Behringer FX600 pedal -More sounds than a blender full of cats
Advantages: A lot of effects in one unit. Good price
Disadvantages: The Blue LED is a bit bright and can be distracting
...When you get bored of hearing your guitar making ordinary noises it is time to plug in an effects pedal. An effects pedal is a foot operated gizmo that you plug into the line between an instrument (usually a guitar) and the amplifier. Its purpose is to modify the signal from the instrument.
There is a huge range of pedals available, back in the 1970s I had two that are now considered to be classics, the Dunlop Crybaby Wah wah pedal and, I kid you not, a distortion pedal that gloried in the unlikely and slightly pervy name of The Big Muff Fuzz Box. Later on more advanced effects were available, with octavers, phase shifter and chorus heralding a range of modulating effects.
These range hugely in price but i have discovered the Behringer range of pedals which offer great quality at very fair prices. The FX600 is a multi-effects...

All join in with the Chorus: UC200 stereo pedal from Behringer.
Advantages: Great Value for money, Solidly built,
Disadvantages: battery access is a bit fiddly
...Oh my God, I here you say, not another effects pedal review. Don't worry, there's only one more to go in my collection.
As with the other pedals this one has a solid plastic moulding with a slightly awkward to open battery compartment, accessed by pushing in the pedal hinge pins and lifting it off. Much better to use an external power supply, it saves money and broken fingernails.
So what does a Chorus pedal do?
Well it sits in the line between the guitar and amplifier and alters the signal. Basically it is a modulating effect which adds a slight highlight and a lowlight, to create a softened, even slightly ethereal tone to the sound.
There are four controls that allow you to adjust the effect, Level, Tone, Rate and Depth, an input jack and two outputs so that you can use two amplifiers to create stereo effects. The controls...

Behringer PB1000 effects pedal board
Advantages: Organises and powers up to twelve effects pedals
Disadvantages: A bit expensive to start out.
...This is a review of a guitar effects pedal board. I suspect that the first thing I need to do is define what a guitar effect pedal is, and why you might need a board for it.
Probably the most well known effect pedal is the Wah Wah pedal, heavily used in reggae music and by the likes of the late Mr. James Hendrix and it is a pedal that alters the note of a guitar to make it sound like WAH WAH! Other well known effects are the dubiously named Big Muff Fuzz box, which adds distortion to the sound.
There are literally dozens of different effects that you can add to the chain between your guitar and the amplifier and if you have more than a couple of them it is worth thinking about getting a pedal board so that you can get them organised. The thing they all have in common is that they are all designed to be operated with the feet.
I...

RP12 Guitar effects
Advantages: all in one unit
Disadvantages: need to learn how to get the right sounds
...The digitech RP12 is a floor based multi effects unit for guitar with the ability to store sounds and call them up quickly and easily.
The range of effects is vast and they cann be combined to create a good range of sounds.
You store the sounds in banks and they can be accessed through the floor pedal board.
The effect quality is very good and the programming of the sounds is easy. You get 64 standard settings and can set 64 more
The manual gives a good start to the unit and allows you to get into the creation of effects quickly. The best way to learn to use it is to have a go and you soon will pick it up.
At the cost it is agood unit with a great range.
effects include distortion, eq, phaser, comprssor/limiter, echo, reverb...

Pedal Power
Advantages: Perfect for sporting or casual use.
Disadvantages: None
...My guess is that 75% of the world's cyclists have never really paid much attention to their pedals.
So long as they spin round, push the crankset in the right direction, and give you somewhere to rest your feet, they are of little interest.
Remember your first bike? Maybe you do, but you could probably not tell me what the pedals were made of, what weight they were, how much they cost, what cleat system they used, or how easy they were to service.!!
However, as bikes have become more complicated, and folk have more money to spend on personalizing them, the pedals have attracted more attention.
Here is a good example - the Shimano A530 SPD's.
1 The Manufacturer.

