself out.
Their home contents insurance is arranged by Guardian Insurance and is designed for people looking for contents cover at a competitive price, which was just what I needed.
In order to get cover from Countrywide Assured you have to qualify all 6 requirements. These are:
You require contents cover only for your home
Your postcode area is where minimum security is required
The home is self-contained
The home is not lent, or sublet...

My Guardian
Advantages: Journalism at its best
Disadvantages: none
...The Guardian newspaper is certainly the most lively, well informed periodical available anywhere in the world. I particularly like Friday and Saturdays editions. Friday contains the Editor - a small magazine type insert that gives and review of the weeks headlines from the world perspective. For example, you can find out what the Arabs think about oil prices, what the Bosnians think about Molosvitch, and what the French REALLY think about us! This is news reproting at its best - its is unbiased and even goes to lengths to try and unseat the stereo types in the media.
On Saturdays, of course its the very well stocked job section, although I read it for the superb sport section and the weekender. If there is something happening in the world of sport it is in the Saturday edition. If there is anyting happening over the weekend - its in...
