Half Life, Best FPS to ever grace the PC ?

Advantages: Everything about it, gripping story, great action, very immersive
Disadvantages: slightly outdated these days (was released in November 19, 1998) but you wont care :)

...My Personal Thoughts ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Half Life is a truely exceptional piece of gaming. I first played Half Life when it was released on ps2 as i never had a PC at that time. However when i did get a PC Half Life was straight into my collection. I thought he game was fantastic and unlike anything i had previously played. It had a gripping story that was very realisitc as you were at the hands of it all. In fact it was this game that got me into First Person Shooters (FPS) in the first place purely down to all the factors contained within this masterpiece of a game. Half Life 2 - Are you a Freeman?

Advantages: an amazing game all round - no faults
Disadvantages: none

...Half Life 2 :episode 2 This is not a type of game i usually buy but when my friends boyfriend gave her a couple of them i decided to try it out. Described as "the most intense and exhilarating conflict ever undertaken in a video game" would it live up to its hype? The game itself was really easy to install on the computer but does need a direct x 7 level graphics card so if your card isn't as good as this it might make the game run slower.The graphics are amazing.The environments look so realistic. Game play-The game is really addictive and offers weeks of enjoyment. Story Gordon Freeman a character from previous games has to try and rescue the world from aliens.Not a game i would usually go for but it works really well. A must have for half life fans , not for me though as i prefer things with less killing...

Half Life 2: Why YOU should play it.

Advantages: Amazing value for money, good gameplay, and a brilliant storyline.
Disadvantages: No multiplayer, repetitiveness of gameplay.

...I have played a lot of games in my time (Okay so I'm 15, I've still played a hell of a lot games), Half Life 2 impressed me to no end. I'll just go ahead and say that you have no idea what you are missing if you do not play it. It may be an 'old' game, as my friends say, but better late than never. Heres why: Half life 2 is set straight after 1, the combine(in other words some large group of very aggressive aliens) have invaded earth, and humanity have been oppressed. You are part of an uprising rebellion, which meets in secret and hides in underground facilities and canals (as far as I know). That is pretty much the basic storyline but it goes much, much deeper than that. As with Half Life 1, the storyline is its main selling point. Very well thought out and very imaginative. No other game I have played...

Half life, a classic

Advantages: It's amazing

...separate enemies from vantage points sometimes it does not seem that it is really that artificial. Next on my list of things to discuss is the graphics. Even by modern day standards the graphics of half life are not too shabby but at the time the graphics were awesome. Movements are fluid, creatures are realistic to behold and the actual areas you are in are decorated and coloured well. It has a very realistic feel to it in general. Although it's not a gore fest game there are some gorier moments but these can be adjusted on the options menu. I don't think I have ever come across a time where the graphics has caused my pc to slow and believe me when I say my PC could do with some improvement. Sound in this game is quite intelligent. Half Life 2 - The best FPS ever.

Advantages: Storry, Physics, graphics...everything...
Disadvantages: Hmm...err...well...it has several minor glitches, but they are allready fixed with patches

Half Life 2- Best Before 2004!

Advantages: Great graphics and sound, amazing physics, Great Immserive world

...you the experiences of someone with a medium/high end machine and someone that isn't being paid by a certain Graphics card company! I run Half Life 2 on my machine which specs up as follows AMD ATHLON 2800+ 1024 Mb DDR 333 RAM GEFORCE XFX 5900 XT 120 GB 7200 RPM HD 500W POWER SUPPLY I run the game on the resolution of 1280x1024 on high settings, and for almost all of the time I get perfect frame rates and little to no lag, maybe a slight frame rate drop when I exit into a wide open spaces. The minimum specs are a 1.2 ghz pc or AMD equivilent 256MB RAM, and a geforce fx 5200 or ATI equivilent and 3 gig of disk space The reccommended specs are 768MB RAM geforce 6800 or ati x800 pro AND 4 gig of disk space. The game claims to run better on ATI Radeon chipsets, however this is almost certainly marketing as Ati and Valve...
