...I purchased my first pair of GHD hair straighteners back in 2000 when they first hit the UK market. With my hair being so thick and unmanageable I decided on the chunky salon size straighteners for a bit of extra money. These were possibly the best purchase I have ever made as they have actually made my hair healthier than it has ever been before. Gone are the days of wiry, frizzy hair - hello sleek and tamed tresses. With their extra large plates they cover more hair in one swoop than your average straightener and there is no need to repeat hair which has already been blitzed. Hair actually stays straight in humid conditions and GHD are also very good with their customer care, as after 8 years my straighteners unfortunately went on fire in my hand - this was resolved in a matter of minutes with GHD and a brand new pair were soon...

GHD Salon Styler - Perfect in most ways.

Advantages: Quick to heat up, consistent results, good quality
Disadvantages: Issues with wire splitting and sparks

...I choose to buy the GHD Salon styler about 2 years ago as it was recommended for thick hair and for the time I had them they were an excellent buy. Great quality and perfect results all-round. As with any GHD's I found I needed to use a thermal protector product to ensure my hair was free from burn and remained healthy. I found for just over a year the straighteners were of very good quality and very consistent, I was able to rely on them completely. The major issue I have with these straighteners was after just over a year of using them, whilst straightening my hair I noticed sparks coming from the wire near to my hand. Where the wire entered the GHD's it had split which was causing the sparks - I felt this should not be happening with the price and quality of the product. Salon Sleek Hair

Advantages: salon sleek hair in no time
Disadvantages: none so far

...My hair is thick, quite coarse and really wavy. It looks fine if I scrunch it, it goes into loose curls, but I prefer having it straight. Advantages: Quick and Easy.
Disadvantages: Trouble with fringe straightening.

...Last christmas i was bought these ghds , after wanting them for ages but not having the money for them. This particualar styler has wide plates which is easy too use on thick hair - like mine. Although they are highly priced at around one hundred pounds , they are worth every single penny. I use them most morning and find them quick too heat up - generally under a minute. They also straighten my hair quickly and effectivly. Although the heat on these straightners is extremly hot , i would recommend these over any other brand of hair straightners that i have used over the years , my hairdresser has also told me that they are better for your hair despite the intense heat - you only have too run them over a section of hair once too straighten it. The only problem i have with these straighters is on my fringe - i find the thick plates...

Disadvantages: no choice- took ages to grow back to normal length wearing a headscarf most of the time

...I went to the hairdressers today....which now I regret AGAIN! I used to live in Leicester, the hairdressers I used there was brillant in doing what the customer wanted. I would go in with a couple of pictures and my hair was done almost exactly as the pictures were. I went every 6 weeks or so for years and never had a complaint with them. Then a couple of years ago I moved to Colchester, BAD HAIR MOVE! I must point out first, my hair is thin but naturally curly and at the time long. went to three different hairdressers over the first few years just for a tidy up with not much of a problem except they did not seem to know about scrunch drying, but it was ok as the cut was ok. My sister suggested going to a bigger named salon like I did in Lecester, so I went to Tony and Guy. I showed them pictures as I want the style...

...GHD's which stands for good hair days are a company who first specialised in making ceramic hair straightners and have now branched into making hair products such as shampoos, sprays and treatments to accompany their hair straightners. Id previously owned a pair of ceramic hairstraightners and they did an ok job. Id always wanted a pair of ghd's as my friends raved about them and my hairdresser always used them on my hair, but thought I couldn't justify the price tag. However my boyfriend heard me raving about them and got me pair for christmas....lucky me. I tried them out and they are amazing. I own the salon styler which has wider plates and is more effective if you have longer thicker hair like me. They also do a thin plate one for short hair and now a hair straightner for men aswell called the mini styler ~design...
