Fathers Guest House, great place in the Cameron Highlands

...Fathers Guest house has the perfect location on a small hill overlooking the tiny town of Tanah Rata in the Cameron highlands. Situated outside the town, but only a 3 minute walk into it, it has fantastic views and is tranquil but still has access to any activities the town has to offer. If you call the owners in advance letting them known when you will arrive then they will collect you from the town and save the walk up the hill with heavy bags. They also tend to be one of the touts who wander the bus drop off area and so if you arrive by bus then there is almost always someone there who you can ask to get a lift up the hill. Driving up towards the guesthouse the first thing that is obvious is that this is a beautiful area. The views from the top go right across the town and amongst the rolling hills of the area. Tarbet House - a cut above the rest!

Advantages: Stunning views, modern and spacious!
Disadvantages: Does not cater for children or pets

South Hampton Guest House - ok

Advantages: Reasonably Priced
Disadvantages: Very Small Rooms

...My partner and I stayed at the South Hampton Guest House for a weekend in early 2006. We choose the property because it was reasonably close to the centre of Cambridge Township (about 15-20 minutes walk) and also for it's price. We paid £45/night for the two of us including breakfast. The general décor was nothing to marvel about, a bit pokey and very old fashioned. However, keeping in mind what we paid our stay was reasonable. The rooms (I think there were 4 or 5 in total) were on the small side. Ours was fitted with a double bed, a single chair, one bedside table, a small wardrobe with several drawers attached and a tv mounted on the wall. ...The Anchor Guest House is situated in the city centre. From Dublin Airport, travel on the 747 (Easily caught from outside the airport exit, well signposted and regular) Stay on the bus until Dublin Bus Station, the Anchor Guest House is situated in Lower Gardiner Street which is just round the corner from the bus station. The Guest House is a town house with a new extension on the back. There are a few steps to go up and I have not seen a ramp. From the entrance hall, up about 10 stairs you walk through a sitting room to the extension which has a lift. The rooms are all well presented, clean and tidy with Television and en-suite bathroom with shower, toilet and sink. ...I have mixed views on the Plymouth Copthorne Hotel. I have stayed here numerous times, and have experienced a variety of services from "average" to "good". There have been times where an issue arose, but this was then sorted out by the front desk staff. Saying that, the issue shouldn't have arisen in the first place. Pro's : Great Location in the center of Plymouth. If you are travelling by train, it is a 3 minute walk away from the station (or a really cheap taxi ride!). The prices - especially for weekend deals - can be competative compared to other hotels / B&B's in the area. They have parking under the hotel for hotel guests...

...I dont normally stay in guest houses unless in South Africa or Canada where the B&B style is much different. There you expect luxury rooms, a home baked breakfast, good conversation and a great location. Have now found one in Central London that is completely to my taste. The 1811 Georgian Town house is exactly as it says on the tin - a Regency property that has been metriculouly restored to English Heritage standards. The property is not only grade II listed outside but so all authentic on the inside and why the 1811 Georgian Town House was selected for my business trip. Hats off to our host, I'm not the easiest of guests but she responded to every need without being flustered I'm lactose intolerant and vegetarian, dont like man made fibres and had too much to do in too little time. A Bad Nights Sleep at Plymouth Travelodge

...A recent trip to Plymouth meant I needed to book a hotel for the night for me and my partner - but due to low funds it needed to be something cheap and cheerful. Enter the local Travelodge. I have to admit to having never stayed in a Travelodge before, but had heard that they were a cheap alternative. ~~Price~~ I have to say that I was quite shocked at how much one night would cost as I have stayed in cheaper and more luxurious places than this before. Unfortunately we couldn?t find a room anywhere else in Plymouth for that night due to various events that were taking place in the city. The Travelodge we eventually looked at didn?t have any standard double rooms available so we had to go with the family room which ended up costing us £79! A Room with a Loo

Advantages: Close to the town, good cooked breakfast, all ensuite, comforable beds and ample tea/coffee
