Peavey ValveKing 212 review

Advantages: Great value. Awesome tone. Very LOUD!
Disadvantages: Very heavy. Footswitch not included.

...The ValveKing 212 is a 100 watt combo with a beautiful valve tone. It's a twin channel all tube amp with two 12" speakers encased in an open backed cabinet but unlike the "Classic" the valves are protected by a guard. I use this amp live for lead guitar in a blues band. Peavey are renowned for their reliability and it has never let me down. There are two inputs, 1 is for single coil guitars and 2 is for a high output guitar. The clean channel has volume, bass, middle and treble controls. These don't really seem to effect a huge change in the full warm sound of the amp. However, there is a Bright Switch which boosts the treble very significantly. To my ears it's way over the top and will cause a telecaster to bite your head off. It's a bit like an OTT Fender Twin. However, you may want this boost if you're a country twanger or if want...

Peavey Valve King 212

Advantages: Really nice clean tones
Disadvantages: Rather muddy and weak overdrive channel

...analougue sounding reverb it is too. External speaker out which is handy for larger gigs. FX loop which is always nice. Thats about it, nice and simple. Durability: This thing is built like a tank! while i was taking it to a gig in my car it fell over onto a metal bracket in my car boot and luckily missed metal panel with the volume knob on it but hit the wood casing at the top left instead and made a massive dent in the wood! But this thing is built so well that the tubes didn't even break! Very shock absorbant indeed. Also a very very heavey amp for a 212! - I think it must be the Eminence Speakers that are 60W each instead of the stock Peavey speakers that were 50W each Value: I think overall this amp is perfect for a guitar player who diggs the clean tone or playing soft rock or blues etc. definately not for the metal head! A great British guitar amp

Advantages: Great, and flexible sound at all volume levels
Disadvantages: Could be even more flexible

...I bought this amp after having spent some quality time with a Park G10. To say the difference blew me away would be putting it mildly. Where the Park had one flat sounding channel with the volume varying wildly depending on how much gain was applied, the Marshal has three channels. One clean (With a special boost button to add even more sparkle to your sound) and two distortion channels. The distortion channels unfortunately share an EQ section, but the second channel does have an independent Contour control. Each channel has independent volume and each distortion channel has independent gain, each with a different sound. You also get an effects loop with variable dry/wet ratio, a ?Power Dimension? button, that makes the amp sound like it?s working hard while keeping the volume down, clean and distortion reverb levels, headphone socket...

Vox VT15 Guitar Amp

Advantages: LOADS of features. Good sound. Quite versatile!
Disadvantages: Some may find it confusing to understand, get the sound they want etc. Some presets lack the oomph

...I got this for £155 The Vox VT15 is one of these modeling amps. It has: "VOX Valve Reactor circuit that uses a 12AX7 to produce real tube power amp sound" Just the one 12ax7 tube. Speaker wise it has 1x 8 inch 4 ohm speaker, Vox "original" they say it is. Now for the overwhelming amount of features this lil bugger has! . 22 amp models . 3 banks for each amp model (so 66) . 12 effects . 22 song presets . 4 channels letting you save 2 of your own sounds in each (so 8) . A power level switch at the back so you can turn down the amp down from 15W down to 0.2W. Other features like many amps it has a headphone socket but this one is a 3.5mm one unlike most, the smaller kind. May be more convenient but for this you pay in sound quality via headphones. Noise reduction is also available. The knobs are cream coloured chicken...

Quality Combo for 2

Advantages: Reliable, Large square loadspace

...My girlfriend works in a florist’s and I regularly get roped in to help out with the deliveries whenever I’m available. The van they have for the task is a red, T registration Vauxhall Combo van. So because of my experience I have decided to write an opinion on it, and also I haven’t written one on a car for a while. The cab is based on the ever-popular Corsa that unfortunately is immediately apparent as soon as you see them. As with many small vans on the market at the moment the van looks like it has had a square metal box bolted onto the back of it, much like the Fiesta based Courier. Review of Vauxhall Combo

An extremely versatile and reliable guitar!

Advantages: The classic bread and butter of our time - beautiful and brilliant
Disadvantages: expensive and daunting to a beginner

...off strat and have never looked back. I have heard horror stories about people going through a plethora of poor guitars and setups. This guitar covers a very wide range of sounds, i can play blues, punk, rock and heavy metal without any trouble coupled with my Line 6 Spider 6 amp. Besides the obvious bonus of being able to pose with it for a sexy Facebook picture, this guitar is extremely well built and easily capable of virtually any noise you want to produce with the right amp. I bought mine off eBay after a month of hard research and questionning to make sure i wouldn't make a mistake or be ripped off. As long as you are patient and realistic, it isn't hard to snap one of these beauties up at about £200 on eBay. Seriously, what are you waiting for, if you can't play it then hang it on your wall!...

Review of Guitar Hero 5 (Wii)

A truly classic amp

Advantages: Great sound, Very affordable
Disadvantages: Heavy, non remote +4 dbu effects loop

...has used a Marshall with different guitars and floor rigs realizes that a Marshall pretty well always sounds like a Marshall. Same thing with a Mesa or a Vox, or any number of "big name" amplifiers. When I'm doing a session for a metal project, I'll bring a Les Paul and some heavy sounding stomp boxes and the Classic 50 sounds like a metal amplifier. Then I can grab a Tele and a compressor and use the same amp for a country gig. This is not to say that the amp doesn't have it's own voice. The sound is very up front and present, the kind of sound that can be turned down and still cut through a mix. But somehow it still manages to avoid being harsh, even at extremely high volumes. Speaking of high volumes, this may also be the loudest combo ever built. Even when comparing it to tube amps that supposedly run at twice the wattage...

Review of Peavey Classic 50 Combo

Amped Out!

Advantages: Very Funny, really quirky, very good to pick up and play, value for money ++
Disadvantages: might be to strange for some

...Amped 3 is the third game in a line of snowboarding games from Indie Built/2K Sports and it expands on the previous two games in the fact that again it is a X-Box exclusive. The game was released with the console as part of the launch line ups therefore one of the first next generation games available. Amped 3 is as i said a snowboarding game, but there are things in this game which set it apart from rivals such as the SSX series. Not only is your character fully customisable from what hair style they have to what shoes they wear and everything inbetween, Amped 3 is also a sandbox game but i will come onto that later in the review. Combo Whizz

Advantages: Very versatile, easy to use, space saving
Disadvantages: not the best playback quality I've seen

...old video tape, and it was also very easy to label each newly recorded session on the DVD. The newly recorded DVD can be played back straight away to check that all is OK and any mistakes are easily deleted - I was using standard DVD -R disks so the deleted recordings still take up space on the DVD even though they will not be played back, to properly delete recordings and utilise the space freed up I would have to use DVD-RW disks. To make my new DVD playable on other players (including my PC) the DVD had to be finalised, this is a simple menu option which does not take very long but completes the dubbing process. I have to say that I am very pleased with my new combo VCR/DVD - it does everything I wanted it to do and I thought that the price I paid for it was reasonable. It takes up less space than the two machines it replaced...
