Hotel Bristol - Faded Grandeur But Not for the Fainthearted
Advantages: A fun experience - do it before it goes; good location; cheap
Disadvantages: Not the sort of place that suits everyone
...with private capital or by being incorporated into an international chain and the service has been dragged into the twenty-first century; happily, there still exist a handful of these dinosaurs where the customer is invariably wrong and guests are an annoying interruption to an afternoon of smoking and reading cheap novels. Hotel Bristol is one such hotel.

Advantages: Good leisure club,nice rooms
Disadvantages: Unfriendly staff
...functional attitude to their work, sure enough everything is done but there seemed to be an almost determined effort not to engage any of the guests. Rarely have I ever felt so intimidated by a lady serving at a bar. Friendly is not in the Jarvis, Bristol vocabulary.
The hotel is conveniently situated for a short drive to Bristol city centre either for business or pleasure. The attractions there would be...

Good Hotel for exploring Bristol
Advantages: Clean, comfy, modern
Disadvantages: Very expensive restarant and bar, rather sad swimming pool and gym
...This hotel in in the centre of Bristol within waling distance of Temple Meads Station. If you know Bristol then you will know that this location then might mean convenience but it's not gorgeous - a lot of Bristol was bombed in the war and rebuilt in the 50s and 60s and it shows! The hotel itself is newer than that though, but when you arrive it does look a bit tired and in need of a facelift...