The Mama of guitar multi effects!!!
Advantages: fun to use, really nice sounds
Disadvantages: so many things... can be confusing sometimes...
...using stereo headphones, and playing with the factory presets. (which most of the time sound like crap), and this purely stunned me.
I couldn't believe what I was hearing. The sound was so pure, clean, precise? And that was just the factory presets!!!
It was love just after the foreplay. I HAD TO get the G9. So I did? Sold my GFX 5, and bought the product of my dreams.
WHAT DO YOU GET?
**************************
- The unit:
It looks really cool, kind of retro, but futuristic at the same time. Think the New Beetle of guitar effects.
It is also very heavy (about 5kg) due to the metal casing. That means STRONG.
You get 2 expression pedals (completely tweakable, but I'll get back to that), with one having the new Z pedal: a vertical action AND horizontal action.
You get the main knobs you'd find on the front of an amp, and 2 sets...

* Put the Pedal to the Metal! . .
Advantages: Can provide grip, can look good.
Disadvantages: Can become loose, expensive.
...Momo now sell a wide range of fittings for sporting cars, and to be honest the Momo pedal kits are typical of the modern products. The equipment they sell nowadays, is in my opinion, mainly for show, and although it may look sporty, it does not actually do anything for the performance of the car,
The fact is, in some circumstances, these could be counter productive, as these pedal "covers" are actually mounted on top of the existing pedals. This means that in order to depress any pedal, you have to lift your foot an extra quarter of an inch, sorry to be pedantic but feel free to argue against me.
The pedal kit is made to look like aircraft grade aluminium, and to be quite honest I have no problem with the quality, they do feel good, and are certainly sturdy. I have never heard of one breaking, even in an accident, however, I have...

* Put the Metal to the Pedal! . .
Advantages: Looks not at all bad.
Disadvantages: Expense, need to be fitted correctly.
...Momo Pedal kit.
I have used these, and find them as good as some manufacturers original equipment i.e. the pedals the makers fitted. These actually fit over the originals, so are in exactly the same place, just slightly higher. This of course means you have to lift your foot that little extra, which I find ever so slightly less efficient than the ones the factory fitted.
The kit is advertised as the Porsche style, and for competition use, although I doubt they have ever been used in comptitive racing, and are only in the "style" of Porsche ones.
As for the fitting of them, I must say that it is easy, although I must stress that they have to be fitted correctly, otherwise they become a hazard. Properly fitted, they are perfectly safe.
Now for the looks, in my humble opinion, they look tacky, although that depends on your own...

...Despite that over the years I have amassed a sizeable collection of video games for various games consoles; very few of those games have had me more anxious to purchase them than ?Guitar Hero 5?. Even though it has only been a short time since the release of their best of game ?Guitar Hero: Smash Hits? the wait for the games was next to unbearable for me.
Finally the release date of 11th September rolled around and my then newly purchased Rock Band: Beatles found its self taking a backseat even though I had only just purchased it two days beforehand on ?Beatles Day?.
How to Rock
So for all of you who have never experienced this fantastic gaming series and genre here is a brief explanation as to what it?s all about. Basically the game revolves around you press various buttons in time to a pattern of dots that move along...

Fear Effective
Advantages: Cool graphics and settings, great twists to story, challenging
Disadvantages: Can't save options, loading up from last save on death
...Fear Effect featured Motion FX for the first time ever; although you can see when the FMV loops, the backgrounds feel very much alive. A third-person adventure; the anime-style characters are well animated, but, in combat sometimes you are fighting several virtually identical enemies. Plus, picking up items can be tricky because of the camera angles; it's no surprise to see the game opt for tank-like controls - the characters do come complete with an 180-Degree Quick Turn, a highly effective evasive roll, and a Crouch Walk which allows the player to sneak up on an enemy for a Silent Kill. Also, as our playable characters are weapons experts, they are thus capable of firing double guns at different targets.
The game has its fair share of puzzles - these go beyond the find-keys-for-doors type, and though their solutions are close-by, one...
