Ibis hotel centre, The Hague, The Netherlands
Advantages: Centre of city, excellent location, bars, restaurants, sightseeing, transport
Disadvantages: Some small rooms, could be noisy near busy road
...I have lived in The Hague for about 2 years now. Dutch name 'Den Haag'. Recently I stayed a night in the Ibis hotel, checking it out for some friends who were going to stay there and visit for a week. The hotel is located in the centre of The Hague, near a busy road, lots of shops, restaurants and bars. Perfect for couples, families wanting to be close to the action. Ideal as a base for sightseeing, near old grote church, dutch parliament, ancient buiildings, galleries, tram and bus stops. You may want to request a room on other side of hotel away from road if you are a light sleeper.
The hotel itself is quite modern with a large open plan bar and reception area on the ground floor. Comfortable leather seats and sofas. Lifts and stairs then go up to the restaurant and rooms. The eating area on 1st floor. I had breakfast which...

Home at the Hague
Advantages: very clean, value for money, excellent
Disadvantages: too far from Amsterdam
...Now not taking into account my 12hour journey on coach to the Hague, when we arrived at the Golden Tulip, for the price we had paid we were expecting a travel lodge of some kind, however much to our surprise the hotel looked very well presented with all glass windows at the front, looking into an exceptional reception area.
The reception had all marble floors, to the right of you you had a bar with a well spacious lounge area and to the right 4 lifts to all floors.
Considering there was a coach load of us, reception were very firendly and very quick in getting us all checked in and allocated to our rooms.
All the lifts worked to all floors and upon entering the room, it was very bright, spacious, with a king sized bed and everything that you required for your stay, hairdryer, television with sky, tea and coffe making facilities...

The Hague. Duinrell Flying High ! With Surprises
Advantages: Everything you could need for a family holiday!
Disadvantages: The public transport is overwhelming!
...!!! then back to their home for a welcome nights sleep before travelling on to Den Haag.
7.30.am. and we were on our way to Victoria Railway Station,
where we caught the underground to Liverpool street.
From here our tickets, £50.00 each return from London to anywhere in Holland, took us to Harwich, onto the wonderful new hovercraft, Stena Line Discovery, to Hook of Holland, then by train to Rotterdam, and onto Den Haag. (this ticket offered to take us anywhere in Holland on our day of travel.) very good value I would say...
But I digress !
How could I possibly miss out describing the great new train that sped North East towards Harwich, comfy seats, spacious and very fast...One & a half hours later we were directed off the train and straight onto the Stena Line Discovery. A super fast catamaran craft, televisions at every table...

See Holland in a Day!!
Advantages: small, good public transport
Disadvantages: not that many attractions
...Thinking about visiting The Hague? Well, let me tell you a little bit about this fair city. Having lived in Den Haag (as the locals call it) for about 4 months, this is what I discovered.
Right let's get the specifics out of the way first
The Hague is the third biggest city in The Netherlands (after Amsterdam and Rotterdam). It's conveniently located in between the two larger cities, which makes it an ideal place to begin your Dutch adventure. The Hague has a population of about half a million people, so it?s not a big city by world standards. In fact, as well as having a small population it?s also quite small in area.
The weather
Dutch weather is very similar to English weather, except it rains more! A book I have on Holland cheerfully informs me that the rainfall in Holland "averages out at less than 90 minutes a day...

Give it a miss!!
Advantages: some cheap buys
Disadvantages: too much like home!
...I went on a P.O mini cruise with some friends to Holland recently, the main place of visit was The Hague, this was my first visit to Holland and after seeing amsterdamn on tv , the hague was nothing like!!
It was more like one of our city's !, yes it had statues and grand buildings but the shops were just like being at home!!, C&A , M+S and of course Macdonalds!!
I was looking for something different and most things I could have found at home!, it had no character at all, the only difference was Cafe Bars !!!
There were plenty of little indoor markets selling cheapish stuff but, then again nothing you couldnt get at home!!
This part of Holland I wouldnt visit again!...

Not quite as right wing as Hague
Advantages: Makes the Tories look rational
Disadvantages: Predictable right-wing bilge
...Whilst it is certainly true the Telegraph is not quite as right wing as Hague (is that even possible, he seems to have dropped off the edge anyway) its affections remain unchanged.
The Telegraph hides its thinly disguised devotion for the Conservative party and everything right wing very badly. If you want to read all the stuff that you would expect to go along with that, then this is the paper for you.
The couple of times I have seen it recently (but thankfully not paid for it) it was clear that like communism, in conservatism the old ideas run deep – hang ‘em and throw away the key, return to ‘proper’ discipline, what is lovingly called ‘family values’ and the wonderful still target of ‘political correctness’ remain central to the papers philosophy.
If you want predictable right...

Duinrell Amusement Park - A Great Easter Treat
Advantages: Great place for all the family
Disadvantages: Not for people with phobia of frogs!
...Duinrell is not just an amusement park but a campsite as well. My experience of this place is from working on the campsite for a camping holiday company.
It is ideally situated about 30 minutes drive north of The Hague in the Netherlands almost equally distant from the ferry port at Rotterdam to the airport at Amsterdam.
This place is fantastic. The campsite is huge with not just camp areas but quite a few different companies on there (the three major ones). There is a large shop/bar/restaurant complex called the Kikkertuin (frog garden). The onsite shop has a wide range of goods from fresh bread to tent pegs all at reasonable prices. The bar which is an Irish bar in the cellar is not too badly priced and quite a large size but I did not visit either of the 2 restaurants.
The great part of the campsite is that you get...

Duinrell, Wassenaar, Netherlands.
Advantages: Everything you could possibly want from a family holiday
Disadvantages: Can't think of any!!!!!
...touring caravan or tent and stay in one of the many camoing grounds around the site - each have different levels of comfort and hook-ups. Check out Duinrell's own website for information on pricing.
This time we travelled on the tunnel from Folkestone but have used the "Harwich to The Hook" Stenna Fastcraft (3.5hrs) which is superb and leaves just a 45 minute drive to the theme park.
Duinrell is located about 15 minutes away from The Hague (Den Haag) and about 45 minutes away from Amsterdam. It lies just inland from an award winning beach and on the edge of Wassenaar's beautiful shopping street (Langstraat).
The theme park (free for people staying at the campsite) comprises many rides and attractions for all ages but my eldest (13) would prefer more "adult" rides!. The park contains so many hidden activities and attraction that you...

A country to fall in love with
Advantages: Not far from England, English widely spoken, good public transport, friendly.
Disadvantages: Unpredictable climate
...strongly.
I have reviewed Rotterdam separately. Also worth visiting: Den Haag (seat of government) , Delft (pretty, visit the churches), Leiden, Haarlem, and Utrecht. Haarlem is near to Amsterdam but the pace of life is much more sedate. I love the different cities, and train travel between them is easy.
Travelling by train is a much better experience than in England. Trains are reliable and generally comfortable, as long as you avoid the rush hour. There is a variety of discount schemes available - in the summer 2 people can travel on one ticket for 3 days within any 10 within the Netherlands. Ask for a Zomertoer ticket. You can travel back at anytime up to 4am the following day. Trains run all night between Amsterdam/Rotterdam/Utrecht?The Hague.
You can get a great variety of food. Much of it is international, and the indonesian...
