...The Anchor Guest House is situated in the city centre. From Dublin Airport, travel on the 747 (Easily caught from outside the airport exit, well signposted and regular) Stay on the bus until Dublin Bus Station, the Anchor Guest House is situated in Lower Gardiner Street which is just round the corner from the bus station. The Guest House is a town house with a new extension on the back. There are a few steps to go up and I have not seen a ramp. From the entrance hall, up about 10 stairs you walk through a sitting room to the extension which has a lift. The rooms are all well presented, clean and tidy with Television and en-suite bathroom with shower, toilet and sink. A tea tray will be put in the room for an extra small payment and will be filled up everyday. We have only stayed in twin rooms, but they will let them... Read review

...My partner and I stayed at the South Hampton Guest House for a weekend in early 2006. We choose the property because it was reasonably close to the centre of Cambridge Township (about 15-20 minutes walk) and also for it's price. We paid £45/night for the two of us including breakfast. The general décor was nothing to marvel about, a bit pokey and very old fashioned. However, keeping in mind what we paid our stay was reasonable. The rooms (I think there were 4 or 5 in total) were on the small side. Ours was fitted with a double bed, a single chair, one bedside table, a small wardrobe with several drawers attached and a tv mounted on the wall. There was a little side tray containing tea, coffee milk and a few biscuits. There was very little room for much else and we had to store our 1 suitcase on top of the wardrobe... Read review

...This guest house is located about 25 to 30 min. far from city center (by taxi) but its location has some advantages. Not far you may find the Old Art Museum and district of Lapa - one of the most elegant districts in town. 10 min walking you can also find The Docks, recentely rebuilded zone on river bord, plenty of restaurants, bars, coffee houses and other eat/drink locations. York House is a small romantic place, with garden and nice views over the town and river. Its decoration is discret but elegant - old fashion - with a very special atmosphere. The rooms are comfortable and some have very nice views. The food is delicious - even famous in certain gastronomic circles - and the service also good. This hotel is ideal for medium/long stays (more than a week) and depending on your preferences can also give you a familiar ambiance.... Read review

...I stayed in Sikkim House for two weeks whilst preparing for the Kolkata karnival in December 2003. The rooms we had were ensuite (rooms 301, 302, 303 and 501...as well as 502 later) with double beds, although we used them for single rooms. There's a phone in each room, but we didn't make outgoing calls...although every morning we called around to wake each of us up, and one of the phones handsets wasn't plugged in properly - you could call them, but they couldn't hear you or speak to you. Theres also a small sofa and a couple of chairs as well as two desks in the rooms, so there's enough space to fill up... Each bathroom has a toilet and sink, and a shower (cast into the concrete bathroom floor). The window in mine didn't shut properly... ...A couple of years ago we decided to go on holiday to Yorkshire. We have an autistic son who does not handle long journeys well so we often split it with a stay in a B&B for a night or two. We decided to book somewhere in the Staffordshire region as I had been collecting Tesco vouchers in order for us to go to Alton Towers. An internet search produced a few results and I got in touch with them. Most replied quickly. Only two could accommodate us, and Park View Guest House was the cheapest. The problem we have is that we are not an average sized family. There are six of us. Most guest houses only have single, twin and double rooms. Those that have family rooms usually only cater for two children in a room. Now we could split and have two children each, but this would double the cost. Or we could put two of the children in a twin... Read review

Disadvantages: YOU WON'T EVER WANT TO LEAVE!

...around Berwick prior to officially checking in at 4pm. She was very accommodating with this arrangement, and was there to welcome us when we arrived. Our first impressions of the house were spectacular - wonderful wrought iron gates, opened wide to welcome us. A huge garden full of well established trees and shrubs, all wildly autumnal in oranges and golds and russet colours, and whilst waiting for the front door to be answered, we spotted a heron flying up into the trees from the fishpond! So when Karen came to let us in, we were standing, mouths open in awe, like human goldfish! On entering the house, we were presented with a well lit, thickly carpeted hallway which had it's own fireplace - a warm welcome one winter evenings we thought. Advantages: Bottom As It Is Meant to Be

...Guest House Paradiso is a cinema extension of Rik Mayall and Ade Edmondson’s Bottom. It’s how bottom wanted to be on the small screen but couldn’t because of censorship. This film is lewd, crude and puerile. It’s also very funny, if you like Bottom. If you don’t, then Guest House Paradiso is probably not for you. The film is set in a dilapidated old guest house which is situated on the edge of a cliff, right next to a nuclear power plant. For very obvious reasons, the guest house does not attract very many guests, but those that do arrive, wish they had never done so. Rik Mayall – Richard Twat (pronounced Thwaite) Richie (whose surname has been changed from Richard to Twat), desperately wants his guest house to be a success. ...I have stayed at the Kensington Guest House twice now, once for business and once as a tourist. Both times I have had a very comfortable stay and been well looked after by the hosts Bill and Bea. Where is it? The Kensington Guest House is situated on the main road through Holland Park. It is one of those places which is walking distance from town, but at the end of the day feel like you got away from all the traffic and millions of people in the center. Getting there… I traveled down the country on the train ending up at Euston. By purchasing a sub-way ticket I was at the Holland Park tube station in about 20 minutes. The Kensington Guest House being two doors down from the station! There is also a bus stop outside the Guest House where you can catch the normal London Red Buss into town, or be dropped of by the National Express... Read review

...afternoon, we have driven up from Brighton, stopping at an old favourite (no longer - it had changed hands) pub for a late lunch just outside of Blackburn, on the way. Before going to sleep, an early night prior to starting my business rounds in the morning, I penned (yes, with a genuine fountain pen!) the following impressions. "There's a man lives over the fish and chip shop thinks he's Elvis"………. ……..well maybe not quite, but over a Blackpool fish and chip shop you will find the "Texas Steak House", and over the Texas Steak House you'll find The Windmill Hotel.
