Driven to the Limits
Review of Guillemot Force Feedback Racing Wheel - wheel and pedals set by  LimpBizkitUK

Advantages: Styling, Strong, Durable, Good Force Feedback, Licenced by Ferrari
Disadvantages: none

...I am one of those people who love racing games. For years, I had wondered what it would be like to have a Force Feedback racing wheel and when I saw the Guillemot Race Leader FF USB Ferrari wheel, I had to get it. It has a huge stylish box, and was safely and securely packed. When I got the wheel, pedals and adapter out of the box (all included in the price) I set up the wheel within 10 minutes. It easily fits to a standard computer desk, though people using a pull out keyboard tray, will have to attach the wheel to that, never the less, it is easy enough to take off if you needed to type a letter for example. The wheel is VERY well made and upon closer 'inspection' I realised that feels of a much higher quality than the similiar Microsoft Sidewinder wheel. The Ferrari wheel is actually licensed by Ferrari and has a big Ferrari... Read review

Thrustmaster 360 Modena
Review of ThrustMaster 360 Modena Racing Wheel - wheel and pedals set by  stavroshamster

Advantages: Good build, rubberised grip, looks good.
Disadvantages: Clamping system slightly awkward

...!!NOTE: This review is not for the force-feedback model, as the 'product details' section implies, but is for the version without force feedback!! I am also reviewing the PC model, not the model for consoles! I borrowed this wheel from a friend in order to play Toca Race Driver 2 (great game by the way!!). I have been very impressed by the wheel. The wheel is made by Thrustmaster (whose parent company is Guillemot) and is a replica of the steering wheel found in the Ferrari 360 Modena as the name suggests. The wheel has a sturdy hard black plastic design with a rubberised grip on either side which gives you added control over its movement without the wheel slipping through your hands. It is extremely well built - a vast improvement on the wheel that I previously owned - The Guillemot Race Leader Force Feedback whic felt rather flimsy... Read review

Great force feedback wheel, complicated set up
Review of Guillemot Force Feedback Racing Wheel - wheel and pedals set by  chrisball2000

Advantages: Wide array of features - gear stick, paddles, force feedback, brake and accelerator peddles
Disadvantages: Can be time consuming to set up, compatibility problems on dated systems/games

...Steering wheels are the ultimate accessory for any racing game enthusiast. Unfortunately they can also be a real pain to set up. I got this wheel two years ago to use with some of the rally and formula 1 racing games that I own. Performance wise its the best wheel I've ever used. It has very responsive pedals and good powerful force feedback from the wheel (it has its own power supply for feedback). Also if you're into gear changing then there's the option of either the gearstick or gear-shift paddles behind the wheel. Personally I found the gearstick a bit awkward to use on games but the paddles behind the wheel are really comfortable and easy to use. The main problem I have found with this game is compatibility although these problems may only be unique to my system ( a Win 98 pII 400mhz ). I was generally able to get the wheel... Read review

Logitech Momo wheel - watch out for the pedals
Review of Logitech MOMO Racing - wheel and pedals set by  stavroshamster

Advantages: Sturdy design, rubberised grip, force feedback
Disadvantages: pedal problem

...II recently purchased the Logitech Momo Force Feedback racing wheel from www.scan.co.uk (previously reviewed by me on Ciao) for £65 (excluding p&p). The price has gone up slightly now though. I have found this wheel to be, in general, much better than my old wheel - the Guillemot Race Leader Force Feedback - which stopped working after I got Windows XP, and the Thrustmaster Modena wheel which I have reviewed previously on Ciao. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The wheel has the following features: Designed by MOMO - MOMO is one of the world's leading designers of steering wheels and automotive accessories, for the track and the street - look out for their name in Michael Schumacher's Ferrari Formula One car. Full rubber wheel - the wheel... Read review

phoenix from the flames
Review of Guillemot Maxi Gamer Phoenix by  zef

Advantages: 16mb 3dfx chip good software bundle PCI or AGP
Disadvantages: none

...This card cost me £100 last year but I have to say it breathed new life into my tired computer. I bought the PCI version but the 16MB and 3DFX voodoo banshee chip made my games seem real again. It was straight forward to install and came with some DVD software, F1 racing, Half life and tonic trouble which was a very good bundle of games especially Half life. The customer support is very good with new drivers being released regulary and instructions are easy to follow. I have had no problems with this card and next time I upgrade it will be with another guiellemot card.... Read review

