Hagen FLuval 4 - Easy Cleaning - literally!!

Advantages: Extremely easy to set up and get going and keeps the tank clean, healthy and a fun environment
Disadvantages: Probably a little more pricier but definately more hardy and reliable in the long run.

...The Hagen Fluval family are, in my opinion, the best at keeping your fishtank crystal clean and healthy without all the palava that usually accompanies aquarium mechanics. The product is for larger fishtanks and is quite bulky however, the noise it emits isn't intrusive and the "gush" of water can easily be turned down to a lower speed so that it is merely a bubbling in the tank. It also sits on the horizon of the water and therefore produces a constant stream of bubbles that vary in strength depending on how harsh you want it to be. I personally love it belting out at full blast, oxygenising the water to the max whilst watching the more adventurous of my fishies frolicking in the streams. The main emphasis though with this product is with the cleaning side of things - it does a magnificant job at keeping the water crystal...

Hagen Magnetic Cleaner

Advantages: Easy, do not have to get wet!!
Disadvantages: Expensive, scratch glass, don't last long.

...The Magnet cleaner from Hagan is a very simple design of two strong magnets, with algae pads attached to each side. This allows the magnet to be attached onto each side of the glass, so the algae can be cleaned off without getting your hands wet. Sound like a great idea.....I suppose it is, but not all ideas are perfect!! I have had experience of these magnets for several sizes and depth of tank. The first problem is when the glass is too thick. I have found that if your tank is a standard 5ft tank, the glass will be too think for the magnet. The second problem that I have come accross is that the magnets have a habit of becomeing detatched. Hagen say that this is not a problem, and thay supply a piece of black cotton to tie to both parts. This cotton is not however long enough, and this results in it snapping or not...

Crate or Cage?

Advantages: Helps toilet training, secure and safe place for your dog

...When you are preparing to bring a puppy home there are lots of things you need to have a bed, food and water bowls, toys, collar and a lead. Alongside all these items we also bought a Dog-it Animal Crate made by Hagen when we brought our puppy home in July. Why a crate? = Our breeder recommended a crate both for toilet training and also for providing the puppy with a safe area so he wouldn't come to any harm when we weren't there and also so he couldn't damage things when we were out. The truth about Tropiquarium 55!

Advantages: All included, superb filtration, well contained unit.
Disadvantages: Large filter, hard to repair, difficult to modify

...I've had my Hagen Tropiquarium 55 for well over three years now and it's been a great little tank on the whole. The smallest of the tropiquarium range the 55 measured just 52cm wide x 25cm deep x 38cm high, holding approximately 40 litres or 10.5 gallons which is more than adequate for a a small array of tropical fish like guppies etc., and is small enough to tuck away inconspicuously if not your main feature tank. As the tank is a complete unit the Trio 2000 filter, a three stage biological, chemical and optional filtration unit giving an excellent standard of filtration, the 100W tronic heater and the light housed in the hood (behind a protective cover that can be removed for replacing the bulb.) are all run of a single plug running from the tank hood. Saves on socket space and means no unsightly wires dangling everywhere...
