I rather Haden this kettle
Review of Haden BHJCF Cordless Jug Kettle by
Shroud
Advantages: cordless kettle on short corded base, automatic cutout when empty, will not switch on if not properly seated on base
Disadvantages: still have to descale though VERY infrequently
...We have had our Haden kettle now for about 19 months. That is easy to recall as its only about a month older than our baby LOL Haden make a range of budget kitchen gadget type appliances and seem to be able to keep in business, so obviously they are not too dodgy even though not the most expensive on the market! That was our reasoning anyway :)And sorry for the truly dreadful pun in the title!!!!! (Blush!)
Our particular kettle is white with a greenish water indicator window. There is a red light on the on button near the base of the jug, which lights up to let you know it has been switched on. The cordless kettle sits nicely on its short corded base plate. There is a nonstick sort of looking plate on the inside which supposedly helps reduce limescale. I would say it does a pretty good job as I have only had to descale once so far. I...

my replacement kettle
Review of Haden AJBO 5302 by
mumsymary
Advantages: boils water for my tea/cofee,simple
Disadvantages: simple, corded
...Haden corded jug kettle.
The builders, bless their cotton socks broke my kettle and they replaced it with this Haden corded kettle I am not ever so happy about it but at least they replaced my kettle without being asked.
This white auto jug kettle cost about £18. The guarantee is for 12 months.
A plug is already fitted to the lead.
I find the cord/lead a little short .I am sorry I can find no info on the length and I can not find a measuring tool its about 30 cm long I guestimate .
This kettle is a tall jug with a water level gauge on the side. I find this useful. It will boil 1.7 litres of water.
The on off switch is located on the handle of the kettle. This is pushed down to start the kettle top boil and when the kettle boils it automatically switches off. My husband thinks it takes a long time to boil.
The spout...

WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT YOU GET
Review of Haden Classic Jug Kettle by
ragdoll
Advantages: good basic kettle at a budget price
Disadvantages: none that i know of
...As soon as i set eyes on this kettle i knew it was just what i was looking for in a budget priced jug kettle.
I found a bargain with this one,for just £9.95 i have a stylish 1.7 litre
capacity kettle.
It has three level boil dry cut out safety feature,in the event of the kettle being empty when switched on.
It comes with a full 12 months guarantee.Haden will repair or give you a replacement.
I don't need to fill it up completely,i can just boil enough for my needs.
Very useful if making just one cup of tea.
I like the easy pour shaped spout, there's no dribble or drips.
It doesn't have a filter, but that's not a problem if it's rinsed out and descaled regulary.
Some kettles i have had in the past had leads so long that they were hazardous as they would not coil round tidily.
The Haden Classic Corded Kettle has a lead thats...

I Need Coffee NOW
Review of Haden BHJCF Cordless Jug Kettle by
minxette
Advantages: Boils quick, holds lots of water and looks good.
Disadvantages: Not available in purple which is a damn shame.
...in everything being covered in white paper snow. On the load that contained my two favourite and very fluffy fleeces.
After spending the best part of half and hour picking white stuff off my clean washing, I put it in my old trusty tumble dryer. Which blew up as I watched. Understandably, a bit narked by now, I thought well I'll do the hoovering which usually serves as part housework, part therapy. Until the hose which connects the nozzle to the machine came off in my hands with no hope of repair.
At this point I gave up hope of achieving anything useful and put my kettle on, expecting it to blow up/stop working/fall apart. It didn't and that's why I love it!!!
Phew, that feels better! If you're still reading, which I hope you are, the Haden kettle I've got is the best kettle I've ever owned. It was relatively cheap at £19.99 from...

Dangerously designed cordless kettle.
Review of Moulinex Lirys by
mascarasnake
Advantages: Fast boil. Ambidextrous use.
Disadvantages: Fast boil your fingers. Noisy. Dangerous to pour.
...the kettle to settle on the base and so make a good electrical connection. Another consequence and advantage of this design is that LEFT HANDERS can use it as easily as RIGHT HANDERS.
We got this as a replacement for the other circular based electric kettle by Haden, which was getting a bit worn but was still serviceable.
We would have got another Haden, if the usual places we buy stuff from had stocked it, but Argos said that there was a problem with the manufacture of this product and we could not find it anywhere else in Bristol.
So we went to Index shop and found this Moulinex Lyris as the nearest similar design.
This Moulinex Lyris has a button on the handle that causes the lid to rise up automatically due to being spring loaded. This might sound helpful at first, and it should be, but as a consequence of the continuous tension...

