...After having very short and spiky hair for most of my teens and early 20's, I decided earlier this year that I need a change and decided to grow my hair. When it got to a certain length, I purchased a pair of £20 straighteners from a supermarket. Being the 'typical' man, I decided that straighteners were straighteners, and I was not going to pay over the odds for a product that would no doubt do the job just as well. After getting sick and tired of waiting about 5 minutes for my straighteners to heat up, and about 45 minutes trying to get my hair straight, I decided on the recomendation of my friend to purchase a pair of the GHD mini thin straighteners. Good Hair Day? Definitely!

Advantages: Quick to heat up, Excellent results, Easy to use, Time-saving
Disadvantages: Cost, Extremely hot, Only one setting

...straightener from my experience, and if you frequently straighten your hair then it's more of an investment! Another negative point is that (quite obviously) they're very hot - but they do get hotter than most, so it's good practice to use the heatproof mat just in case, and keep an eye on them. They do have the potential to burn/damage the hair, so it's probably worth using a protective serum in addition to the hair straighteners. Also, on the 'heat' point, it's worth noting that there are only two settings - on and off! Some hair straighteners have various levels of temperature, such as 1, 2, 3... these just have one high-heat setting. I find it fine for my hair, but it's worth bearing in mind if you generally like to use different settings when straightening your hair! Great for short thin hair

...I bought these recently as I cannot live without my older larger plated GHD's and thought that these would be a handy alternative. They do heat in under 3 seconds and have the same excellent ceramic plates as the larger version, however I found them very time consuming. I have very thick hair about shoulder length and unlike their larger cousins they were unable to straighten as effectively . On saying that they were brilliant on my fringe. I would recommend these to anyone with shorter or thin hair. A fashion conscientious male friend of mine used these and loved them and were perfect for his short hair. I would recommend using the straightening oil with these as they are very hot and I did find a few burnt strands of hair ....

GHD, makes a bad hair day a good hair day

...These straighteners are the best hair straighteners I have ever used, they heat up in about 10 seconds, beep when they're ready to use and then if you forget to turn them off they switch themselves off which is great if you're like me and have often come home to find my bed covers completely singed. They're very hot which although on the one hand is good because they work really well for every type of hairstyle you can ever want to do, straighten, curl, volumise etc. However, if you don't use a comb when straightening your hair you can quite often burn your fingers on your hair. GHD really do offer quality products as a general rule and I would never use any other straighteners. This is my 3rd pair of GHD's so really I have no complaints, however, my hot pink straighteners have had to be sent back to GHD on 2 different occasions...

...previous babyliss ones I think took roughly 20 mins until they were close to having any effect on my hair) and the red light flashed once they had heated up (with my old straightners the only way of knowing if they were on was to touch the plate and take all your skin off) so naturally they were the better buy! Although these straightners lasted me a good four years, they began to loose there effect as the ceramic wore off and they no longer seemed to reach such high temperatures. I must say that this was pretty good value for money, because although they were expensive, both my mum and I used them almost everyday and most straightners would have easily fallen to pieces by then! GHD hot pink kiss hair stylers.. well worth every kiss!!

Advantages: styles your hair in so many ways.. curles, straight, waves and so much more
Disadvantages: are more expensive than other hair stylers

I find GHD hair straightners great because I am one of those people always rushing around and the amount of times i`ve left my straighners on is unbelievable but GHds have a sleep mode where if they have not been used in 30 minutes the heaters turn off. The ceramic plates of the stylers are made from aluminium and get get to the temperature of 180c. GHDs are now more rounded than they used to be to create more looks. They have a on/off switch on the straightners themselves which is simple to use and light that will come on with them, they with make a bleep sound when you turn them on and a light will come on. When they have heated up and are ready to use, which takes less than a minute, the light will flash and you will hear another bleep sound so you know they are ready...

Ripping Your Hair Out

.... I eventually opted for the Nair Easy Wax option. I bought the white and purple box from my local Boots store, it cost me £7.99. It claims to be ideal for short hair. On opening the box I found a tub of mauve wax, a wooden spatula and two aftercare wipes, as well as an instruction leaflet. I read and followed the instructions; Warm the wax in the microwave for approximately two minutes depending on wattage of microwave then leave to stand for a further three minutes ( there is a warning about burning the skin with wax that is too hot). Dip the spatula into the wax and then place at the top of the area to be treated, spread immediately in the direction of the hair growth and leave a small amount at the end which is not pressed down so that you have a free end to pull the strip off with.