Bring your racing games alive with the Microsoft Force Feedback Wheel
Review of Microsoft SideWinder Force Feedback Wheel - wheel and pedals set by  NOFEAR

Advantages: Good accurate force feedback and well built
Disadvantages: Not the cheapest force feedback wheel around

...Admit it, playing racing games with a digital controller isn't very good. The best way to enjoy racing games is with a wheel, but with so many to choose from the choice can be a little hard. Microsoft do a force feedback wheel and a standard wheel, each with different connectors. You can either get a standard joystick port or a USB port, but there is no real advantage between them, it just depends on what you have already. The force feedback wheel is very good indeed. The motor is very powerful and most games support it. The wheel itself is very well built, and can take a lot of punishment. I have had one for nearly a year now and I haven't had any problems with it at all. The force feedback wheel is about £100, while the standard one is around £80. I recommend you get the force feedback one as it brings your racing games alive, while... Read review

Guillemots Flying High
Review of Guillemots - Through The Windowpane by  theheathenchemist

Advantages: Original, Quirky, Uplifting, Soulful
Disadvantages: Nothing

...Through the Window Pane is a 12-track indie album by The Guillemots, A five piece from Birmingham. Headed up by Fyfe Dangerfield, with his soulful and melodic voice, and backed by four other very talented members they push the boundaries of experimental indie music. This is their debut album and is far more polished than their two EPs that were accused of being too experimental and felt slightly lacking. A come back for the retro sounds of a Casio Keyboard along with the perfectly placed out of tune isntruments, all put together nicely including a good inclusion of phone rings The first track on the album, Little Bear, sets the tone for the entire record. It is instrumental, at times over the top and has some beautiful melodies. The rest of the album follows suit but there are definite highs and lows all coming to a dramatic close... Read review

Review of Logitech WingMan Formula Force GP - wheel and pedals set by  sting_of_the_scorpion

Advantages: very rapid response, cheap
Disadvantages: needs more buttons

...Having purchased a copy of Need for Speed: Most Wanted for my pc last Christmas, I decided to get a racing wheel to get into the game (as a little gift for myself)... I got this racing wheel at a local RadioShack for roughly US$100 (before rebates and all that crap). After rebates and chatting-down the girl at the checkout, I paid about US $30 for it. This racing wheel was a purchase I will never regret. USB 2.0 and v1.1 made connectivity very easy. Software was extremely easy to install and calibration (the process by which the wheel determines the angle to which you turn it while racing) only takes a minute or two. For me, I went from opening the box to racing in well under five minutes. Installation of the driver was a matter of just letting the CD autorun and clicking Next as many times as required. Calibration was a matter... Read review

Off road mayhem
Review of 4 Wheel Thunder (DC) by  jambo5000

Advantages:
Disadvantages:

...Developed by French team Kalisto, past masters at the 3D racing genre, 4 Wheel Thunder is an off-road spectacular, rightly hailed by the Official Dreamcast magazine as the finest racing game for the console system yet. Packing in more than sixty hardcore offroad vehicles, each sporting beautiful bodywork detail and suitably oversized tyres and treads, it drops gamers into a world of dirt-spewing, rubber-burning, out and indoor racing mayhem, where an understand of exactly how machine and nature respond to each other is crucial to success. It's this man versus nature element to 4 Wheel Thunder that really sets it apart from track-based racing titles, the larger-than-life nature of the races really making for excellent multiplayer action as well as top solo gaming. There are 24 detailed tracks in all, each complete with shortcuts... Read review

Help - Its Tearing My Arms Off
Review of Microsoft SideWinder Force Feedback Wheel - wheel and pedals set by  stephbu

Advantages: Simulated Reality
Disadvantages: Price

...I'm one of those types who would love to thrash their car to within an inch of it's life while blasting around a race track. But then wakeup sweating. By laying my hands on a Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback wheel, I could well have found the next best thing to dousing myself in engine oil, then sitting in the bath blowing raspberries. The wheel and pedals are simple to install, pedals plug into the wheel, the wheel is plugged into the mains and USB bus. The wheel has a clever built-in clamp with quick release lever to secure it desks etc. Windows Me and Windows 2000 automatically recognised the wheel and installed the right drivers without complaint (though 95 & 98 both need the accompanying CD to get things throbbing) The wheel feels solid, comprising of a weighty (metal, plastic coated) rigid black plastic, trimmed...