Reasonably well designed safe cordless kettle
Review of Morphy Richards 43060 by
mascarasnake
Advantages: Quieter than the fast boil kettles, 3 mins for 1.5 litres.
Disadvantages: Not fast boil.
...The Morphy Richards Stainless Steel Kettle Essentials Jug (model 43058) is a well-designed semi pear shaped rounded jug style kettle, as opposed to the newer style tall columnar plastic design of the Haden and Moulinex ones I mention in another opinion. It is suitable for left or right handed or ambidextrous users as a consequence of the round base design. The kettle can be placed back on its base at any angle, most useful when in a hurry while cooking.
<<OK, so it is not a model 43060 but since there are no pictures and the model numbers do not mean much when searching for cordless stainless steel kettle jugs, which is what this is, I feel justified in placing this here, especially as no one has bothered to write about this category yet. Ciao can move it to its proper place if they introduce the 43058 category sometime. I can...

Kettle Called. I Said You'd Call Him Back
Review of Moulinex Lirys by
jillmurphy
Advantages: 360 degree base, large capacity, fast-boil, easy to clean, sturdy.
Disadvantages: Wide spout a pain for pouring small amounts, relatively noisy.
...of which were going for a ludicrous forty quid or more! – and considerably more expensive than those dreadful, throwaway Haden things. It had most of the features I needed. Crucially, it had a large, 1.9 litre capacity. Most kettles have a 1.7 litre capacity or less, and this is often not enough to boil enough water to use in a pan cooking pasta for four, for example. I prefer to boil water in a kettle first, because heating it to boil in the pan takes such an age. Therefore, I was attracted to the Lirys too, because it uses 2.2kw of electricity, making it a "fast boil" kettle. If, like me, you often need to boil two or three kettles of water one after the other, then this fast boil function is good. The Lirys was cordless, and therefore mobile, and it had a 360-degree base, meaning I could easily swap it from left to right hands – another thing...

Polly Puts the Kettle On!
Review of Rowenta KE 610 Kettles by
mrpaella
Advantages: Large Spout and Rapid Boil
Disadvantages: Too Heavy to Handle
...ORIGINALLY WRITTEN May 2003
INTRODUCTION
I know next to nothing about kettles. So I do not know why I am writing this op. It will be a struggle to come up with 120 relevant words. So I have deliberately padded out this op. The serious part of the op starts from the 'Features' heading.
WHAT I USE A KETTLE FOR
Apart from boiling water very little else!
I use the hot water for making PG Tips tea, Horlicks, Tomato Cup-a-soup, Oxo gravy, Super Noodles, Pot Noodles and savoury rice.
About a year ago I read a silly survey that tea drinkers had more sex appeal than coffee drinkers did. This was due to flavonoids being better for your health than caffeine. So I gave up drinking coffee.
A couple of winters ago the boiler and the back up boiler in the flat complex both packed up on the coldest day of the year. So I had...

When is a kettle not a kettle
Review of Brita Acclario Water Filter/Kettle by
northern_lights
Advantages: Excellent tasting drinks and you don't need a separate water filter
Disadvantages: Heavy and Easy Pour lid doesn't work too well
...A few weeks ago, I read a report that those with nickel allergies could be making themselves ill if they had a kettle with an exposed element, as the elements often include nickel. Although, I don't suffer from a nickel allergy, I opened the lid of my kettle and peered inside. Oh, dear, what a mess - the element was there, but I don't think I need worry about nickel allergy, the fur had built up so much, the element looked more like the start of a coral reef! Plus, little stalactites were growing off the side of the kettle, and stalagmites off the bottom. We'd had the kettle for a very long time, and although it had been defurred a couple of times, it was long overdue to be done again. As a jug kettle with an outside water level guide, we could fill the kettle up, without opening the lid, and without seeing the mess inside! We...

A basic kettle
Review of Russell Hobbs 3122 / Cordless stainless steel kettle by
jammy_banana
Advantages: Boils quickly
Disadvantages: is very loud
...My mother had wanted a new kettle for some time as our old kettle, also made by Russell Hobbs, was a terrible pourer. While shopping for a new kettle after being driven insane by the large pools of water that our old kettle made when you were just trying to pour some water into a mug, the saleswoman said that the best pourers were the one with a separate spout. My mother also wanted a dark coloured kettle as our old one was white and it was very hard to keep clean. The Russell Hobbs Classic Carousel Cordless Kettle seemed to fit these criteria so it was bought. We have had it for a few weeks now so it has had a chance to bed in.
The box listed an impressive array of features. This kettle had a scale resistant disc element, it promised that it was a “rapid boil, energy efficient disc element”, it has an anti-scale water filter...
