Disadvantages: needs a distortion pedal for a good distorted sound, can sound harsh, tremolo arm knocks severely out of tune

.... For a single-coil guitar there is very little pickup 'buzz' and the choice of three pickups gives it a large range of varying sounds. The Tone dials do not effect the tone greatly, but the volume is very sensitive and allows for good sound control. PROBLEMS As with most guitars that do not have a 'locking-trem' system, the squier goes drastically out of tune when the tremolo arm is used, this doesn't bother me because I don't actually use the arm but it may hinder those that do. The sound from the guitar sometimes sounds slightly harsh or flat through the distortion channel on my amp, so I use a multi-effects pedal to rectify this. Apart from this, I can;t think of another single problem with the guitar. OVERALL This is an excellent guitar for the money. It has lasted me for seven years virtually un-changed as will last me many more years... Read review

Advantages: balanced structure, quality sound for the price paid
Disadvantages: heavier than other guitars aimed at beginners

...has a decent balance between the fingerboard and the main body. Many times I have played guitars aimed at advanced players where the body is so much heavier than the fingerboard, making it a pain to play when standing up. The pickups allow for bluesy and beatles style feel whereas the humbucker allows for a thick rock effect. So you can play at both ends of the tone spectrum. I once took this guitar to a party, by the end of the party it had had vodka spilt across it and it had been played violently by many of my mates. The morning after the night beefore I noticed four dents in the bottom of the fretboard, amazingly I did not notice any significant change in the sound the guitar gave me. Advantages: Online play and easier pull offs and hammer ons.
Disadvantages: Track list is hardly "Rock" few songs are likable. Guitar Hero 2 is better

...for a wireless guitar did not seem worth it to me. Nothing worse than running out of power halfway through a difficult song. ACHIEVEMENTS I would not usually bring up the achievements section in a review as the achievements rarely affect the game play. However in guitar hero 3 the achievements have been made stupidly hard. I'm guessing this is because guitar hero 2 had a few achievements that were difficult and they wanted to provide more of a challenge. SHOULD I BUY!? If you really have to buy the game then go for it. It is still an OK game but I think it will probably be going down in price very soon. The more cost effective way of buying the game would be to buy Guitar hero 2 with the guitar, which is better anyway, and buy guitar hero 3 as the game only when it goes down in price. Advantages: much cheaper than its gibson counterpart
Disadvantages: not quite the same as the gibson; cheap materials and build

.... when plugged into the right amp with the right effects the tone achieved at times can mirror that of the gibson models. gibson are reknowned for their hard rock/metal sounds with their rich humbucker pickups and this is no different. those wanting a big sound can expect it with this guitar. i play now in a range of tunings also and can easily drop the guitar
